2 Update Bundle 11 description Update Bundle 11 description New features and changes This release is commonly called EMC Ionix ControlCenter Update Bundle 11 (UB11). The version is It is a cumulative roll up of Ionix ControlCenter 6.1 patches and update bundles including relevant SQL patches released by EMC prior to this release. It is required that you download and read the latest version of the Support Matrix, Ionix ControlCenter 6.1 prerequisites, and all other related Ionix ControlCenter documents from EMC online support website at before you begin installation. Note: You must upgrade agents to the UB11 level to make full use of the patches and additional features provided in this bundle. ControlCenter features Support for EMC CenteraStar version 4.2. Support for VPLEX 5.0. Support for Symmetrix Enginuity 5875 (VMAX and VMAXe). Ionix ControlCenter 6.1 is fully compatible with Symmetrix Enginuity Support to discover new CLARiiON thin and thick LUNs in storage pool. Support for Symmetrix port busy performance metrics in Performance Manager and Symmetrix Enginuity 5875 and later systems. Support for discovery and management of Brocade switches with the new OUIs '00-27-F8' and '50-EB-1A'. Support for discovery and management of Cisco switches with the new OUI ' '. Support to control excessive archive file generated during Symmetrix discovery failure. The EMC Ionix ControlCenter Planning and Installation Guide Volume 1 provides more information. 3 New features and changes Performance Manager reports WLA data of NAS Managed Object using IP reference of the discovered NAS Managed Objects. StorageScope features Support for Thin Pool to Thin Tier relationship, Policy to Tier relationship, and StorageGroup to Symmetrix Tier relationship. Support for Out of Policy tier in SRM Views and Query Builder. Support for mapping FAST Policies and Thin Tiers to Service Level. Support for LUN tagging for Service Level with Policy and Thin Tier. New SRM Views for Symmetrix FAST Policies, Storage Groups, Thin Pools, Data Devices, and Thin Tiers. The SRM Views and Query Builder now report how much capacity resides in each Tier under FAST control, in addition to the Policy definition. Additional columns are available for Average and Maximum tier consumption per week or month. Support for Thin Provisioning reports for CLARiiON and VNX Block storage pools. Support for CLARiiON Thin devices and DLUs (Thick devices) in storage pools. Support for CLARiiON pools in Query Builder built-in queries: Thin Pools, Thin Pool End to End, and Thin Pool Chargeback. Support Service level LUN tagging for both Thin and Thick devices in storage pools. Note: The LUN characteristics are derived from their underlying pool, so a service level definition such as CLARiiON RAID 1 will match LUNs in a FAST-managed pool, while CLARiiON FC might not match FAST-managed LUNs if the pools have multiple disk technologies. But, it will match homogeneous pools with only one type of disk technology FC. FAST-managed LUNs that do not match a specific definition will be grouped into the built-in FAST VP Service Level. The existing Query Builder columns Thin Device Count and Thin Device Total are now modified to # Pool LUNs and Pool Subscribed respectively. System Resources, Virtual Devices (Thin and VDEV), DLUs (Thick Devices) in CLARiiON StoragePools, and Diskless Devices are now marked as N/A ArrayAllocated? column. Prior to UB11, they were marked as No. Support for a new value Pool Contributor for device allocation type for Symmetrix data devices and save devices. VNX Arrays now appear under a new category called Unified Storage that combines both the VNX Block and VNX File mode arrays. Previously, these appeared separately under the Arrays and NAS sections respectively. This category appears on the Dashboard, and in the Query Builder Areas of Interest. The VNX File mode array is now identified by the VNX serial number, rather than by the Data Mover IP address. A new category Unified Storage and built-in query Unified Storage are added to the Query Builder. Support for User Defined Groups and User Defined Fields with Unified Storage. Disconnect all other Terminal Services sessions. Figure 1 shows the UB11 error handling flowchart. Yes/No Yes - The process locking the files needs to finish or be terminated before continuing. Update Bundle 11 deployment summary This section provides summary of steps for UB11 deployment. 