Delivery of your new Projection equipment Delivery of additional mounting hardware required to fit with your building construction Installation to the existing construction code in your area Connect your new Projector to existing electrical outlets using standard cables Start up and test your new Projector to insure that it is working properly Clean up the installation site Remove and dispose of packaging materials Includes User Training via teleconference providing guidelines for proper use of your new projector, available at times scheduled by 3M during the month. 8 3M MISD Pre-Installation Survey Warranty 3M warrants that when the 3M Product is used according to 3M s Intended Use Statement ( it will perform satisfactorily for the warranted durability period as stated in the applicable 3M Product Manual in effect at the time of purchase. The warranties stated in the applicable 3M Product Manuals are exclusive and are made in place of any and all express or implied warranties or conditions, including any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose, or any industry practice or custom or trade usage. Failure to follow the instructions contained in the appropriate 3M Product Manual or to use the 3M Product in accordance with 3M s Intended Use Statement, will void all warranties and limited remedies. Route Cables Feed the USB, VGA, and optional control cables through the arm. 22 For use with: SCP715, SCP717, SCP740 SCP715, SCP717 SCP Align the cables alongside the power cable and secure using cable ties. 3M Folding Wall Mount SCPFWMV2 and SCPFWMSV2 5.3 Using the appropriate bit, drill 4 holes for the mounting lag bolt anchors. Install the short anchors in the upper holes, and the long anchors in the lower holes. Note: Use a 1/2 masonry drill bit for solid concrete walls or a 3/16 drill bit for wood walls. Do not use anchors for wood walls, only use screws. 5.4 Using a 3/8 socket, install the 2 short (upper) mounting lag bolts, leaving 1/2 (13 mm) of the screw protruding from the wall. Do not install the long (lower) lag bolts Solid Wall Installation (For Concrete Block or Stud Walls, Skip to Step 7) Determine desired size and location of projected image and mark the location of the top and center of the image. Locate the top of image line of the template for the desired image size and then align top of image and image center line lines with the location of the desired image size. Then mark the positions of the template s four cross-hairs on the wall /2" (13 mm) Attach to Wall Hang the wall mount base on the mounting lag bolts. 23 For use with: SCP715, SCP717, SCP740 SCP715, SCP717 SCP740 3M Folding Wall Mount SCPFWMV2 and SCPFWMSV2 6.2 Install the long mounting lag bolts through the leveling screws and tighten securely. 7.4 Concrete block walls: Mark the hole positions in the vertical joints between the concrete blocks and then using a 1/2" (13 mm) bit, drill 4 holes 1-5/8" (41 mm) deep into the vertical joints between the concrete blocks. Install 4 long anchors in the holes. CAUTION To reduce the risk associated with impact: short lag anchors. 16 in (406 mm) 6.3 Skip to Step M Wall Mount Bracket Installation (For Use With Concrete Block or Stud Walls) Determine desired size and location of projected image and mark the location of the top and center of the image. Align template with mounting holes in bracket and secure to bracket with tape. Locate the top of image line of the template for the desired image size and then align top of image and image center line lines with the location of the desired image size. Mark positions for four mounting holes according to the next step. 3M Folding Wall Mount Mounting Template 4X LONG Stud walls: Mark the holes at the center of the studs and then using a 3/16" (5 mm) bit, drill 4 holes 1-1/2" (38 mm) deep through the wall into the studs. 24 3M Folding Wall Mount SCPFWMV2 and SCPFWMSV2 7.5 Using a 3/8" socket, attach the bracket to the wall using 4 short mounting lag bolts. 8.3 Install the long mounting screws through the leveling screws and tighten securely Attach Wall Mount Base to Bracket Using a screwdriver, install the two short mounting screws with washers in the mounting bracket leaving 1/2 (13 mm) of the screw protruding from the bracket. Do not install the long (lower) mounting screws yet. 2X 2X Install Security Kit (Optional) Attach the optional security cable by either locking it to the mounting bracket security slot (1), looping it through the mounting bracket (2) or looping it through the screw-mount anchor point (3). 8.2 Hang the wall mount base on the mounting screws. Using a screwdriver, tighten the mounting screws securely Note: If using the screw-mount anchor point, secure the anchor point before attaching the cable. 9.2 Feed the security lock cable through the arm. Secure about 6 inches (150 mm) from the end of the existing cable bundle using a cable tie. ~6" (150 mm) 24 of M. All Rights Reserved.

Attach the power and audio cables to the existing cable bundle using a cable tie. Leave ( mm) slack cable Connect Power Extension Cable Connect the power extension cable as shown. 26 13.0 Attach Projector 13.1 Using two screws and the thumbscrew, attach the mounting bracket to the end of the arm extension as shown. Note: First tighten Phillips head screws snuggly onto the ball swivel and then turn thumbscrew to tighten the clamp onto the ball M Folding Wall Mount SCPFWMV2 and SCPFWMSV2 Assemble Arm Extension Lift the assembly and feed the bundled cables through the open end of the arm extension Attach the projector to the mounting bracket with three screws. Note: Some Models will require two washers per screw to ensure a tight fit Insert the arm extension into the arm as shown Install the 2 screws into the arm retainer. 26 of M. All Rights Reserved.

