Market sources said contrary to what they expected sales have not been very encouraging. Unlike in many countries, where Chinese phones have gained much popularity, in Qatar, consumer response has not been favourable. Buyers still look for known brands such as Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Samsung and LG, perhaps because they are not only popular, but have also established a good reputation in the market, said a retailer at Souq Najada, the city s bustling centre for mobile phones and accessories. Falconry is part of Qatar s cultural heritage and much effort is exerted for the protection and breeding of this type of bird, for several reasons. The main reasons include love for the beautiful and courageous form of falcons capturing prey, as well as their value to hunters honing their craft. Falcons are considered to have dignity since they eat what they prey upon and their vision and agility are highly valued as they help hunters to develop their skills. Another reason for their protection is that they do not breed outside of their natural environment and season. They rarely lay eggs or breed in the GCC states because the atmosphere is inappropriate for the growth of their young.
