In case you missed it, Jim Tauby from Mason Industries brought all of us up to speed on Seismic Restraint of Mechanical Systems. After the main presentation, Eric Meyer from Blackmore and Glunt provided a 30 minute tech session covering centrifugal pump selection and application. I thought both speakers were well prepared and provided very beneficial programs for the chapter. I hope everyone feels that the tech sessions are a welcome addition to the ASHRAE meetings. I saw a few new consulting engineers at the meeting and I hope the trend continues. I have heard that a few representatives are inviting consulting engineers to the lunches what a great way to grow the local chapter and enhance relationships at the same time. The addition of the Tech Sessions was geared to the YEA (Young Engineers in ASHRAE) members so don t forget to invite them. Next month s topic will be brought to us by Dean Ruplinger of Greenheck Fan Corporation. Dean has over 27 years of experience and is currently the General Manager of the Kitchen Ventilation Division. He will be presenting on the design and operation of Kitchen Ventilation Systems. Dean will follow-up the main presentation with a Tech Session on Energy Efficient Fan Selection. There are two things of particular importance and worth noting. First is the 2011 ASHARE Winter Conference and the ASHRAE co-sponsored AHR Expo is coming up on January 31-Feb 2 nd, This year s location is at the Las Vegas Convention Center. So start making your reservations and travel plans. Secondly with the rising cost of education, it is always a good idea to get someone else to pay for college how about ASHRAE? There are several different scholarship options out there so please visit to obtain more information and applications.