1. Take a snapshot of ControlCenter using correct Backup utility. Note: Duration depends on starting point and size of the Oracle Repository. 3. Expect long pauses during the installation process. Do not click Cancel. UB11 can be applied to any prior versions of ControlCenter Required deployment order for distributed infrastructures. a. Apply UB11 completely on the Server and Repository hosts. Refer to Installation section for information on UB11 installation. b. Apply UB11 simultaneously to: StorageScope Host Stores Performance Manager c. Upgrade the Console. This section provides information on agent compatibility. These agents must be patched to UB11 after completing the UB11 deployment. IMPORTANT After upgrading the infrastructure and the Master Agent on the infrastructure servers to Ionix ControlCenter 6.1 and before upgrading the agents, you must install the latest Ionix ControlCenter Update Bundle from Powerlink. 11 Installation installed. Ensure that you are at 6.1 UB2 (CC_4459) or later before installing UB11, unless you have installed from CD A02 or A04. Agent backwards compatibility Backwards compatibility means the agent will continue to function as designed with the previous versions of Ionix ControlCenter Update Bundles. The Ionix ControlCenter Update Bundles provide agent backwards compatibility for the following: Master and Host agents Common Mapping Agent Database Agent for Oracle from 5.2 SP5 or later Do not update your Common Mapping Agent to Update Bundle 5 or later if you are dependent on database support provided only with Solutions Enabler 6.5.x. Note: Any host that uses the EMC Invista Storage must have the Host Agent running at UB3 or later version. Preinstallation requirements Before proceeding with the steps outlined in this document, the following prerequisites must be met. Disk Space EMC ControlCenter 6.1 Update Bundle 11 requires a minimum of 11 GB free disk space. IMPORTANT Ensure that you are at 6.1 UB2 (CC_4459) or later before installing UB11, unless you have installed from CD A02 or A04. It is recommended to run the Ionix ControlCenter Environment Checker tool before upgrading to Ionix ControlCenter 6.1 UB11. For more information, refer to Ionix ControlCenter Environment Checker section. Ionix ControlCenter Environment Checker Ionix ControlCenter Environment Checker is a diagnostic tool for determining whether the existing Ionix ControlCenter is ready to be upgraded to the next higher version. The purpose of this tool is to list out any potential issues that could occur while upgrading Ionix ControlCenter. Starting with, the Ionix ControlCenter Environment Checker is part of the update bundle downloadable file. It is required to run the Ionix ControlCenter Environment Checker tool before upgrading to Ionix ControlCenter 6.1 UB11. Perform the following to install and use the Ionix ControlCenter Environment Checker tool: EMC Ionix ControlCenter 6.1 Update Bundle 11 Read Me 11

12 Installation 1. Execute the Ionix_CEC_ exe file distributed with the EMC Ionix ControlCenter 6.1 Update Bundle 11 (CC_4906.zip). 2. By default, the Ionix ControlCenter Environment Checker is extracted to the local drive. You can also extract the tool to a non-default location. 3. Launch the tool by double-clicking the Ionix_CEC.exe file in the <CEC_INSTALL_FOLDER>. 4. Update the Ionix ControlCenter Environment Checker to the latest version by clicking Help -> Check for Updates. For more information on using the tool, refer to Ionix ControlCenter Environment Checker Online Help. Note: If there is no internet connectivity or if the host is behind the firewall, download latest version from Powerlink and install it on the host. Note: The Ionix ControlCenter Environment Checker tool is updated periodically. The next time you choose to run this tool, it is recommended that you check for any latest updates. Note: In a distributed Ionix ControlCenter deployment, install and run the Ionix ControlCenter Environment Checker tool on each of the infrastructure component servers to verify their upgradability. Backup StorageScope This prerequisite is only needed if UB11 is being applied to an existing Ionix ControlCenter environment. Note: If file level reporting (FLR) is licensed, then disable all FLR data collection policies (DCPs) prior to the next scheduled Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) run time. If this is not done, then the ETL process should be run before UB11 is installed. Perform these steps prior to installing UB11: 1. Run the %ECC_INSTALL_ROOT%\repository\admin\emcsts_scripts\emcsts_trending_services. bat. 2. Run a StorageScope Repository Export and Backup. Note: In an FLR licensed environment, the ETL run time could take up to 4 hours to complete. Backup Ionix ControlCenter It is mandatory to perform a complete backup of Ionix ControlCenter prior to starting the UB11 installation except for fresh installation. 