Tabel of Content CONNECTION WITH THE CONTROLLER My computer does not get connected through USB My computer does not get connected through Ethernet when connecting through direct wire Can I remotely control my Qbus system? How many EQOmmands can I run on one controller?... 5 PROGRAMMING MODULES The REL04, REL08, ROL02, ANA04, ANR04 modules do not respond to the system About SMS01, To get a message of the thermostat alarm in the mobile phone, you need to create a logic expression. I did it but I didn t get any message. SMS01 worked when I sent messages from the mobile to switch On and OFF the lamps. Can you see if I did something wrong? In SMS module in the first screen I cannot see the phones names in order to edit who should send or receive messages. I have the message that everybody has access. How can I get this list? When changing the type in the INP08/230 to INP08/230 to distinguish from INP08. I can do that, but when I go to other module and come back the type definition has changed automatically to normal INP CONFIGURING THE SYSTEM The program has closed because a failure. Have I lost the configuration that I was programming? What happens if I program 2 contradictory schedules the same day at the same hour? After configuring outputs up to 99 I can not create alarms and when entering in control table I was adviced: No space for remote control so I suppose alarms need addresses from 3 to 99 and IR samples too. Am I right? When testing the scenes and switch times I got different problems: There are 4 relay outputs in two different modules (REL04_1, 2 and 3 and REL08_1, 2 and 3) that remain with a certain value all the time no matter what you order if they are configured as toggle. The only solution I found was to configure them as pushbutton but then I can't see the effect of the scene on these outputs When manipulating dimmers in order to see the exact % I click on read values and it displays me different values from the ones set (74% instead of 75%) When input is defined as normal closed it is clear that input is active when the input is not connected and it is not active when it is connected.but in this module LED goes on when input is connected (closed) and goes off when input is disconnected (open). The physical output assigned to this input works fine but LED indication in the input module can be confusing

15. In dimmer config properties window, the min possible % output is showing as 0% while the actual possible is only 20 % In the system manager the manual mode is appearing as 'no clock " GENERAL QUESTIONS In case of a power failure, will the system continue operating? Do I have to call a specialist to install my domotic system? Is the Qbus system very complicated for users? Can I change the initial installation? What happens when the thermostat fails?

CONNECTION WITH THE CONTROLLER 1. My computer does not get connected through USB. Normally when the Qbus System Manager III SW is installed, the USB driver is installed automatically, but if this is not the case your computer will tell you, once you connect to the controller, that it is having trouble installing the USB device. When this happens please click on that message and select to install the driver from a list or specific location (search: C:\Program Files\Qbus\CTD USB driver if you have left the program to install in the default location and if not select the location were you have installed the program and this specific folder). This way the system should connect properly 2. My computer does not get connected through Ethernet when connecting through direct wire. Start the Qbus System Manager III, click on Tools Setup. Make sure that in the Searching Connection -field you have enabled the Ethernet option. In the Ethernet option, click on Properties, in the pop-up screen that appears click on the blue refresh arrow in the top right corner. In the Modules field, the MAC-address of the controller you want to link to will appear. Double-click on that MAC-address, and then Click on Read the Settings in the Set-up screen when data gets displayed on the Set-up screen you are connected to the Controller. If you have a firewall installed directly in your computer this needs to be set up to allow all traffic. If your PC has an automatic IP address assignation you may need to change this to a fixed IP with the same fields as explained in point in the manual. 3. Can I remotely control my Qbus system? Yes, you have 3 ways: 1. With a cell phone via the SMS module. This allows you to send an SMS to your Qbus system to control heating, alarm system and various automation (lights, blinds, awnings,...) in the house. You can use an SMS module as well with a Controller with Ethernet on board (the CTDxxE range) as with a Controller without Ethernet on board (the CTDxx range. 2. With a PC if your controller has an Ethernet port (CTDxxE range) and is connected to a router. You can use Qbus System Manager to configure and control the system or you van use the Qbus Home Center software if you just want to manage the loads in an user friendly way. 3. With a mobile device over a wireless LAN network (wireless local area network) if you have a Controller with Ethernet port (CTDxxE range). By typing the IP address of your Controller into the browser of your mobile device (which has a Safari, Opera Mobile or Internet Explorer for Windows Mobile browser), you can log in to the webserver that is residing in your CTDxxE controller. 4

