1 ESChat Dispatch Client ESChat offer a dispatch client which can be installed on a Windows PC. ESChat Dispatch allows Dispatchers, Supervisors and Office Personnel to communicate with their mobile workforce. ESChat Dispatch supports Live Location Tracking, and includes all modes of ESChat communications. A computer running Windows XP or later Operating System. Refer to the article here for the minimum required Java version. Sound capability to send/receive audio. Such as from a sound card with a headset plugged into it, among other audio routing options. Network connection with the ESChat servers. Refer to the Firewall Issues article here. Recommend Administrator, or Administrator-level access, based on your Windows Operating System configuration and privilege structure. The PTT key is available as an on-screen button or the space bar.
2 Installation and Provisioning The initial setup notification is done by . The new user will receive an with a clickable link to the setup page. The clickable link takes the user to the setup page where they will find a download link and their activation code. To install click the download button, also copy the code as it will be needed to provision the client upon first opening. Once installed and opened, click Activate New. The client will ask for the code.
3 Personality Selection Each time the dispatch client is opened, after the initial provisioning, it will display a Personality Selection window. The current provisioned license instance will be displayed in the drop-down box. The dispatch client has the option to switch between multiple user licenses on the same install. For assistance with this please contact support. To use the current provisioned license and by-pass this startup window, check the Use this as default and do not ask again box. Setting location The initial opening of the dispatch client is not set with the dispatcher s location as the center. This is for users who dispatch from a different geographical area then their vehicles. If you prefer to have the map center on the dispatch location: 1. Select mapping from the menu bar and click on Set my location ;
4 2. Enter your location, once entered the map will center on the provided location upon opening the dispatch client. The map is available as a Street Map, Satellite, Terrain and Satellite + Street Map. It is selected by clicking the Map setting. on the right of the map. Each time the dispatch is opened it will default to the Street
5 Audio Configuration After initially opening the Dispatch client a Voice Recorder Error! will be displayed if no input device is found. Users with USB headsets commonly experience this error: To correct this, click on ESChat from the menu bar and select Options : From the Options window, select the Audio Configuration tab: ESChat will allow any audio device recognized by Windows. Initially, it will default to Primary Sound for Output and Input.
6 This configuration can be changed, click the dropdown arrow next to Primary Sound Capture Driver to see other options and select the correct device: The Output can be select the same way, click the dropdown arrow next to Primary Sound Driver to see other options and select the correct device: Once all changes have been made click Accept at the bottom to save and return to the Dispatch client.
7 Contacts, Groups, Messages and Call History The dispatch client s contact list and groups are managed from the Admin Portal. A guide for use of the Admin Portal can be found here. Contacts Each contact has a presence icon to indicate status. To initiate a call to an available contact(s) click to highlight, then use the green PTT button at the bottom of the screen (or the spacebar may be used as PTT key)
8 Additional options and information is available for each contact by right-clicking on the name: Start ESChat Alert Call sends a notification which must be accepted by the recipient to begin the chat (useful when privacy is required). Send Message send an ESChat text message (with the option to include an image) to the user. Show on Map places a presence marker on the map for this user only. Show All on Map places presence markers for all available users on the map. Block Call temporarily blocks incoming calls from that user, while allowing all other ESChat communication. While in a chat session, the identifies the currently transmitting user. To end the session, click the button. The call window will display a call ended confirmation. Click Close to return to the contact list tab.
9 Groups A Group is a collection of Contacts that can be called at once. Groups can be Ad hoc (created on the fly), or predefined. Predefined Groups are listed in the Group tab. Each Group is listed with a name and an associated group presence. To initiate a call to a group click to highlight, then use the green PTT button at the bottom of the screen (or the spacebar may be used as PTT key):
10 Group member information is available by double-clicking on the group name: From this expanded group member view, an ad-hoc call can be started with a single group member by highlighting the recipient and clicking the PTT button. Right-clicking on a group displays the options: Send Message send a text message (with the option to include an image) to all members of the group. Show on Map places presence markers on the map for this group only. Block Calls temporarily blocks incoming calls from that group, while allowing all other ESChat communication.
11 Messaging The dispatch client supports text messages, with an attached image, to be sent to a single contact, multiple contacts or a pre-defined group. Messages can also be received by the dispatch client as well. To send a message, right-click the contact or group and select send message. This will open a message window below the contact or group list. Enter your text here To insert an image, click Add Image Once complete, click Send
12 When a message is received a notification window will pop-up above the tabs: Click on the message tab to view the message: Selected message Sender information Message body Message options
13 Call History The call history tab shows all incoming and outgoing call completed. Detailed information about each call is available by clicking on the call. Users can initiate a call from the history tab by highlighting the record and then clicking the PTT button. At any-time click the to re-fresh the dispatch client s information from the server.
