3 Over two-thirds of UK smartphone users check their device before getting up in the morning and more information about device usage The Multi-Screen Landscape How are people in the UK using devices? Which device are you most likely to use for the following activities? TV remains the most common form of media interaction 66% 64% 62% 58% 56% TV viewers 46% report seeing more than 20 ads/ day. Of those that spend 3+ hours online/day 43% see more than 20 ads/day. French people understand that they need to logoff at night! 51 % 9 % are using several devices simultaneously Using desktop computer Watching TV 33% are using another device simultaneously 37% are using their tablet 36% are using their smartphones Laptops and computers are the devices most likely to be used to access the Internet Devices Used to Access the Internet, against of people under 35 Source of stress and happiness 71% 22% 72% 24% SMART V The gap is even bigger when looking at daily usage. 3 FRANCE /fr
5 The Multi-Screen Landscape A closer look at device usage in Germany from browsing to buying, how are we using our online devices? How are people in Germany using devices? The Internet has become the most common form of media interaction 56% 55% 54% 53% TV viewer - 28% report seeing more than 20 ads/day. 51% TV INTERNET 36% see more than 20 ads/day on the Internet. German people like to logoff at night! Computers remain the most common devices on which to access the Internet. Devices used to access the Internet 47 % 18 % check SMART TV 55% Interestingly, when looking at daily usage, we notice that the gap is reducing. German people use more and more their smartphone to access the Internet. 4 GERMANY Watching TV Compared to their European neighbors, German people are not really multi-screeners. More happy than stressed 92% 5% 9% are using their smartphone are using their tablet 77% /de
6 Smartphones first: 69% of Aussies Smartphone upon waking up How are people in Australia using devices? Watching TV is still the most favorite activity for Australia! 30% 10% 39% report seeing more than 20 ads/ day (TV). 29% see more than 20 ads/day (Internet). Australians use smartphones primarily to search for contacts, which is different from all other countries! Australians are addicted to phones as well! 62 % 69 % 29 % phone 15 minutes prior to & Laptops have the highest level of engagement. Working Watching TV Tablet Laptop 13% are using a Smartphone 15% are using a Smartphone 21% are watching TV 43% nothing else 30% nothing else Smartphones are the device most likely to be used to access the Internet Devices Used to Access the Internet SMART TV Interestingly, when looking at how often the devices are used, the gap between Laptop and Smartphone is smaller. 5 AUSTRALIA 75% 22% 84% 37%
