1 Lesson 1 name: Mallet Studies: Marimba Beginner Level 1. Overview: In this lesson, the goal and purpose is to attain a better understanding of Marimba and where notes are placed. *Goal: Able to play the listed Scales and read in the written key. Materials: a pair of medium-hard Yarn Mallets (stray away from using large heavy mallets), a Marimba and Metronome. - If a marimba is not accessible, a xylophone or bell kit will do just fine. - Make sure to use the proper acrylic or hard rubber mallet. 2a. Scales: 2b. Excerpt: Instruction for Performance: Play the excerpt, all in full strokes, at the written tempo.
