Contact Chris Delgado if you have any leads! christopher.delgado@siemens.com President s Report Welcome back, and Happy New Year Alamo ASHRAE. Did any of our members by chance make their new year s resolution to get more involved with their local ASHRAE chapter??? Do you live in San Antonio or immediate surrounding area, and work in the HVAC&R industry? Are you passionate about the built environment and engineering based on latest codes and best practices? Are you a young engineer looking to grow your network and knowledge? Do you enjoy giving back to your community and promoting engineering profession? If you answered yes to any of these questions, look no further than Alamo ASHRAE. We have multiple opportunities to serve, network, and promote HVAC&R Engineering. Our local chapter is currently without a Chapter Secretary & Chapter Treasurer. Both officer positions are critical to ensuring smooth chapter operations into the future. Without new volunteers the Alamo chapter stands a chance of folding up operations in the coming years. It is important that our chapter membership is aware, and perhaps compelled to! 1 of 6!

But, hopefully everyone had the opportunity to reflect and recharge their batteries, and has hit the ground running in The chapter volunteers have been busy working and planning on the next few months. I d like to highlight a few upcoming events happening in early part of this year: Chapter Meeting- January 16, 2018 Here are the upcoming chapter events: YEA Rampage Hockey Night, Friday January 19th February Monthly Chapter Meeting, Tuesday the 20th AMCA Air Systems Engineering and Technology Conference, March 6th and 7th (see attached flyer for details) Save the Date! ASHRAE Region VIII CRC San Antonio, April Our meeting today has been canceled due to inclement weather. YEA Rampage Hockey Night & Refrigeration Tour- January 19, 2018 This year s Young Engineer s in ASHRAE Hockey Night and AT&T Center refrigeration tour is being co-promoted along with the local UTSA American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). The event is open to all ASHRAE chapter and student chapter members, along with their guest. Tickets can be purchased by contacting Chanson Douglas: Chapter Meeting- February 20, 2018 Local MEP Engineering Principal, Bob Frick will be presenting Psychrometrics. This month s chapter meeting will be held at the Double Tree, on third Tuesday of the month. As always registration in advance is appreciated. Accurate registration helps plan for meeting space, adequate food, and keeping presentations on time. 5 AMCA International Hosting Air Systems Engineering Conference Hyatt Regency San Antonio Riverwalk March 6-7, 2018 Air Movement and Control Association (AMCA) International Inc. is hosting the Air System Engineering and Technology (ASET) Conference United States on March 6-7, 2018, at the Hyatt Regency San Antonio Riverwalk. The two-track conference features timely and practical topics on design, specification, installation, commissioning and operation of commercial and industrial air systems. Track 1 focuses on systems and applications, including ASHRAE standards, energy efficiency, fire/smoke control, weather resiliency, indoor air quality, sizing/selection, and noise reduction. Track 2 focuses on the basics and fine points of air-system products, such as fans, dampers, and louvers. Certificates for RCEP-accredited professional development hours (PDHs) will be provided. The purpose of the conference is to help air-systems professionals improve engineering practice and stay on top of the latest equipment, technologies, standards, and specifications. Conference presenters are experts and educators in the field who will share their knowledge and first-hand experiences, including: Steve Taylor, PE, (Taylor Engineering); Jeff Boldt, PE, LEED AP, HBDP (IMBG/KJWW); Steve Wiggins, PE (Newcomb and Boyd & past-president of NEBB), Dan Int-Hout (Krueger), and David Sellers, PE (Facility Dynamics Engineering) ASET US 2018 will be held at the Hyatt Regency San Antonio Riverwalk.
