6 Our design principles 6 Chasing perfection: We chase perfection so that we catch excellence. We do not use standard off-the-shelf components. Instead we custom design every component in our products, making sure that everything is designed and configured for maximum performance. We refuse to compromise on quality so we hand-build every camera, using the finest manufacturing traditions Medium format: We use many high-quality ingredients to create our cameras. The medium format is essential Ingredients matter Like a Chef in a gourmet restaurant, access to fresh, high-quality ingredients is crucial. The medium format is an essential core ingredient that enables the world s best photographers to win Michelin stars by creating extraordinary images. Sensors: You cannot fool the heart The heart of a camera is the imaging sensor. Our medium format sensors are the largest cutting-edge sensors on the market; up to 2.5 times larger than the sensors found in full-frame 35mm DSLR cameras. These sensors mean that our digital backs are capable of creating the best image quality imaginable, reproducing the finest details in one shot, even in scenes with a wide dynamic range from virtually pitch black to extreme highlights. Pixels: Pixels are not made equal When it comes to pixels, our cameras achieve the best. We have the most pixels of any camera - up to 80 million pixels per image and due to the medium format sensor each pixel is capable of gathering massive amounts of light. The speed of the shutter mechanism is critical when controlling the balance between daylight and flash. All 35mm cameras use the focal plane shutter, which is mechanically limited to a relatively slow flash synchronization speed (max 1/250second). In comparison, our sophisticated Schneider Kreuznach leaf-shutters can reach speeds of 1/1600s. Flexibility: We adhere to an open platform philosophy enabling photographers as composers. In our opinion, elegant camera solutions are tailored to each specific project. 8 The Phase One camera system Many of the world s most demanding photographers rely on Phase One digital camera systems. The system is based on the 645DF+ camera. The camera ideally integrates 35mm handling, speed and individual setting options with the unmatched image quality and precision of a medium format digital system. DIGITAL BACK SUPPORT The Phase One 645DF+ camera body supports numerous digital back interfaces including the IQ and P+ series digital backs as well as multiple third party digital back brands. THIRD PARTY LENSES Add even more lens choice. Multimount adapters allow you to use selected third party lenses with your Phase One 645DF+ camera body. UNIQUE LENS SUPPORT The 645DF+ camera supports focal plane leaf shutter lenses alike. With leaf shutter lenses the camera will automatically switch between using leaf shutter and focal plane shutter depending on the shutter speed required. The switching preferences can also be customized. INTERCHANGEABLE DIGITAL BACK The digital back is interchangeable, allowing you to upgrade your digital back when your needs or resources change - without replacing the rest of your system.
