4 Certificate Expirations David Kinnunen Residency Teacher First Issue expiration dates added o Expiration dates have been added for those educators holding a Residency Teacher FI or PS certificate Reported for 1.5 FTE or more Reported in a teacher role Auto notification sent to educator IF a valid address is on record in E-Cert notification sent to HR and ESD staff Certificates expiring June 30, 2018 o Run certificate expiration report in E-Cert and verify with school district records 4

5 Paraeducator Updates David Kinnunen Paraeducator minimum employment requirements o Effective September 1, 2018 At least 18 years of age a. Receive a passing grade on the education testing service paraeducator assessment; or b. Hold an associates of arts degree; or c. Have earned seventy-two quarter credits or forty- eight semester credits at an institution of higher learning; or d. Have completed a registered apprenticeship program. 5

7 PESB Meeting Review Coleen Putaansuu Initial consideration for additional STEM related endorsements o Expanded list of STEM related endorsements 51 endorsement codes o This is initial consideration and no decision has been made Decision may be made at March 2018 PESB meeting Initial consideration to allow clock hours to be earned for renewal of a National Board certificate o Currently educators who submit all sections of National Boards earn 45 clock hours, and earn another 45 clock hours for earning the National Board certificate Board is considering a process to allow educators to earn clock hours when they renew their National Board certificate o This is initial consideration and no decision has been made Timeline: Consideration May 2018 with adoption July

Coleen Putaansuu Eliminate the option to use unemployed less than full-time status to obtain a Residency two-year renewal o Residency Certificate holders Educators will no longer be able to obtain two or three-year renewal based on submitting affidavit and being employed less than full-time o This is initial consideration and no decision has been made Decision may be made at March 2018 PESB meeting Additional items 8

10 Notes of Interest Mallory Torimino Certificate expiration notifications o Expiring certificates 2018 Early January- sent to all educators holding ANY certificate expiring June 30, 2018 o Residency FI/PS expiration dates generated for 2018 Expiration dates added Jan. 29, 2018 Auto s sent to Educators who have a valid in the E-Cert system Jan. 30, sent to HR and ESD staff Jan. 30, 2018 o Upcoming notice for expiring certificates notification will be sent to certificate holders in late February 2018 Educators who have NOT taken action to renew or upgrade their expiring certificate NEW Certification website o To be deployed the end of February or the beginning of March
