8 Additional Computer Courses Digital Literacy (32 hour course) Prerequisite: None Students will learn the skills necessary to communicate with the world in multiple media formats in a healthy, safe, and responsible manner. Specifically students will learn: how to use the internet and web including internet safety, and etiquette, internet terminology how to use social media critical and creative thinking Google Docs (12 hour course) Prerequisite: None Google Docs is a free Web-based application in which documents and spreadsheets can be created, edited and stored online. Files can be accessed from any computer with an Internet connection and a full-featured Web browser. Users of Google Docs can import, create, edit and update documents and spreadsheets in various fonts and file formats, combining text with formulas, lists, tables and images. Google Docs is compatible with most presentation software and word processors. Students will learn: all about Google Drive getting started with Google Drive creating Google documents uploading files to Google Drive managing files Introduction to Computers (12 hour course) Prerequisite: None Jobs today require you to know how to use a computer. This training introduces basic keyboarding techniques to create professional looking documents. Students will learn: how to create, develop, enhance and save Word documents how to create easy to use spreadsheets in Excel how to create dynamic presentation in PowerPoint including inserting text, ClipArt, sounds, and animation effects what the different icons mean in Outlook how to efficiently use your inbox to get organized how to create your resume; get your own e mail address, and how to do online Job Searches. 8
9 Additional Computer Courses (cont d) Introduction to Hardware and Network Concepts (24 hour course) Prerequisite: None To better understand the digital world it is critical to understand the technology that makes it all possible. Students will learn : basics of computer, mobile, and information technology how to assemble and disassemble a computer about memory, hard drives, USB Ports, network cards, power supply, DVD drive, video cards, and wireless cards start a computer and make sure all of its parts are working correctly Intro to Programming (16 hour course) Prerequisite: Intro to computers workshop or basic computer knowledge. This course provide students with the understanding on how software programs are design, developed and tested using standard software development practices. This course DOES NOT teach a specific programming language. Students will become familiar with: introduction to Software Development Life Cycle 3 Categories of Programming mathematical and Conditional Operators this workshop is intended for use as an introduction to these concepts for students who have no prior programming experience. Software Development Fundamentals (20 hour course) Prerequisites: Intro to Programming workshop The content is introductory level and help students understand the various aspects of software development. The course focuses on key fundamental concepts that all software developers need to know. This is NOT a programming class. Students will begin to understand: core programming desktop applications object orientated programs understanding databases Web 2.0/ LinkedIn Beginning (16 hour course) Prerequisites: Participants must have basic computer skills and be able to use a MS Office software and Internet Browser. Also Must have: an account and be able to access that account from w2f computers (must bring/ know your sign-in User ID and password) bring a Flash Drive with the following file son the drive : Completed resume in a MS Word doc file format A professional facial picture in jpeg format After this class, students will : have their own LinkedIn account maximize LinkedIn use to find new jobs and hidden opportunities through different networks increasing the effectiveness of job search and/ or career climbing. 9
10 Additional Computer Courses (cont d) QuickBooks 2013 Basic (16 hour course) Prerequisites: Introduction to Computers or basic computer knowledge QuickBooks is a small business accounting package that organizes and tracks finances in one place. QuickBooks displays a snapshot of business information, prints checks, issues purchase orders, tracks inventory, pays employees and bills customers. Students will learn how to : generate and interpret business reports to gain business insight on financial, customer, vendor, product, and employee information bank with QuickBooks QuickBooks 2013 Intermediate (16 hour course) Prerequisites: QuickBooks Basic or equivalent experience. This course will go beyond the basic introductory concepts. Students will learn how to: manage vendors and pay bills track inventory run payroll use QuickBooks Reports perform QuickBooks maintenance customize QuickBooks QuickBooks 2013 Advanced (16 hour course) Prerequisites: MS QuickBooks Intermediate workshop OR equivalent experience. The QuickBooks 2013 Advanced course will provide an opportunity for hands-on practice of the software fundamentals introduced in the Basic and Intermediate courses. Students will navigate the software to accomplish common business tasks and work independently to complete exercises using sample business scenarios. In this course, you will explore preferences, troubleshooting, and core functions of the soft-ware. Students will learn to: create a company file perform data entry tasks to input customer & vendor records import and Export data to populate lists and run reports use the Layout Designer to customize templates and forms perform maintenance and create backup company files 10

Business Math is mathematics used by financial, manufacturing, construction, commercial industries to record and manage business operations in accounting, inventory management, marketing, measurements, sales forecasting, financial analysis and more. Business Math is information everyone needs no matter the industry. Even for personal use! Business Writing (16 hour course) Prerequisites: None This workshop addresses both beginning & advanced business writing. Sales proposals, meeting minutes, reports, employee announcements your written communication can make or break your professional reputation. Communication happens only when you write something that somebody else can read and understand. Students will learn: the stages of writing the Proposal the three C s dealing with specific requests Business Etiquette 101 (16 hour course) Prerequisites: None. This workshop will help you better understand etiquette in business environments. As times change, so do social norms for personal and professional behavior, but that doesn't mean basic etiquette doesn't matter. How you treat your customers is key to presenting your organization in the best light possible. In this workshop you will be introduced to concepts, terminology and practices of basic bookkeeping. You will learn how documents such as invoices, purchase orders, receipts, bank deposit slips and pay checks represent transactions that help companies maintain control and improve performance. Students will learn: the accounting equation: Assets = Liabilities + Equity cash basis accounting versus accrual accounting basic accounting terminology and concepts elements of the balance sheet and profit and loss statement the difference between customers, vendors, and employees purchase orders, invoices, receipts, and checks computerized accounting Bookkeeping and Accounting Intermediate (20 hour course) Prerequisites: Basic computer knowledge, MS Excel experience and Bookkeeping and Accounting Basic. In the Intermediate Bookkeeping and Accounting workshop you will learn how the recording of financial transaction leads to the management of an organization s finances. After delving deeper into the Balance Sheet, Profit and Loss Statement, and Cash Flow Statement, you will learn the bookkeeping process from start to finish. Upon completion of this workshop students will be able to describe: intermediate accounting terminology and concepts generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) double entry accounting theory and practice (debits and credits and T-accounts) key journals and the general ledger the accounting cycle Bookkeeping and Accounting Advanced (20 hour course) Prerequisite: Basic computer knowledge, MS Excel experience and Bookkeeping and Accounting Inter. In the Advanced Bookkeeping and Accounting workshop you will learn more concepts and techniques that may require interactions with accountants and financial analysts. As bookkeepers record underlying transactions it is useful to understand how the information is used by others in the organization, including management. This class will dispel the mystery. In this class you will learn the basics of being a Notary and that they are a public official who notarizes legal documents and who can also administer and take oaths and affirmations. In the United States, the Notary is a signing agent, also known as a loan signing agent, who specializes in notarizing mortgage and real estate documents. Learn some of the duties of a Notary. Students will build the business plan of their dreams and learn about what it takes to start and run a business. This training gives budding entrepreneurs the foundation and tools needed to reduce risk and start a business. Our Entrepreneurship training is the blue print to building a living business plan.
