2 COMMUNITY ENERGY SCHEME METERING REQUIREMENTS Metering Partner Requirements to cover; Electricity, Water, Gas (or Heat). Amber Energy require a metering partner who can install meters at sites of circa 200 units to 1000 unit schemes that they will be working on from 2017 to The total number of units is expected to be in the region of 10,000 units so a robust partner with project scale and innovation for installation is key. The following slides demonstrate how we wish to connect the scheme up and the different options of consideration. The objectives are to provide a low cost, robust solution, to transferring data on how much electricity, gas (or heat) and water, each unit of a building is using. The buildings haven t been built but utilising as little space as possible is also key. DATA REQUIREMENTS The following must be sent from the site: Electricity Gas Heat Water kwh Consumption Consumption Reading Consumption Reading Consumption Reading Room ID. Room ID. Room ID. Room ID. EXISTING SYSTEMS Systems Compatible already (note must send data from site and not just be stored on a local head end PC): Andover, Cello, Cougar, Daq, Demma, Dynamat, Eco Warrior, EMT, Envido, MeterRing, Multilog, Niagara North, Qonnectis, Sentinel, Synapsis, Trend, ULog, WebRTU SENDING DATA Data will need to be sent in a certain format and a specific location depending on the system elected. If we procure the installation process we can pre-configure the meters so that they connect once they ve been installed. If the data collection system is one that has been approved an address can be provided for data download from the site and sending of this to a certain location in a certain format via CSV FTP.

3 HEAT METER Likely to be installed on the incoming flow to the room but will depend on the set up of hot water and space heating for the unit. Legislation on heat networks will require this as a mandatory inclusion for the new build environment. PULSED WATER METER Locality may vary but will need to have a pulsed output. ELECTRICITY METER OR DIN RAIL ELECTRICITY METER Either can be used for electricity. DIN Rail Metering makes it possible to put together a meter box off site before commissioning to reduce the build costs. Meter must be MID compliant. DATA PROVISIONING The connection of the metered data to the end system Comm:Unity (for billing and app use/display to the occupier) is derived by sending the data from each unit via the sub- meter installed to a specific IP address either (i) directly based on the resolution of the meter reader (ii) via download and pushing of the data via CSV/ FTP or (iii) via manual reading of each meter and entry into the system by the occupier or the management company. The following illustrations of meters are for illustrative purposes only. However in each case the requirements are confirmed in each adjacent box for metering. Ultimately as long as the installation complies with the regulations and provides reliable and accurate data from the site it is likely to be suitable; not forsaking an ongoing requirement to maintain the meters. NB: (iii) is not generally suitable due to the type of resident/brand/experience the product is designed for i.e. access to the residence property each month and/or the resident reading their own meter OR issues of meter reading problems/incorrect billing occurring during the period. All meters must have pulses and be connected to send data remotely off site; this can be via a BEMS, WIFI, CAT5, or GPRS but in any case must be preconfigured to send the data to the right location. Each unit must be individually metered for Electricity, & Heat. Water may also be included.

Electricity meters installed within the riser space in DIN Rail formation to reduce down the space. DIN Rail box s could be pre-configured by the installer to reduce installation costs and capital costs of installation. Heat Meter s and if installed, water meters, are unlikely to be installed in the same space and/or be suited to this noting a heat exchange unit is more likely to be in the close proximity of the unit.

All meters installed in the locality of the room areas. Meters are installed with a GPRS sim and pre-configured to send data to the Comm:Unity System. Each meter installed has annual data costs for sending the data. For instance the electricity meter costs per room are illustrated as 16 per annum.

6 RISER ELEC METER LOCALITY; HEAT METER LOCALITY WATER METER LOCALITY DIN RAIL BOX IN RISER RADIO TECH COLLECTOR ILLUSTRATION THREE Pulsed meters with pulse connectors sending data to a central data collector. Radio-tech (or similar) pulse counters are connected to collect the usage data and send this from site to the system via a data aggregator box. The annual data costs for the site are vastly reduced as the data is collected at site level before being sent. However the capital costs are slightly higher as each meter has to have a pulse counter connected to it at circa 75. This means that in this model the capital costs are washed out such that ((75 x n + (650/n))/16; roughly a 5 years payback for schemes as most will have n=200+ (more than 200 units).

7 EACH ROOM HAS SUB METERS EXISTING MIDDLEMAN SYSTEM RECEIVES DATA FROM MULTIPLE BUILDINGS & TRANSLATES INTO A USABLE FORMAT API LAYER FOR TRANSMITTING DATA DATABASE COLLECTS TRANSLATED DATA ADMIN LAYER ALLOWS CREATION AND TAGGING OF BUILDINGS, ROOMS, USERS, FAIR USAGE POLICIES, ETC TENANTS AND BUILDING OWNERS CAN VIEW THEIR DATA THROUGH MULTIPLE DEVICES (DESKTOP, MOBILE, TABLET) ILLUSTRATION FOUR Each room will have a sub meter within the building and the installers submitted by amber or directly from the M&E consultants will have to send data to a specific IP address. The data will be received via amber energy s system and will then send data to a databased which translates the data. An app will be built to function within the existing client space. The illustration to the left illustrates how this is connected and the amber API makes it possible to see individual usage via an app on the phone, tablet, or computer.
