Our wide choice of door sizes will also allow you to complete all areas of the home, including all those odd sized cupboards at the top of the stairs! Innovative use of materials gives a surprisingly strong and robust finished product, that is easy to install and looks great. Fielded Panel Timber Insert for Locks Painting and Finishing Most of our moulded and primed doors are factory prepared and ready for finishing. It s important to use good quality brushes and ensure the work area is well ventilated. Ensure a base coat and two top coats are used for the best finish. Satin Finish 10 INTERNAL DOORS

6 Internal Doors Typical Softwood Glass Door Construction Fixed Quadrant Beading Toughened Glass Softwood Frame We use traditional tongue and grooved jointing techniques in the construction of our softwood doors toughened glass gives an added safety feature in case of accidents. Preparation and Finishing Use knot stopper to seal in the resin It s important to fully prepare your doors prior to applying a finishing coat. A feature of softwood doors in particular is the presence of knots and other natural features. Knots should be sealed to prevent the sap bleeding through over time, as this can discolour the finished door and look unsightly. For varnished/lacquered doors we recommend a shellac based sealer. For painted doors either a shellac based sealer or aluminium based primer should do the trick. INTERNAL DOORS 11

Solid Oak Raised Mouldings Varnishing and Finishing Preparation is vital to ensure that your hardwood doors have a quality finish which will last over time. Ensure you use good quality stains (if required), varnishes, brushes, and cleaning materials and clearly follow the manufacturer s instructions. Polyurethane based products tend to give a more durable finish, however water based finishes can be quite handy in terms of drying time and cleanup. We do not recommend wax, polish or oils on veneered products. 12 INTERNAL DOORS
