Where is it? - My animation is moving too quickly. How do I fix it?

SAM Shortcuts Action Shortcut Click the space bar Capture frame Edit frame Double click the frame Delete frame Click the delete key Quit and Relaunch SAM Home Button 59

Trouble Shooting Hopefully you will not encounter many problems in using SAM Animation. However, if you do, look for your question here. If you do not find the solution, visit and take advantage of our 24-hour response policy. What do I do if SAM Animation recognizes the wrong camera? Go to the Camera menu at the top of your computer screen. Select Settings. A new screen, with three different tabs will open. Select the Source tab. You will see the following menu. Choose the camera you wish to use. 60

Why can t I add a frame in the middle of the animation? SAM Preferences This is because of the default preferences for SAM Animation. To change this, go to the bar at the top of your computer screen and click SAM Animation then select Preferences. SAM Preferences A new screen with the preferences will open. To change the default setting of always appending new frames to the end of the animation, go to the Miscellaneous section. Miscellaneous Unselect the Always append new frames to end of movie option and click OK at the bottom of the window. New frames will now be added after whichever frame is selected. 61

Onionskin Current Frame How do I change the frame used for onionskinning? To change the onionskinning frame, there are two options. First, select the desired frame and go to Edit at the top of your computer screen and select Onionskin Current Frame. Note: This function is not available on Version 1.3. Onionskinning Arrows The second option is to use the arrows below the live feed to change the onionskinning frame. 62

icreate to Educate How can I play my animation on another computer? To play your animation on another computer, you can choose from a couple of options: Export your animation. Use this if you want a video file to transfer and share with others. Share your animation. Use this option if you want to view your animation on a website like You Tube or icreate to Educate. Transfer your animation as a.sam file to another computer with the SAM Animation software on it. Use this option if you want to edit the animation on another computer. Option 1: Export Export To export your video go to File at the top of your computer screen and select Export from the menu. Choose Saving Destination A new window will open. You can then choose the saving destination, name, file type, and settings. When you are finished click the Save button in the bottom right. Your video will be processed and then saved. Note: To select the export file type, click the arrow beside Export. A menu will open. Select the file type you wish to export your animation as. 63

icreate to Educate Option 2: Share Share To share your video, click the Share button at the top left corner (it looks like a world). Note: Selecting Share at the top of your computer screen will also give you a drop-down menu of the four sharing options. icreate Gallery You Tube Voice Thread QuickTime Select Sharing Option A window will open, displaying the four sharing options. Select one and click it. A new screen will open, allowing you to name the file and provide other important information such as your site username and password. Option 3: Transfer In order to transfer and be able to open your SAM Animation file on another computer, you need the whole folder, not just the.sam file. The easiest ways to transfer your folder to another computer is to use a memory stick or flash drive. However, you can also burn it on a CD or use other file transferring methods. ing the folder usually does not work because the files are large especially if they are long. 64

icreate to Educate Where is my audio clip? I can t find it. Recorded and imported audio in SAM Animation will automatically appear in the first audio track, right underneath your frames. Remember that tracks can overlap, so if you don t see the audio you just imported or recorded, your clip it is most likely hiding behind another clip. Overlapping Audio In this screen shot it is hard to see that there are two audio clips because they are both on the same track. It is easy to lose an audio clip this way. Click Track Click on your audio track. See how a portion looks gray. This is because there is another audio clip overlapping the one that you selected. Drag Audio Track Remember that you can always drag your audio onto different tracks. This makes it easier to see and keep track of your audio clips especially if you have background music. 65

fps Slider My animation is moving too quickly. How do I fix it? Making your animation unfold slower is easy! Simply go to the frames per second slider (fps) under the image on the left side of your screen. Drag Slider to Left To make the frames go by slower, drag the slider to the left. This will give you fewer frames per second and thus make the frames last longer on the screen. Remember that if your animation is going too slow, just do the opposite. Slide the fps slider to the right. This will give you more frames per second and thus faster motion. 66
