1 Parts and Accessories Installation Instructions TV function retrofit kit BMW 7 Series (E 65 and E 66) These installation instructions are only valid for cars with SA 69 (navigation system) Important information The retrofit kit is for use within the BMW dealership organisation only. Subject to technical modifications. Before installing the retrofit kit, use the latest CIP application to ascertain the car's status and if necessary update the software in accordance with the action plan. The actual duration of the software update can vary for technical reasons. Target group The target group for these installation instructions is specialist personnel trained on BMW cars with the appropriate specialist knowledge. All work must be completed using the latest BMW repair manuals, circuit diagrams, servicing manuals and work instructions in a rational order using the prescribed tools (special tools) and observing current health and safety regulations. Installation information Ensure that the cables/lines are not kinked or damaged as you install them in the car. When installing fibre optic cables, do not bend them through a radius of less than 5 mm. The installed cables are to be secured with cable ties. If the specified PIN chambers are occupied, bridges, double crimps or twin-lead terminals must be used. After the installation work the retrofit TV function must be coded using DISPlus, MoDiC III or GT- via the Retrofit path. Ordering instructions If the car is fitted with a 9 Ah battery, this battery should be replaced by a more powerful Ah battery. Information on operation The TV function is only active when the car is at a standstill. Installation time Approx. 4 hours, but this may vary depending on the condition of the car and the equipment in it. Preparations TIS instruction No. Check the CIP application (see Important information) --- Conduct a brief test --- Disconnect the negative pole of the battery The following components must be removed first of all: --- Seat bench Rear backrests, left and right Centre armrest Door sill cover strip on the rear left and right C pillar trim on the rear left and right C pillar trim on the front left and right Cover on C pillar at bottom left and right Aerial booster (no longer required) Rear screen aerial booster (no longer required) Boot trim on the left Release the Top-Hifi amplifier (if fitted) Release the rear window shelf 5 46 Retrofit kit No (others see cover sheet) Installation Instructions No Issue date: 8.22 EN/4

8 5. To install and connect the wiring harness When installing fibre optic cables, do not bend them through a radius of less than 5 mm. Remove the navigation computer. 2 3 Disconnect the plug X635 from the black plug (3) and disconnect the outgoing fibre optic cable (2) from PIN 2. Remove the sheath () from the fibre optic cable over a length of approx. 25 mm. X Z A A4 X635 Connect branch A4 on wiring harness A to PIN 2 of plug X635. Connect plug X635 to the black plug (). A Z Connect branches A and A2 into the green plug X33 as follows: - A, SW cable to PIN 3 - A2, shield, to PIN A A2 X Z Undo and release the tied back joint connector X889. X394 A5 A6 Connect branch A6, RT/WS cable, to joint connector X889. Lock and tie back joint connector X889. Connect branch A5 to earth post X394. 9 5. To install and connect the wiring harness 2 3 X642 Lay the fibre optic cable (3) from the standard wiring harness (2) behind the module holder () to branch A3. Connect the fibre optic cable (3) to PIN 2 of plug X642. Connect plug X642 to the blue plug of branch A3. 3 A3 A Z 2 Connect plug X33, () and (2) to the navigation computer (3) and install the navigation computer (3). X Z Insert the video module C into the module holder () and secure it with hexagonal screws F. 10 6. To install and connect the aerial wiring harness Connect branches B and B2 to the video module C. C B B Z B3-B4 Lay branches B3 and B4 to the front into the passenger cabin. NAVIGATION SYSTEM Z D B3 Connect the existing plugs to the aerial booster D and install the aerial booster D. Connect branch B3 to the aerial booster D and install the aerial tuner (). B4 Lay branch B4 under the rear window shelf (2) to the right C pillar Z B4 E Connect the existing plugs to the rear screen aerial booster E and install the rear screen aerial booster E.
