A most varied selection of connector cross sections, spacings and types of connectors offer a maximum of project flexibility. Insulating Bases Metal Parts The insulating housings of products are made of high quality PA 6.6-V0 polyamides which are characterized by their UL 4V/0 flammability classification. Tracking resistance CTI/0 according to IEC 1/ DIN 03/ Part 1. For further electric properties please see table below and applicable characteristics. Standard colours are, gray, black and orange. Special colours are available on request. Dovetails and/or snap bars allow two-pole and three-pole units to be converted into multi-pole terminal blocks. All metal parts contained in CONTA-CLIP products are electroplated according to latest processing methods including state-of-the-art surface treatment. As a rule, all steel parts are electrogalvanized with an additional passivation by means of a blue (yellow) chromatic plating being applied to the galvanized coating. In addition to its good and stable electric properties this galvanized coating also acts as an excellent protection against a corrosive ambience. As regards the terminals which are made according to the wire protection principle, the clamping body consists of brass alloy. The wire protection is designed to protect the connector from extreme deformation while the electric contact is being kept at an optimum. Characteristics: flexible, unsusceptible to fracture good electrical and mechanical properties improved continuous working temperature compared to PA 6.6-V2 improved flammability resistance compared to PA 6.6-V2 fireproofing agents free of halogen and phosphorous no dioxin or furan generators The clamping part of the terminals which operate according to the strain-relief clamp principle (lifting principle) are made from brass alloy using a suitable annealing process to keep it free from tension. The nickel plated clamping part surface along with its tinned soldering lug bring about low volume resistance and high corrosion protection. High quality corrosion and acid resistant steel is used for the tension spring system. The wire protection serves to prevent the wire from shearing off or tearing away. The strain-relief clamp principle consists of pressing the wire indirectly via the screw and strain relief clamp against the conductor bar (soldering lug) whereas the necessary contact force is generated via the easy to operate screwed connection. This system also serves to provide a gastight and shatterproof connection between wire and conductor bar. With this increased starting torque due to the elastic deformation of the clamping bodies additional thread friction is provided this automatic and auxiliary safety. As regards the eccentric top principle the wire is pushed into the clamping point in parallel direction of the screwdriver. With view to certain types of installations, e.g. small lateral distances in mounting frame, this system offers outstanding accessibility to the contacts. As a rule, this system comes with two soldering lugs. The tension spring principle is similar to the proven strain-relief clamp principle with the tension spring also featuring the separation between mechanical and electrical functions. The corrosion and acid resistant steel tension spring is designed to pull the wire toward the galvanized copper conductor bar. Minor contact resistance and high corrosion resistance are achieved by the tinned surface of the conductor bar. This condition is being maintained due to this equalizing effect. As regards the leg spring principle, it is possible to position solid conductors or stranded wires with ferrules directly into the clamping point without the use of any tools. The leg spring brings the wire in contact with the conductor bar. 6 Printed circuit board terminals Range of Types and Connections Since many years, - print terminals for printed circuit board connections offer numerous possibilities of low cost and economical connection techniques. Screw type print terminals have been tried and tested for quite a number of years now and it is hard to imagine the printed circuit board without them. Available are the wire-protection, eccentrictop and strain-relief-clamp-principles. All of them are based on modular designs with two-pole and three-pole individual terminals which can be converted into multi-pole terminal block by using dovetail connections. This allows for flexible and economical inventory management. In addition, some series also provide block design versions with a non-variable number of poles ranging from 2 to which are specially suited for long pole applications. Due to their technical design, these principles are highly suited for extreme conditions such as heavy vibrations, a corrosive ambience and extreme fluctuations in temperature. The springs are operated by means of a screwdriver, actuation tools or lever. Constantly high clamping forces and good electric values can be achieved owing to perfect material quality. Due to its variety the plug-in connector program offers numerous possibilities for connection. 55 Plug-in connection system -TS suitable for rail mounting Plug-in connection system -TS Connection Examples The plug-in type connection system -TS was designed to meet the ever increasing requirements in regards to both modularity and flexibility in switch cabinet and machinery production. This system serves to facilitate to connect separately wired control board sections for integration into the allround installation. In this case, the wire between two control board sections is embedded in the -TS basic element of one of the sections whereas in the second section the according wires are embedded in the B/PBT counter section. The -TS basic elements are mounted to the rail with catch feet, which are designed for individual assembly to the TS, TS or TS DIN-mounting rails by means of a rail mount TS/ or TS/. This permits both sections to be easily connected after installation of the switch cabinets. The type of connection technology (strain-relief-clamp or eccentric) is determined by the type of the plug-in connection element B/PBT. The 2- pole -TS elements are also available with screwed flange. The -TS basic elements can be screwed to the corresponding plug-in connection element and are thus secured against unintentional loosening. According to the type of the -TS and B/ PBT combinations, different connecting directions are possible (see RH). When using several -TS and in order to prevent same from being incorrectly plugged in a control board section, B/PBT with their approved coding system can be coded without loss of poles (cf. pages 1-1 for further details). The CONTA-CLIP rail mounting system RS-SP is designed to enable you to produce quite a number of rail-mountable electronic connections by individually adapting the shaped profiles to the according printed board lengths. AP0/TS RS-SP0 AP0/TS The RS-SP profiles RS-SP1 and RS-SP2 have 2 connector levels and are delivered in 2 m lengths and are easy to cut into the required sections by means of a saw.
