3 Policy Updates & Changes Administrator Pro Cert Programs The Board approved the emergency amendments to eliminate the current program- based model of professional certificates for administrators. Residency Administrator certificates holders with an expiration date of 2019 and earlier will be eligible for a three- year renewal. The application will be available in paper and applicants will have access to download and print from the Certification web page. Board Consideration to Revise Endorsement Pathway Chart Board motioned to develop a process that would move all but six endorsements to pathway 1. Six endorsements would remain pathway 3: Elm Ed, ECE, Sped, EC Sped, ELL, Bilingual. NO CHANGES made at this time. 3

4 Policy Updates & Changes School Counselor Proposed 2 nd Tier Certificate Options Board directed staff to develop new language for the 2 nd tier ESA School Counselor certificate ProCert programs will no longer be mandatory. NBCT will remain as an option to earn the Professional ESA certificate Courses or clock hour completion to move the Continuing ESA certificate No immediate changes, decision is NOT final Changes to Emergency ESA Certificate Requirements Board approved changing language for the Emergency School Counselor certificate Enrolled in a school counselor program Hold a bachelors degree 4

5 Certification Office Reminders Notifications with Excel files will be sent to HR personnel Residency 1 st and 2 nd renewals at risk of losing their certificate and need to take action Encourage the lifetime Substitute certificate option ProTeach Timeline (following slide) Late Registration- register by 4/30/2017 for submission deadline of 06/28/2017 Residency FI ESA and Administrator certificates reissue requirements Completed two consecutive years of successful service in the role with a Washington public school or approved private school and signed a third-year contract or returned for a third year since the issuance of their residency ESA/Administrator certificate. Expiration dates are NOT automatically generated on these types of certificates Educators are responsible for their certificates Remind educators to create an E-Cert account, login and view/update their contact information Notifications are sent to the address provided in the educator profile 5

7 Certification Office Reminders When running the certificate expiration date report in E-Cert Compare results to school district records DO NOT use a single date, instead broaden search Example: 7

8 E-Certification Updates Recent Deployments in the E-Certification System The Certificate Expiration report has been updated and runs/returns results quicker The TPEP check box has been added to the Professional Development portion of E-Certification records The Fingerprint search screen has been updated to show the glossary Deficiency now shows a strike through if removed Example: 8
