RJ45 (ISO 8877) user connector, screened and unscreened versions. Colour coding in conformity with cable colour coding. Omega Twisted Pair Modules come in several versions : Horizontal cable module for 4 pair FTP/STP/UTP cables Ethernet modules with Telco 50 pin mass termination to active equipment Token Ring modules with Telco 50 pin mass termination to active equipment Easy to install and modify : all operations are performed at the front side electrical connections by colour coded IDC contacts, using a single tool special contacts are provided for termination of the grounding wires on the MPP RJ45 ISO 8877 compliant modules with colour coded T 568B and T 568A pin configuration.

27 LAMBDA 1 HU OPTICAL FIBER & TWISTED PAIR PATCH PANELS WITH INTEGRATED SLIDE MECHANISM For Lambda twisted pair, optical fiber and hybrid connector modules. The Lambda range is a highly modular set of connectors, surface mount enclosures and patch panels. The Lambda patch panel is a 1 HU full metal housing. The Lambda patch panel range accommodates all Lambda connector modules with 3 and 6 connections (see specific datasheet). All modules offer an integrated cable fastener (tie-wrap) mechanism. Installation of cables is performed outside of enclosure or patch panel for easy access. Cabled modules snap into enclosure or patch panel through a 'Slide & Click' movement. No tools required. The patch panel is equipped with a sliding mechanism for easy access when mounted into a cabinet. This time saving mechanism facilitates front side installation. For copper cables, the Clip-On cable guide provides fast and easy cable retention and grounding.

29 OPTICAL FIBER TECHNOLOGY INTRODUCTION & PRODUCT OVERVIEW Patch panels are supplied without adapters 2) OPEN THE FIRST SPLICE TRAY Patch panels come in three kinds : front plate only front plate + platform front plate + drawer 1) PRESS AND HOLD Splice trays can be stacked by means of spacers Optical Fiber installation requires a choice between two cable termination techniques : direct connectorising onto the optical fiber cable, or the use of splicing techniques. On site connector mounting Connector mounting typically includes cable stripping, preparation of the fibers and the use of Hot Melt connectors, connector mounting, drying, polishing and testing. Installation practice is being facilitated, amongst others by using Hot Melt connectors. On site splicing Taking into account the present state of the art in splicing techniques, on site splicing will be the more economical solution although it may take more time. Pigtails are manufactured and verified in laboratory conditions. On site these pigtails are mounted onto the cable using high quality mechanical or fusion splices, guaranteeing perfect quality. 33 OPTICAL FIBER SPLICING Optical Fiber splicing is one of the cable termination techniques. The other possibility is direct connectorising or connector mounting onto the cable. The splicing technique requires the following installation material : pigtails universal splice trays and spacers splices : mechanical splices require : mechanical splices 250/900 µm splice holders for ATI splices fusion splices require : fusion splice protection sleeves splice holders for fusion splices adapters to be integrated in outlets and patch panels (see separate datasheet) tooling : mechanical splice tool kit, including fiber cleaver fusion splice tool kit Optical fiber pigtails are required for splicing onto main cables within patch panels Available for all industry standard ST and SC connectors, multimode and monomode. Standard 62.5/125/900 micron or 50/125/900 micron fibers : 50/125µm fibers comply with CCITT G 651 and IEC 793/2 specifications. 62.5/125µm fibers comply with IEC 793/2 and FDDI specifications. 35 OPTICAL FIBER ADAPTERS Optical Fiber adapters are mechanical devices which allow two connectors to be coupled. They are to be used in conjunction with optical fiber connector modules, outlets and patch panels. Adapters come in several versions : identical connections (e.g. ST to ST) hybrid connections (e.g. ST to SC) simplex or duplex with fixed attenuation multimode and singlemode Simplex adapters are preferred to be used for the Alcatel outlets. Duplex adapters are preferred in patch panel faceplates.
