2 Introduction REQUIREMENTS The Car Assistant app works on a mobile device (a smartphone or a tablet) with an Android 4.0 or newer system. Apple mobile device works with ios 9.0 or newer. ios DOTSENS.COM 2

3 APP MANUAL DOWNLOADING THE APP The Android version of The Car Assistant app can be downloaded from the Google Play store, while the ios version is available via the Apple itunes Store. Android App Appropriate version of the reader on your phone will allow you to use links embedded in the QR codes on this page. Current links are also available at get.dotsens.com ios App 3

4 1. Creating an account 1.1. Launching the app In order to create the new account, the user has to launch the Car Assistant app. Select Create Account option under the log in button. DOTSENS.COM 4

5 APP MANUAL 1.2. Setting up a login and password The next step is entering your phone number and password. You need to remember the prefix when you sign in later (+353 for Ireland, +44 for the UK). The password can be made of any string of characters given by the user, as long as it s longer than 6 characters. As always, please avoid using simple passwords. 5

6 1.3. Confirmation To confirm your new account, the phone number entered receives a text message with a confirmation key. Enter the provided key and select Activate to continue the setup of your account. DOTSENS.COM 6

7 APP MANUAL 1.4. Accepting the Terms Before your account is ready, you should read and accept the following agreements: - the rules, - the license agreement, - the rules of cancelling the service 7

8 1.5. Confirmation of the new account If your account is set up correctly, you will receive a text message with a confirmation. DOTSENS.COM 8

10 2. Signing in Once the app has been started, you need to enter your login (the prefix and the phone number you used to sign in with: prefix for Ireland is +353 and for the UK +44). You can also select the auto sign in option. DOTSENS.COM 10

11 APP MANUAL After the log in, you ll see the app s main screen. When you leave the app, it will be running in the background. 11

13 APP MANUAL Step 2: Enter the contact details of people to notify in case of an accident. You should enter at least one phone number or pick a person from your contacts. You can also enter addresses. The app allows you to use 3 phone numbers and 3 addresses. The contacts can be changed after the device has been added via Profile> Notification Recipients 13

14 Step 3: Adding the device Once the device is bound to your account, you can edit its details on the pictured screen. The user should fill in vehicle details such as the registration number or finish adding the vehicle. Remember that without this information, notifications and alerts will not work. DOTSENS.COM 14

15 APP MANUAL 2.2. Resetting Your password To reset the password, you have to enter the login (prefix + phone number) and confirm it. Car Assistant will display the screen which will ask you to enter the code received via text message. Next step is to enter your new password of at least 6 characters. 15

16 3. Main screen 3.1. Vehicle card The vehicle card displays the name, picture, current speed and the battery voltage of the car. It lets you set the speed limit and enable or disable the alarms. There s an icon that allows you to access your profile in the upper left corner DOTSENS.COM 16

17 APP MANUAL 3.2. User profile The profile screen gives you an access to the following actions: Notification recipients editing the list of people who will receive the notifications. The Car Assistant allows the user to add 3 phone numbers and 3 s which will receive the notification with your location in case of a possible accident. Change profile picture Select your profile picture from your gallery or use the camera. You can also do this by tapping profile picture itself. Edit account data change your account data, such as your name and contact details. Change password allows you to change your password. 18 3.3. Browsing vehicles Car Assistant allows you to monitor multiple vehicles or devices. The user can switch between them in two ways: swiping the main screen left or right, or by opening the car list and picking one of the vehicles. DOTSENS.COM 18

19 APP MANUAL 3.4. Map section The Map section shows you the current location of the selected vehicle. Tapping anywhere on that window, will open a map with the current vehicle position. The view can be changed by using an icon in the upper right corner of the app. 19

20 3.5. Offers section The Offers Section gives you an access to the offers of our business partners. The amount of offers is shown in the top right corner. To display the offers, click the section that you are interested in. DOTSENS.COM 20

21 APP MANUAL To see the details of an offer, the user needs to tap the offer that they want to see. The button at the bottom of the selected offer will take you to a website with more detailed information. 21

22 4. Alerts The app supports many alert types. The list is accessed with the Alert icon in the top right corner of the Android version. ios users can find the alert icon located on the tab bar. The basic alerts in the app are divided in to two groups: red alerts and yellow alerts. DOTSENS.COM 22

23 APP MANUAL 6.1. Possible collision The device sensors check the stress levels on the vehicle. In the event of a collision, there s a spike in stress levels and the device sends a warning to The Car Assistant, via GCM (system notifications), via text message and . 24 6.2. Possible theft The Alarm button can trigger the guard mode (padlock icon on the main screen). If this mode is on, the user will be informed about any attempts of hauling the vehicle away, voltage surges or attempts to start the ignition. It lets you quickly call the security and, if you have a premium account, track the patrols chasing your car. DOTSENS.COM 24

25 APP MANUAL 6.3. Sabotage In guard mode, the system will warn you about any sudden voltage drops. The information is sent to The Car Assistant via GCM (system notifications). It lets you quickly call security and, if you have a premium account, track patrols chasing your car. 25

26 6.4. Speeding You can set the speed limit for any of your cars. If your vehicle goes over the set limit, the system will send a notification to The Car Assistant and GCM (system notifications). 27 APP MANUAL 6.5. Time for a check up If you entered the date and mileage of your last car checkup, you ll enable the checkup notifications. The app will notify you about an upcoming checkup 500 kilometers or 14 days before it s due. The information is sent to The Car Assistant, via GCM (system notifications), via text message and . 28 6.6. Extend policy If you set up an insurance policy expiration date, the system will notify you of its upcoming expiration 31 and 14 days before that happens.
