1 J O B S P E C I F I C A T I O N & R E C R U I T I N G P R O F I L E O F V A C A N C Y The following vacancy exists at NSFAS. 5 April 2018 Position Senior Systems Engineer Type & Grade Permanent, Grade Vacancy No 2 of 2018/2019 Department & Unit ICT, Infrastructure and Operations POSITION OVERVIEW The successful applicant will be required to support the NSFAS ICT infrastructure. The primary tasks include installing, configuring and managing client and server environments comprised mainly of (but not limited to) technologies such as Linux, MS Windows server and IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) cloud platforms, whilst at the same time being able to keep abreast with new technology trends. The incumbent will report to the Senior Manager: ICT Infrastructure and Networks.

2 RESPONSIBILITIES Manage and deliver on ICT infrastructure projects, Perform routine systems administration functions (Linux and Windows); Implement DevOps technology; Monitoring and support of IaaS cloud environments, Hardware and software support; Support of the business applications; Troubleshooting technical issues and managing of problems; Monitoring systems performance and taking corrective actions; Liaising with 3rd party service providers and suppliers; Maintaining system and related business documentation; Structuring the environment for maximum up time and ensuring that there are suitable backup and recovery processes in place; Set up guidelines and develop standards for the installation, maintenance and support of the ICT infrastructure Document daily procedures, check lists and required systems documentation; Ensure the ICT CMDB is up to date, Automate systems monitoring; Monitoring, evaluation and reporting. 3 DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Minimum requirements: A Diploma or degree in Computer Science/ Information Systems / Information Technology or equivalent qualification; Red Hat Certificated Systems Administrator (RHCS) or related Linux certification; Minimum of 8 years ICT experience of which there are at least 5 years relevant experience in supporting a mixed Linux and Microsoft Server Windows environment; Good written and verbal communication skills (in English); Recommendations: ITIL Foundation certification COBIT certification TOGAF certification Experience working in the financial services sector Competencies: Linux (Ubuntu, Red Hat DevOps technologies MS Windows Server 2012 or higher Active Directory MS Office and Visio Cloud technologies e.g. Windows Azure or AWS Basic Networking (routers, switches, communication protocols, Internet, firewalls) Hardware (Intel based servers, storage arrays) Backup technologies; Infrastructure security protocols and technologies Infrastructure monitoring tools. REMUNERATION & BENEFITS Remuneration Package: Benefits and Conditions: R R per annum Total Cost to Company per annum inclusive of all benefits and company contributions.
