There have been a few updates and price changes since the last version but don t worry, we ve highlighted them for easy identification. System x and Storage ServicePac refresh We have provided you with a more complete coverage for your System x and Storage service needs by standardising the offering and ensuring that we have the service level offerings required by your clients at a market competitive price. What this means to you is: More offerings with a reduction in pricing for the most popular offerings Standardisation of the offerings Categories A F are all 3 year standard warranty Categories P U are all 1 year standard warranty. Point of Sales ServicePac refresh We have provided a full range of service offerings for the SurePos express 300 & 500 bundles. As the printer is bundled as part of the Express offering only 1 ServicePac is required per bundle. Therefore the cost of the Express ServicePac is less than purchasing ServicePac for both the terminal and the Printer. Please also note that the 4820 touch screen has been moved from terminals to the peripherals category. SurePos Express ServicePacs are now available for Years 4 & 5. Software ServicePac refresh Operational ServicePacs now support Linux and are available for 1 or 3 years terms covering both standard 9x5 and premium support 24x7 support. The Operational and VM ware support ServicePac pricing has been reviewed to ensure that the offerings are competitive in the market place. Heads-up on an important issue: some users are forgetting to complete the registration process or are making errors, preventing activation of services. Let s ensure our customers get the service they are paying for please make sure you activate ServicePac. 4 How to select the most appropriate ServicePac Today s IT environments of server, storage and network systems and implementations range from basic file servers to mission-critical data centres. Your technical support needs vary and must keep up with your ever-changing business requirement. Here are some ideas to better select the ServicePac that suits your business: The Challenge I need to ensure all five IBM servers supporting our users are available 24x7x365 no exceptions. Options selected here: 24x7x4 hours on their IBM servers (page 5) and storage devices (page 6), and upgraded end of next business day response on their IBM printers (page 11). However, I knew that if something did fail, my support staff wouldn t be skilled enough to fix the problem quickly. Confirm locations and dates required to install the equipment and select Implementation ServicePac ServicePac for installation: Identify your server types and simply choose IBM to install your operating system 2. ServicePac for Hardware Support: With this installed inventory, look for the category and then select the required service levels for each server: 1-5 years, 9x5 or 24x7, 2/4 hour response or 6 hour Rapid Repair 3. Order the ServicePac options through your IBM Business Partner* or direct with IBM 4. Activate to ensure correct support working with IBM to plan, install and understand the new installation. 5 Why activating your ServicePac is important? Activating your ServicePac provides us with vital information about the service level requirements for your server. This means that we can be better prepared to meet your business needs, by ensuring that we have enough IBM skilled specialists and the right parts available, to cover your servers installed location. Rather than the administrative uncertainty at time of crisis, you can be ensured that your support call to IBM is handled fast and efficiently. How to purchase an IBM ServicePac 1 Order Place your ServicePac order directly with IBM or through an IBM Business Partner*. Your order must come with an address to ensure the following steps can be covered. Please note: for Business Partners orders may only contain ServicePacs for one end customer. 2 Confirm The key contact, as specified in your order, will receive a registration request via . This will normally be sent the next business day after receiving your order and includes activation instructions and a link to the registration website. 3 Activate To avoid delays in accessing service, please ensure you activate the ServicePac immediately. This is how you do it: Access the ServicePac registration website (you will find the weblink in the ) Review the ServicePac terms and conditions. Complete customer contact information On registration processing screen, click on blue form hyperlink and provide hardware purchase date, machine/type/model and serial number details to complete the activation. To ensure prompt service response, it s important you provide the exact equipment location when registering. 4 Complete System validates and activates IBM ServicePac, a confirmation is sent. ServicePac or an IBM ServiceSuite maintenance contract? IBM provides a comprehensive range of support options. Typically, ServicePac will continue to be the offering of choice where single products are to be covered, in a prepaid, fixed price offering with fixed service levels. However, when you need to contract services across the entire organisation where additional service levels are required or multiple systems are involved, ServiceSuite is the preferred option. Contact your nearest Business Partner* or IBM to discuss ServiceSuite or any other IBM support offering. How does IBM deliver on your ServicePac? Problem strikes!
