1 First Half Practical Examination First Half in Computer Science at M.Sc. Part II (Revised Programme) PRACTICAL EXAMINATION IMPORTANT GUIDELINES FOR CENTER 1. Collect all the material required for the examination from the University two days before. 2. Allot the duties to experts, peon, lab attendant and lab assistant. 3. Prepare the files for center as well as external examiners consisting of session-wise day-wise list of seat numbers, instructions and rough mark lists. 4. Keep the lab ready on 5 th April by O clock with all the software s loaded in working condition. 5. Start all the sessions on exact time and conduct the examination as per schedule. 6. Prepare a folder which consists of all related data and software s needed to conduct the examination. 7. 2 First Half Practical Examination First Half in Computer Science at M.Sc. Part II Instructions to the Head of the Institution and Head of the Department IMPORTANT :- 1. University has decided not to print the Practical Question paper and send it to the centers, university will be ing the same - The head of department, CC to Center In-charge. 2. The file will be encrypted by a password. The password of the same can be sent to The Principal and head of department half an hour before the commencement of exam. 3. It will be then the responsibility of the Principal and head of department / Center-In-Charge to take the printout in the given time and start the exam on time. 1) The center should provide ONE lab attendant, ONE lab assistant, ONE expert, and ONE lab supervisor for each session for the practical examination. The University shall provide TWO / THREE EXTERNAL EXAMINER for each session for the duration of the PRACTICAL EXAMINATION. 2) The EXTERNAL EXAMINER shall assign the marks for THE PRACTICAL EXAMINATION for which they are appointed. A FILE with a rough mark-list bearing day-wise, session-wise list of students must be kept ready. A rough MARK-LIST should be prepared as follows: Seat No. PART A Component Out of 12 / 10 PART B Component Out of 8 / 10 Journal / Viva Out of 5 Total 3) There will be between 15 and 24candidates at the center in any session on any day for practical exam. In any given two hours practical slot session THERE WILL BE between 30 to 48 candidates doing the practical for the paper mentioned in front of them. Each student will perform the practical for two hours for one paper out of I, II, III and IV. 4) IMPORTANT: Z The designated expert faculty shall set up a directory MSC13 under the root of the file system prior to the assessment in each of the machines used for examination. Further, subdirectories named by student s University Seat Numbers shall be created under this directory. Z The candidate will store all his/her work solely in that subdirectory. Page 2 of 10

Part II INSTRUCTIONS EXAMINERS 1) Kindly go through the Instructions to Candidates as well as Instructions to the Head of the Institution. 2) For the PRACTICAL EXAMINATION, the break-up is as follows: Marks per PRACTICAL PER PAPER Total 25 marks Actual practical: 20 marks, Journal / Viva: 5 marks Marking scheme: PART A Component - 12 / 10 marks PART B Component 8 / 10 marks 3) Please be present 20 minutes before the scheduled examination time. 4) Check that the directory MSC13 is created and sub-directories for all students appearing on a day are created. 5) Before the start of the examination, brief the candidates about the mode of conduct of examination. Take pains to put them at ease. 6) The expert faculty will guide the candidates to the proper place. Check whether the relevant CERTIFIED JORUNAL is deposited at its designated place before the candidate goes to the machine. 7) Follow the marking scheme as given above. 8) Record the marks on the answer sheet and ROUGH MARK-LIST provided by the college. 9) Transfer the marks to the computerised mark-list provided by the University after the assessment is over. In any case the marks should be entered before the examiners leave the lab at the end of the day. 10) Center In-charge/Sr. Examiner will submit the mark-sheets duly filled and signed within TWO DAYS AFTER THE END OF YOUR EXAMINATION THE CHAIRPERSON. *********************************** Page 3 of 10

Candidates must be present at the place of Practical Examination at least 30 minutes before the examination. 2. Candidates who fail to present themselves at the time of the practical examination will not be examined. Mobile phones/electronic gadgets are strictly prohibited 3. Candidates should carry the Hall Ticket and the Certified Copy of the concerned Journal on practical examination day. 4. The student is required to submit the certified copy of the journal at the start of the examination. 5. Session I is divided into two slots-from 8.30 am to am and am to pm. Session II is divided into two slots-from 1.00 pm to 3.00 pm and 3.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. 6. Each student will have a practical examination of 2 Hours on a particular day for one paper according to the schedule given in the time table. 7. All the files created by the students during practical examination must be stored in the folder MSC13 in C:\ drive created for the purpose. Under no circumstances the files should n o t be copied anywhere on the disk, on any external storage devices or on the network. 8. The student has to attempt two parts in each paper. The student must show the intermediate steps as output on the terminal to the examiner and save his/her file from time to time. 9. The answers to the questions, if any, should be written in the main answer-book. 10. The final printouts are to be attached to the main answer-book. 11. The student can avail of the help option available in the software as mentioned in the Time Table. Page 4 of 10