1. Download and install Ionix ControlCenter 6.1 Backup and Restore Utility (CC_4938.zip) on all infrastructure servers. Ionix ControlCenter 6.1 Backup and Restore Utility Read Me provides more information. 12 EMC Ionix ControlCenter 6.1 Update Bundle 11 Read Me

13 Installation 2. Run backup.bat in the %ECC_INSTALL_ROOT%\HF4938 directory on all infrastructure servers except for servers which have the Performance Manager GUI Client installed alone with no other Ionix ControlCenter components. 3. Reboot the server. 4. Copy the %ECC_INSTALL_ROOT%\ directory to another storage location. 5. Change the Ionix ControlCenter and Oracle services back to Automatic and proceed with applying the patch. Note: If Ionix ControlCenter is installed in a Microsoft Cluster, leave all the Ionix ControlCenter and Oracle services set to Manual. Install latest quarterly Oracle security patch (recommended) Stop infrastructure services It is highly recommended that you install the latest quarterly Oracle Critical Security Patch Updates. If you experience the error stated in step 4 in the following section, the latest quarterly Oracle security patch must be applied to the Ionix ControlCenter and StorageScope Repositories. To verify whether this is necessary: 1. Navigate to the latest backup of the Ionix ControlCenter Repository. 2. Extract rambdb_exp.log from %RAMBBACKUPDIR%\exp\rambdb_exp_dmp.zip. 3. Edit rambdb_exp.log by using Notepad or Wordpad and go to the end of the file. 4. If you see the following lines at the end of the file, the Oracle Security patch is required before proceeding with applying UB11: ORA-31672: Worker process DW01 died unexpectedly. Job "SYSTEM"."SYS_EXPORT_FULL_02" stopped due to fatal error at [Timestamp]ORA-39014: One or more workers have prematurely exited. Before implementing this update bundle, you must stop the following Ionix ControlCenter services on all the following Ionix ControlCenter infrastructure systems: EMC ControlCenter API Server EMC ControlCenter Key Management Server EMC ControlCenter Master Agent EMC ControlCenter Repository EMC ControlCenter Server EMC ControlCenter Store EMC ControlCenter STS MSA Web Server EMC ControlCenter Web Server EMC StorageScope Repository EMC StorageScope Server EMC Ionix ControlCenter 6.1 Update Bundle 11 Read Me 13

14 Installation Wait until the Server and Store services are completely stopped. This can take 3 5 minutes. Verify that they have stopped in the Windows Task Manager (in the Processes tab, and then look for ECCService_Store.exe and ECCService_Server.exe. Note: Depending on your infrastructure's configuration, these services might not all be running on the same system. IMPORTANT A connection to the Ionix ControlCenter Repository is required to install the patch, so do not stop the following services: OracleECCREP_HOMETNSListener, OracleServiceRAMBDB (Ionix ControlCenter Repository), and OracleServiceEMCSTSDB (StorageScope Repository). Stop non-ionix ControlCenter services Stop the following non-ionix ControlCenter services: All antivirus services should be disabled so that on-access virus scans and background virus scanning operations are not running in the background on any StorageScope systems. All COM+ services should be stopped and disabled except on a Microsoft Cluster. All server management services (HP and DELL) should be stopped and disabled. VMware Tools Distributed Transaction Coordinator Windows Management Instrumentation Applying UB11 to different versions of Ionix ControlCenter The following scenarios describe how to prepare different versions or configurations of Ionix ControlCenter for the UB11 update. Completely fresh install of Ionix ControlCenter 6.1 (Rev A04) The EMC Ionix ControlCenter 6.1 Planning and Install Guide, Volume 1 provides information to perform the initial installation. Upgrade to Ionix ControlCenter 6.1 from a pre-6.1 version Note: These steps apply to Ionix ControlCenter components installed according to Ionix ControlCenter s design across one or more infrastructure servers. Upgrading to Ionix ControlCenter 6.1 should be done with the Ionix ControlCenter 6.1 Rev A02 or A04 media only. Do not use the Ionix ControlCenter 6.1 Rev A01 media. To complete the upgrade: 1. Reboot the Ionix ControlCenter Server and Repository first, then reboot the other infrastructure servers. 