3 Point Cloud Variants Explained FLS Native ordered data from the scanner the data is structured in rows and columns hence you can sub-sample it on export but needs to be loaded to view Scan Point Cloud Unordered data, created automatically within new interface when process. The data is optimised hence can be view in an unloaded state (each scan) Project Point Cloud Unordered data, created when you use the PPC tool, The data is combined in to a single database and ideal for visualisations (combined scans) Deleting Data If data is deleted from the SPC it is deleted from the FLS, but if it s deleted from the PPC it remains in the other two 3

5 Visualisation Settings Getting it looking good on screen is key to the output! Clear View Enabling Clear View and using the transparency slide allows for really cool results especially in combination with Orthophoto Supersampling Enabling 2x2 will render the point cloud at 4x your screen resolution but does rely on the quality of the captured data (heavy on GC) If permanently enabled may cause you lag issues in general navigation 5

6 Project Point Cloud Options (PPC) Think why Quite often I see people creating it without understanding the need Settings Eliminate Duplicates (default) Close Surfaces (voxels) Full Colour (1/32 & 4X all pixels) Homogenize Point Density Reduces points at overlap or close to scanner, linked to Close Surface Colour Balancing (each scan changes) Distance Filter CPU Load Temporary Folder (use external HDD if space is limited) 6

7 Overview Map (V7 only) Option available from Explore Tab in V7 Creating the OVMP in SCENE will give you the map ready for WSC Under the Export tab you can also export the map as a *.tif or *.dxf for use in other systems When viewing the OVMP in SCENE you can also look at the panoramic or 3D Views of each individual scan 7

8 Orthophoto (V7 only) The App has always been available under the Apps section and allowed the export of *.tif images We now support *.tif, *.png, *.jpg, *.bmp & *.dxf (2D & 3D) Use the tool in the same way as before by using clipping box s Remember to set up your view parameters (Clear View, Supersampling, Point size) 8

11 Setting up an Animation Path Viewpoints a series of Viewpoints are required in order to create an animation path Create manually by using the icon (CTRL/F2) Use the App Options Video App Viewpoint Options Create video path with view along path Create video path with view around the path Create video path like a bird s eye A combination of all can be used to create the perfect path Keyboard Shortcuts (W S)-(A D)-(R F)-(I J)-(K L) 11

12 Animation Path Speed Setting equal distance between Viewpoints is key for a animation Consider using the Keyboard shortcuts In the examples opposite I,J,K,L were used for smooth rotation of FS Scans If creating animations of FC data and it covers internal and external scans then break them down in to separate movies VP s 1-50 & VP s etc Specify the duration based on your eye speed 12

13 Creating the Animation Path Creating viewpoints using the different methods groups them in to separate folders The different options are also labelled with different names and can all be used more than once in any video Spline options Spline interpolation includes video path view points Spline interpolation excludes video path view points 13

14 Recording the Animation Path Select video format and name Resolution 1920x1080 classed as HD Frame rate depends on duration and smoothness Bitrate, try to leave High/V.High to keep quality Duration depends on eye Other settings..