4. How many EQOmmands can I run on one controller? The Ethernet port on a CTD0XE controller can support 4 EQOmmand-connections, one System Manager connection and an EQOweb browser simultaneously. This means that in theory you could have 5 EQOmmands running simultaneously if you do not have the System Manager connected with the Controller (using the 4 ports for the EQOmmand and the 1 port for the System Manager). The EQOweb webserver connection is not a continuous connection: every time you log in to the controller s webserver (using EQOweb) a connection is made when disconnecting the connection drops and can be used by another device running EQOweb. This means that e.g. you could have multiple devices where you run EQOweb webserver but only one at the same time can connect. PROGRAMMING MODULES 5. The REL04, REL08, ROL02, ANA04, ANR04 modules do not respond to the system. The output modules have a manual mode that once has been activated does not answer to the orders of the system. You can deactivate the manual mode directly on the module (see datasheets) or by uploading the configuration again taking care that you select the all modules option. 6. About SMS01, To get a message of the thermostat alarm in the mobile phone, you need to create a logic expression. I did it but I didn t get any message. SMS01 worked when I sent messages from the mobile to switch On and OFF the lamps. Can you see if I did something wrong? Yes, Alarms can only be activated by logic, preset or schedule. It is supposed that alarm did not turn ON again because it was already ON. Logic is only triggered on rising or falling edge. Please add 'ELSE = OFF' to your logic expression. 7. In SMS module in the first screen I cannot see the phones names in order to edit who should send or receive messages. I have the message that everybody has access. How can I get this list? Phone list remains empty because phone numbers must start with a '+' sign (and length must be at least 6 digits ). You can fill out the phone numbers and names in the Phone Numbers tab. 8. When changing the type in the INP08/230 to INP08/230 to distinguish from INP08. I can do that, but when I go to other module and come back the type definition has changed automatically to normal INP08. 5

This is only an aesthetic issue. The module INP08/230 works without any problem. It will be solved in future software versions. CONFIGURING THE SYSTEM 9. The program has closed because a failure. Have I lost the configuration that I was programming? The program may close if it detects some abnormality instead of getting hung. You just need to open it again and click on yes when you are asked to start where previous session was interrupted. 10. What happens if I program 2 contradictory schedules the same day at the same hour? The last one in the list of schedules will be the one used. Example: Schedule1 is bedroom light ON at 7:00 a.m and Schedule 2 is bedroom light OFF at 7:00 a.m, the light will remain OFF at 7:00 a.m 11. After configuring outputs up to 99 I can not create alarms and when entering in control table I was adviced: No space for remote control so I suppose alarms need addresses from 3 to 99 and IR samples too. Am I right? Alarms consume one address, each extra address (up to 64 different codes) for controlling IRG04 also consume one address, and each control table (max. 10) consumes also 1 address. 12. When testing the scenes and switch times I got different problems: There are 4 relay outputs in two different modules (REL04_1, 2 and 3 and REL08_1, 2 and 3) that remain with a certain value all the time no matter what you order if they are configured as toggle. The only solution I found was to configure them as pushbutton but then I can't see the effect of the scene on these outputs. If push buttons are connected to an INP-module the input selector must be set to PUSH BUTTON, but the mode of the output MUST be TOGGLE. Thus after changing all input of scenes to PUSH BUTTON and all modes to TOGGLE, this should work perfect. 6

13. When manipulating dimmers in order to see the exact % I click on read values and it displays me different values from the ones set (74% instead of 75%) In the dimmers display there is a tolerance of +/- 1% in the values read. 14. When input is defined as normal closed it is clear that input is active when the input is not connected and it is not active when it is connected.but in this module LED goes on when input is connected (closed) and goes off when input is disconnected (open). The physical output assigned to this input works fine but LED indication in the input module can be confusing. The led on the front of the INP08/16/ will show the status of the INPUT. Not the status of the OUTPUT. This is explained in the datasheets and user manual. 15. In dimmer config properties window, the min possible % output is showing as 0% while the actual possible is only 20 %. Dimmer minimum is not limited. You can enter any value from 0-100%. Some outputs must work on 5-10%.. A safety rule is included: minimum must be less than maximum -5%. 16. In the system manager the manual mode is appearing as 'no clock ". The name "NO CLOCK" was preferred as default name for thermostat program 1. In the setup screen the customer can change names of all programs and select with program can be overruled by scene and schedule. 'No Clock' had the intention to put the thermostat in a fix mode where scenes and schedules had no effect. But in recent versions you can change names and (de)select this on any THmode. GENERAL QUESTIONS 17. In case of a power failure, will the system continue operating? After the power is restored, the Qbus devices will continue to operate, in the same way as conventional electric elements continue operating after restoring the power. 7

Each component incorporates a microprocessor with its own protected memory and it continues working normally. 18. Do I have to call a specialist to install my domotic system? Yes, facilities must be carried out by specialist who have gone through the preparation course. 19. Is the Qbus system very complicated for users? No, this domotic system is used in the same way as one would use a conventional electrical installation (using switches to control outputs), but with the possibility to use many additional devices to control your installation ( such as touch screens, IR remote controls, cell-phone, PC s, mobile devices, ) and also with the possibility to control several outputs with one button (scenes such as all on, all off, ). 20. Can I change the initial installation? Yes, you can add or change modules in the system which is fully expandable and scalable. You can also change the configuration of the existing system via the Qbus System Manager Software (e.g. to control different outputs from certain switches, or to add or change scenes, clock-times, etc). 21. What happens when the thermostat fails? When sensor breaks, the controller keeps its last measured value. TH contacts remain as they are. Moreover if the complete module fails, it can be recognized in module scanning. 8