2. Install the Console on the Remote Access Server and not the infrastructure host. 15 Installation 3. Upgrade the agents on the WLA Archiver host. 4. Upgrade the StorageScope service. 5. Connect to StorageScope and run ETL successfully. 6. Upgrade Master agent. If PM is already installed on a host with master agent deployed, PM will be upgraded automatically. Upgrade and run Performance Manager GUI Client. 7. Connect to the Web Console if this is part of your design. Verify version of Ionix ControlCenter To verify the version of Ionix ControlCenter: 1. Open a DOS window on Ionix ControlCenter Repository host. 2. Open the following directory: cd /d %ECC_INSTALL_ROOT%\Repository\admin\Ramb_Scripts. 3. Run ecc_getversion.bat. You will see the version information as follows: ECC Repository Version ECC Repository version information External Version : Version Internal Version : KitSpec : GA6 Build Label : ECC MAY Build Name : ECC MAY Release Date : Sat May 16 14:34: Install Date : Wed May 27 17:02: Exit the DOS window. Existing EMC Ionix ControlCenter 6.1 Ionix ControlCenter environments that are already at a UB2 or above can be upgraded to (UB11) immediately following the instructions below. Note: Anytime a Master Agent is installed on a new host it must be patched immediately to or later. This does not apply to Ionix ControlCenter 6.1 A02 or A04 or later. Note: The EMC Ionix ControlCenter Planning and Install Guide, Volume 1 provides details to discover pre-61 agents into a fresh install of Ionix ControlCenter 6.1. In a Microsoft Cluster When applying any Ionix ControlCenter upgrade, Update Bundle or OCPU Patch, the Ionix ControlCenter and Oracle resources found in the Cluster Administrator must be removed from the cluster as follows: 1. If the WLA Archiver host does not have the ECC_INSTALL_ROOT system environment variable set correctly, the wlahttpserver will not be able to find the SSL certificates that allow it to communicate with the other Performance Manager components. Failed agent recovery instructions For example, if the ECC_INSTALL_ROOT environment variable is not set, then create the ECC_INSTALL_ROOT variable using the System Properties, Advanced, Environment Variables GUI and set the variable value to the location where Ionix ControlCenter is installed. 23 Installation Display trust certificate warning (optional) Perform the following steps to remove the trust certificate warning every time a web application is accessed: Prerequisites 1. Install UB11 by using the directions in this document. 2. On the Ionix ControlCenter Server host, open the file: %ECC_INSTALL_ROOT%\ecc_inf\data\ecc_inf_hostname\class\EccSecurityConfig.pro perties. 3. Verify that the file has the following setting: Global.TrustedHostFilter=trust_all. Note: If you change this parameter, the Ionix ControlCenter Server must be restarted. 4. Restart the Server service then restart the Store services. Patching EMC ControlCenter Web Server service Perform this procedure on all hosts that have the EMC ControlCenter Web Server service. 1. 25 Cumulative patch contents Procedure for removing the StorageScope Repository and StorageScope Server after UB11 has been installed (optional) If the EMC Ionix ControlCenter Repository and StorageScope Repository is installed with OCPU, you will not be able to reinstall StorageScope Repository on the ControlCenter Repository host. This is because, the EMC Ionix ControlCenter Repository is at a higher Oracle version than the GA or CD A02 or A04 version of what you are trying to install for StorageScope. However, StorageScope Repository can be installed on a different host in a distributed environment and then upgraded to or later. IMPORTANT This procedure is optional and only necessary if you want to remove the StorageScope Repository and StorageScope Server after or later has been installed.
