TL - MUX Operation Guide Overview Fig. - TL - MUX Coordinates Data from TL ports onto a The DPS TL - MUX is a specialized data multiplexer for combining up to data lines using Bellcore (tm) Transaction Language (TL) onto a single TL line. By observing the delineating semi-colon at the end of each TL data packet, the processor in the TL - MUX is able to store and stack incoming data. The TL packets are then sent to the common port in the order received and transmitted to thetl interrogator or master one-at-a-time. AID and TID information, as well as alarm data, remains intact, giving the interrogating master undisturbed and complete alarm data. Incoming packets are stored in a 6 K buffer. Packets from the interrogator side are broadcast to all remotes, with full address information. The TL - MUX consists of five interface ports interconnected and controlled by a processor. Associated with one port (the common or MUX port) is a communications subassembly that allows the physical interface for that port to be configured to match the associated communications channel or device (RS, RS/85 or 0 modem). This model of the TL - MUX is equipped with RS interfaces on the other ports (-). The TL - MUX is housed on a plug-in board that fits in a 00-Type card housing. The back of the housing provides appropriate connectors for interfacing the associated devices. The actual MUX board can be changed rapidly without removing any of the connections. The front panel of the TL - MUX provides LEDs for monitoring unit activity. The TL - MUX operates on either - or -8 Volts DC, depending on the option. 3 TL MUX Shipping List TL Network Elements Verify the following items were included in the shipment: TL - MUX Fuses -.5 Amp (/8 Amp) Registration Card TL - MUX Operation Guide To OSS Installation TL MUX Unpack the MUX and all accessories. (Do not plug MUX card into shelf yet.) Fill out and mail the pre-posted registration card. Mount the 00 shelf housing (separate item) in the Rack. Connect power wires to barrier terminals on back of shelf. (Refer to shelf documentation for terminal locations.) Connect communications lines to connectors on back of shelf. (See shelf documentation for connector locations.) Module connector pin-outs are shown in Fig.. Set DIP switches for data rates (see fig. 5 and Table B). If not factory installed, install comm. subassembly. Set jumpers on subassembly (see Fig. 5). Verify that power is correct for the option. See Options and Model Number section at the end of this Operation Guide. Plug MUX card into shelf. Insert fuse in appropriate slot in shelf fuse module. NOTE: Always remove fuse before removing or inserting MUX card. Proceed with testing per shelf Operation Guide. 4 The LED display shows DIP switch status when the SWT button pressed and held. Test the LED display by pressing both the SWT and buttons at the same time. The Button by itself has no function.
