2 Introduction Introduction CSTA Multiplexer (MUX) is a software application that multiplexes information sent from the PBX, allowing multiple servers or PBX applications to receive information from the PBX. About the Quick Reference Guide This Quick Reference Guide is designed to serve as an overview of the features, setup and installation of CSTA MUX. The Quick Reference Guide is divided into the following sections: 1 Specifications This section provides general information about the features in CSTA MUX. 2 System Requirements This section provides the minimum and recommended system requirements for installing CSTA MUX on a PC. 3 Software Installation This section explains how to install and uninstall CSTA MUX. IMPORTANT CSTA MUX manages servers that contain personal information. In order to prevent data theft and leakage, we recommend the following: Set a password-protected screensaver to activate after your computer has been idle for a set amount of time. Use Windows Update to keep your system up-to-date with the latest software patches. Set a login password that is at least 5 characters long, and contains a combination of letters and numbers. When the computer used for CSTA MUX is transferred, disposed of, or taken out of service, ensure all sensitive data is securely erased. Carefully manage access to the CSTA MUX computer, and install a firewall to prevent unauthorised access from the internet. Whenever possible, use SSL or other forms of secure data communication. Take care when making settings for CSTA MUX, and keep a record of all settings data, in case you need to re-install CSTA MUX. Keep any recorded settings secure to prevent access by unauthorised parties. When having the computer running CSTA MUX serviced, use only authorised technicians. 4 1 Specifications Introduction to CSTA MUX CSTA is a communication protocol used by CTI applications. KX-NS1000 and KX-NCP/KX-TDE series PBXs support only one CSTA connection at a time. CSTA MUX is software that allows two or more simultaneous CSTA connections with your PBX, which allows two or more CTI applications to be used at the same time. For example, you can connect your PBX to CA Server, and at the same time connect to another CTI Application. The CSTA MUX program is installed on a computer in your PBX s network. PBX CSTA MUX CTI Application Server Single CSTA Connection CA Client CA Client CA Server Note Some types of CTI applications (such as serverless installations of CA Client) and non-cti applications (such as CA Call Accounting) do not require a CSTA connection to function, and therefore do not require CSTA MUX to run. Using CSTA MUX Once CSTA MUX is installed and running on your computer, an icon will appear on the computer s task tray. Hovering your mouse over the icon will display a status message for CSTA MUX. The icon will also turn red if there is an error, or if CSTA MUX is not in service or is not functioning properly. You can double-click the icon for information about CSTA MUX. Right-clicking the icon brings up the options menu, where you can configure program settings, get information about the multiplexer s status, or enable, disable, or terminate the program. 4 Quick Reference Guide

5 CSTA MUX Information Conditions Notice For the computer running CSTA MUX, disable any sleep mode or hibernation mode settings. This will ensure the program will be able to run without interruption. A maximum of 4 servers can be set to receive information multiplexed by CSTA MUX. Using CA Server with CSTA MUX Only one CA Server can be set to connect to CSTA MUX. CSTA MUX version 4.0 or later is required to connect with CA Server version 4.0. Quick Reference Guide 5

7 Activation Key Model No. KX-NS1000 KX-NCP/KX-TDE Activation Key Type Description KX-NSA020 KX-NCS2020 CSTA Multiplexer CSTA Multiplexer Activation Key for one application. When using CSTA MUX, one CSTA Multiplexer activation key is required for each CTI application. The following CTI applications do not require an activation key: CA Server PA Server The activation key is registered to the PBX. For more information about registering activation keys, refer to your PBX s Installation Manual. Once the activation key is registered with your PBX, you can use CSTA MUX. Notice The activation key file can only be installed in the PBX with the MPR ID number entered when the activation key file was downloaded. The activation key file cannot be reissued unless the MPR card crashes. Quick Reference Guide 7

8 3.1 Installing CSTA MUX 3 Software Installation 3.1 Installing CSTA MUX 1. Double-click the setup program according to your operating system configuration: 32-bit version: Setup(WORLD).exe 64-bit version: Setup64(WORLD).exe Follow the on-screen guidance to install CSTA MUX. 2. When installation is complete, launch the CSTA MUX program. When you start CSTA MUX for the first time, the screen below is displayed: Set your language, MUX listening port, PBX connection IP address and port numbers, enter the information for each server to be monitored by CSTA MUX, set the call record detail client, and click OK. Call Detail Record Client In order for a CTI application to obtain Call Detail Records (SMDR data) from the PBX, it is necessary to specify the target CTI application s IP address. Only one application can be specified for receiving the PBX s call record details. Note When configuring CTI applications for use with CSTA MUX, the CTI application s target IP address should be set to the IP address of the computer running CSTA MUX, not the IP address of the PBX. Two listening ports can be set; one for Panasonic CTI applications, and one for third-party CTI applications. Ensure that your CTI applications are set accordingly to communicate with the correct port. 8 Quick Reference Guide

To uninstall CSTA MUX, perform one of the following procedures: From the Start menu, point to All Programs Panasonic CSTA MUX, and select Uninstall.
