1 Instruction of ZTE Grand S SD card upgrade The software version and pictures in this document are just for reference only. Please use the version that download from ZTE handset support website to upgrade SD card, SD card upgrade supports upgrade the same version or upgrade to the higher version. I Backup information and attentions before upgrade: 1. Please take out SIM card before upgrade, and use Backup function to backup data information and application program of handset(it is required to insert SD card),enter into main menu to select Backup & restore function, as shown in the picture 1-1: Picture In the process of backup data information and application program, do not move SD card, it is recommended that do not interrupt the backup procedure, avoid losing of user data; 3. Check whether the copied update.zip upgrade package from SD card root directory is corresponding with to be upgraded device, do not modify the file name and expanded name of upgrade package; 4. Check whether the battery capacity is sufficient, if it is insufficient, 第 1 页

2 please charge the battery firstly, till the battery sufficient, it is recommended that do not charge and upgrade SD card at the same time, avoid the data losing and upgrade failure; 5. In the process of upgrading, Do not make other operations and do not take out battery by force, avoid upgrade failure; 6. SD card upgrade will finish in 4~5 minutes, if the handset cannot be rebooted or responded after 5 minutes, please upgrade again, If the handset cannot be powered on, please upgrade SD card by force, if upgrade SD card by force is invalid, please contact with after-sales ASC for disposing. II. The steps of SD card upgrade: 1. Download SD card upgrade package which is corresponded with operator and model from handset service support page of ZTE website place update.zip into the root directory of SD card (The file name must be update.zip), as shown in picture 2-1: Picture After selecting File Manager in main menu, switch into External Sdcard directory and check whether upgrade package update.zip file is normal, as shown in picture 2-2: 第 2 页

3 Picture Check whether it can search for upgrade package, press main key return to the main interface and press menu key,enter into System settings Update Storage card updates path, as shown in the picture 2-3: 第 3 页

4 Picture In the interface of Storage card updates, tick Erase virtual SD card by default, before clicking OK key to upgrade, please backup the user data in Virtual SD card or cancel the tick, avoid the data losing after upgrading, click OK key to upgrade, if the upgrade package already be in the root directory of SD card, then it will enter into user data backup confirmation interface, and you can click Update now key to upgrade and without backup data, it is recommended to click Back up & update key, so the handset will quick backup user data before upgrading, as shown in the picture 2-4; if the handset cannot be installed SD card or there isn t version software upgrade package in 第 4 页

5 SD card root directory, then it will prompt No external memory card! or Do not find update package on storage card, please confirm that update package has been copied to root directory on storage card!,as shown in picture 2-5: Picture 2-4 第 5 页

6 Picture In the Quick backup(local) quick backup interface (Picture 2-4) click Update key, now the handset will auto power off, as shown in the picture 2-6: 第 6 页

7 Picture Handset enters into SD card upgrade interface directly after restarted; 7. Handset will restart again after upgrade completely, and after started, the handset can be used normally, till now upgrade completely. III.
