3 1 Working with Pipes, Fitting and Accessories 1.1 Working with pre-insulated pipes Pre-insulated pipes in Revit Package are named with nominal diameter (DN) the same as for standard pipes to avoid any connection issues. Because the insulation-material is a Softfoam PE, you need to select the proper Pipe-Segment as well as applying the GF Revit pipe insulation in order to get proper product numbers in schedules (Picture 1) Picture 1. Add insulation button 1.2 Working with Flexible Pipes As it was proven in practice standard flexible pipes in Revit are not suitable for plumbing therefore where applicable GF Piping Systems Revit Package provides the unique solution. This solution is only available for coil pipes creating standard and non-standard angles. Simply choose a pipe from coil range and start sketching. Once you make an angle, a pipe-bend will be created by Revit. For some pipe diameters the guide bend will be inserted making 90 angle between pipes with a tick a box option to include or exclude a guide bend. However making an angle less than 90 would create only a curve of a pipe without any optional components (Picture 2) Picture 2. Pipes with standard guide bend on the left and non-standard pipe curve on the right Moreover, working with flexible pipes a user should pay attention to schedules. Pipes curves will be included in a schedule for accessories, boxes, compression fittings and distributors (not in a schedule for pipes) and they will not have any data apart from size and pcs. 4 1.3 Working with Cross Fittings Picture 3. Schedule for non-standard pipe curves To insert a cross you may promote a tee into a cross by activating the + symbol or as an alternative: 1. Draw the first pipe at any direction 2. Draw the second pipe with the same system crossing the first pipe (square) 3. Cross will be inserted automatically if it matches routing preference conditions (Picture 4) Picture 4. Activating the + option on the left and creating cross by crossing two pipes on the right 1.4 Working with Boxes To insert a box: 1. From System Tab find Plumbing & Piping panel 2. Click Pipe Fitting 3. Once a box is chosen from a drop down menu list open an elevation view and place the selected part to a desired wall location completing a procedure by clicking the left mouse button (Picture 5) 4

5 1.5 Working with Distributors To insert a distributor: Picture 5. Applying the box to the face of the wall 1. From System Tab find Plumbing & Piping panel 2. Click Pipe Fitting 3. Once a distributor is chosen from drop down menu list hover the selected distributor over a desired location and complete the procedure by clicking the left mouse button 1.6 Working with Wall Penetration Fittings To insert a wall penetration fitting: 1. From System Tab find Plumbing & Piping panel 2. Click Pipe Fitting 3. Choose a wall Penetration Fitting inserting and placing a component on the wall 4. Once it is placed amend the orientation if required (Picture 6) 5. After setting a correct orientation add pipe connections to this part Picture 6. The inserted wall penetration fitting with wrong orientation 1.7 Working with Built-In-Boxes To transfer a built-in-box model into a project a user should copy the model from GF Piping Systems Revit Package and paste it into a Revit Project. To insert built-in-box: 5

6 1. From System Tab find Model panel and click on Component 2. From drop down menu list choose built-in-box 3. Once it is chosen hover the model over the wall and place it into a desired location by clicking a left mouse button 4. To make a cut into a wall find and click Cut Geometry function from Modify Tab (Picture 7) 5. To complete the cutting select the wall where a cut should be made 6. Then select the model which defines geometry to cut 7. Once the second element is selected a void will be created automatically (Picture 8) Picture 7. Cut Geometry button Picture 8. Potential Issues with Fittings Sometimes replacing elbows with other available components from a drop down list might cause error message with no solution available (Picture 9) Picture 9.
