Information and communication As an independent and multidisciplinary scientific body, CO 2 GeoNet has an important role to play in building trust in CO 2 geological storage and supporting large scale implementation of CCS Brochure available in 30 languages

10 Scientific Advice activities CSLF stakeholder champion for Europe CO 2 GeoNet and UK Carbon Capture and Storage Association (CCSA) are the CSLF European Stakeholder Champion CO 2 GeoNet and CCSA hosted European Stakeholder event, 6 th October 2017, Brussels Key messages for Ministers from European Stakeholder Group Recommendations and practical actions

11 Scientific Advice activities ISO 265 WG1 Capture WG2 Transport WG3 Storage WG4 Quantification & verification WG5 Crosscutting issues WG 6 Enhanced Oil Recovery The objective of TC265 is to provide recommendations for the safe and effective storage of CO 2 in subsurface geological formations CO 2 GeoNet was granted a Category A Liaison to ISO TC265 in early Category A Liaisons are organizations that are expected to make an effective contribution to the work of the Technical Committee

12 Training activities ENOS Through ENOS, CO 2 GeoNet is contributing to three summer schools, an e-learning course and educational programmes Three intensive schools on CO 2 Geological storage are (for new researchers) E-learning course: reaching out to a broad audience (general public etc) ENOS will build a framework for a Master-level course (for MSc students)

15 Information and communication Annual Open Forum 12 th CO 2 GeoNet Open Forum: Driving CCS towards implementation 8 9 May 2017 (workshops May) Key messages from 2017 Open Forum: CCS deployed on a global scale is essential for achieving the Paris Agreement targets No success in meeting climate targets without CCS Urgent action needed to get things moving Sustained policy support is essential CCUS is only acceptable if it ends with S Learning by doing is essential: pilot/small scale projects are part of the process Knowledge sharing workshop: Bringing CCS into new regions developing countries
