4 LANmark Snap-In Toolless Connector - screened (STP) cable How to strip an STP cable Installation of Cat 7 products is much more critical than installing Cat 5. The high performances can only be guaranteed if the installation procedures are followed. Special attention must be given to keep the untwist lengths of the pairs as short as possible. STP ± 45 mm ± 60 mm (outlet) ± 120 mm (patch panel) STP cable : Cut off the outer jacket and braid for the shown length. Position the pairs of the cable as follows : Brown Blue Orange Green 13 mm 60 mm Important Remark : Altough marked on the cable holder, you should not use the A-colour coding as a valid option. 5 Slide the wire organiser onto the 4 pairs at the same time. Respect the colour code on the wire organiser. Do not untwist the pairs. The distance to the inner foil must be as short as possible. The inner foil must go into the wire organiser and attention must be paid that : the foil of the pairs goes properly into the chambers, especially the crossed pair. make sure the foil is not inserted too deep, otherwise it could make contact with the IDC contacts when inserting the wire organiser in the jack. Pull the pairs over the pair splitter respecting the colour code. The brown conductor is at the outer side. The blue, orange and green conductors are all on the inner side. Use a pair of cutters to cut off the overlength of the pairs and bend the remaining wires into the wire organiser. 6 Use a screwdriver to separate the 4 pairs a little bit from each other to allow easy insertion of the metal cross of the connector between the pairs and to avoid that the foils are damaged during insertion of the connector. Position the wire organiser correctly oriented on the back of the connector. Push manually until you hear a click. 7 Next put the assembly in the new comfort tool (with the N marked) and close it. Let cm braid to give contact with the U-part. The braid must be positioned under the U-part but may not contact the wire organiser to avoid short circuits with the IDC contacts. Rear cover mounting : hinge the first side of the rear cover on the connector. Then, slide the U-part in place to make contact with the foil.