27 3M Folding Wall Mount SCPFWMV2 and SCPFWMSV Pull the cable bundle through the hole at the end of the arm extension Adjust vertical image position by removing the cover, loosening the lower mounting lag bolts or mounting screws, and adjusting the leveling screws. Tighten the lower mounting lag bolts or screws when finished, and replace the cover Connect the cables to the projector according to the Quick Start Guide. Attach the optional security cable to the projector Align Projector Power on unit and change image size by adjusting the arm extension in or out To adjust horizontal image position: 1. Remove the cover. 2. Loosen the adjustment and locking screws. 3. Move the arm left or right to the desired position. 4. Tighten the adjustment and locking screws to secure the arm in the new position. 5. Replace the cover when finished Adjust projector aim by loosening the thumb screw. 44 SCP Installation Notes and Tips Accessory Wall Bracket Notes: Recommended for mounting either 3M Fixed or Folding Wall Mount units to concrete block or hollow wall applications. Easier to position the projector above screen for best image results. Tips: Use the Template provided with the 3M Wall Mount kit to correctly position the wall mount bracket over the whiteboard. Note: When correctly positioned, the wall mount is slightly off center from the centerline of the whiteboard or projection screen. Plan installation accordingly. If the whiteboard is already installed, then determine the center of desired image area on the whiteboard. Use this image area centerline reference and the template to determine the bottom location of the mounting bracket. This technique will position the wall mount to project an image that fills the defined/desired screen area. Align bracket holes over studs in hollow wall. Mark and drill holes into studs to secure the bracket to the wall. Attach Wall Mount and align to image area centerline reference. For cinder block or brick wall applications align bracket holes with mortar seams between the bricks or blocks. This will make it easier to drill the holes for the lag bolts. Attach Wall Mount and align to image area centerline reference. Folding or Fixed Wall Mount Bracket: Tips: Remember to install the I/O module control cable per the instruction prior to hanging the Wall Mount. Use the Template provided with the Wall Mount kit to correctly position the wall mount bracket over the whiteboard. Note: If the whiteboard is too close or far from the bottom of the wall mount, there may be image distortion from keystoning. Tighten the ball clamp screws in the ball joint mounting bracket first before tightening the clamp onto the ball with the long plastic thumbscrew. For Folding Mount with Speakers, make all of the connections then power on the device. Do not apply power to audio power supply until it is connected to the amplifier in base. Do not plug speakers into active (powered on) audio sources. Whiteboard or Screen: Determine the desired location for the whiteboard or projection screen and use the template to verify there is enough height above the desired screen location to properly install the Wall Mount. After mounting the whiteboard or projection screen, use the Template provided with the Wall Mount kit to correctly position the wall mount bracket. Note: If the whiteboard/screen is too close or far from the bottom of the wall mount, there will be image distortion from keystoning. I/O Module: Version 1 I/O modules only operate the Computer Out Port when the Projector is illuminating an image. If operation is desired when the projector is in standby mode, then a splitter or selector switch for the attached monitor is required. Version 2 I/O modules and afterward are pass through on the Computer Out port and do not need any additional equipment to operate an attached monitor while the projector is in standby mode. For best results, the projector should be attached to the USB Port farthest from the Audio Power output jack (refer to 3M Operator s Guide & 3M Quick Start Guide). 45 Annotation Pod: Pen skips are caused by signal reflections (interference) from raised surfaces near the borders of the screen surface. To prevent pen skips, insert a 1/2 inch round molding at the raised edge. The edge of the molding will stop unwanted signal reflections. Add ½ round molding beneath the cork pin up railing along the top of the board. The edge of the molding will stop unwanted signal reflections that cause the pen to skip. Pens not detecting any signal. This problem can be caused by general room interference, poor batteries, a defective pen or a bad microphone on the pod. If the pen is not being detected in the top portion of the screen, the Pod ID/icons reserved for the right side of the board may be a problem. This can be corrected by changing the pod product ID using the Product ID updater program. Contact Call Center at for details. Pods must be placed with the top microphone parallel to the top of the image and the side microphone parallel to the edge of the image. Misalignment of the pod will cause pen detection errors in the upper quadrant. The nearest upper corner of the image must be 5 inches from the center of the LED (3M logo) and 1 inch beneath the top microphone. 3M All Rights Reserved. 45 of 48

46 Image and Keystoning Issues While keystone correction is a handy feature for portable projector users, it does not produce an ideal picture quality. Scaling inside the projector creates a slightly distorted image, particularly at the sides of the screen. Therefore, the installer should always try to manually position the projector to have the squarest image possible. The best picture will always be from a projector that has not had its keystoning adjusted. Super Close Projectors (SCP) The 3M Super Close Projectors present a different perspective to keystoning issues. The projected image is already at an extreme angle. However, the lenses inside the projectors compensate the projected image so it should still be square on the screen. Tabletop: Position the projector perpendicular to the screen. The projector should be placed at approximately the same level as the bottom of the image or the bottom edge of where you want the image to start. Wall-Mounted: Use the installation template to correctly position the wall mount over the screen. It should not be centered over the screen due to the projector offsets and keystone adjustment. Adjust the image to be square and then extend the arm to fill the screen area. Most problems can be fixed with adjustments to the wall mount or the screen position. Adjust for Square Image 1. Push the arm all the way in to get the smallest image. 2. Use the ball joint to get a perfectly square image. Ignore whether or not the image is on the board. The key is getting it square and then tighten down the ball joint mount bracket. 3. Pull the arm out until the sides of the image match the sides of the board. 4. Use the feet of the wall mount to adjust up or down to get the vertical alignment correct. After you adjust the feet, eliminate any keystone by re-adjusting the projector at the ball joint mount bracket. 3M All Rights Reserved. 46 of 48
