1 Sandy Spring Museum Fine Art and Artisan Exhibit Show Dates: September 14 November 27, 2011 Reception: Sunday, September 18, 2011, 2:00 4:00 pm Due to the timing of the logistics of this show and the beginning of our ALOG year in September, much of the show preparation and paperwork must be done over our summer break. It will take the cooperation of all participants to achieve our goal of a successful show. Item 1. The registration form is provided by the Sandy Spring Museum and must be completed by each participant. The form has been modified on the back for submission of a second piece of 2-D artwork and for 3-D work. Please mail the form and registration fee of $10.00 (covering reception food and music) to: Bill Mapes 8200 Goodhurst Drive Gaithersburg, MD The form and fee must be received by our May ALOG Meeting on Wednesday, May 4, Item 2. Take-in for show artwork will be our ALOG September meeting on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 (All 2-D artwork must be framed or gallery wrapped in adherence with ALOG annual show hanging guidelines). All show artwork must be delivered to the Sandy Spring Museum on the following Monday, September 12, 2011, 9:00-10:00 am by our show delivery volunteers. Our September meeting is the only available opportunity for all of us to be together at the same time to facilitate take-in. Item 3. The show opens on September 14, 2011 and ends on November 28, The reception will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2011 from 2:00-4:00 pm. It is expected that all participants will be present at the reception. The reception volunteers will arrive at 1:30 pm to set up the food. Item 4. The show ends on Sunday, November 27 th. Take-down is Monday, November 28 th from 9:00 10:00 am and must be picked up by our show delivery volunteers. All artwork will be picked up by participants at our ALOG November meeting on Wednesday, December 7, All participants must be present to pick up your work. We have no facilities for storage. Note: Please arrange to have an ALOG member or other designated person deliver or pick-up your artwork if you are not available. Delivery and Pick-Up is your responsibility as a participating member in this exhibit.

3 2011 ALOG Sandy Spring Museum Show 3-D Participants Guidelines Each artist is encouraged to enter only his or her very best work, as this show reflects the type of work that ALOG artists produce. Note: This show overlaps with our own ALOG Fall Show, so any item(s) you put into the Sandy Spring show will NOT be available for the Fall Show. You may not remove any item from Sandy Spring before the end of the show. Space Limitations: With the current list of 3-D artists who are entering, we will accept 3 items from each participant. EACH item must have an entry tag: Title of Work, Name of Artist, Price of Item. Titles may reflect the medium or components, or be fanciful. Such as: Jewelry Tree Agate Pendant Strand, Silver Pendant with Celtic Ring, Blue Mood, or Ceramics Chip n Dip Set, Frog Ocarina, etc, NO untitled, please. Display: All 3-D works will be displayed in the Plexiglas covered cases provided by the Sandy Spring Museum. This includes sculpture. Cases vary from low and wide to ones that are much taller. For that reason, we want artists to know that it is possible that not everything each artist enters will be displayed. If that occurs, the work not on display will be returned at the October ALOG meeting. Jewelry: Jewelry will be displayed on forms, preferably similar to the black or white velvet type sold at stores like Michaels (necklace, bracelet, etc.) or online. This will enable us to present the work in an upright position, although a few pieces may be displayed flat on the floor of the case. We are unsure of how to display rings for easy viewing and will welcome suggestions, but there are stands to display them as well. Jewelers will have to provide their own display forms (necklace stand, rings, etc.) and please label same with your name and not for sale. Jewelers may enter a set as one item (necklace, earrings, bracelet in any combination as long as they are designed to be a set and can easily be displayed together). Ceramics and Stained Glass: Artist display stands will also be utilized, if provided, such as easels for platters, or a device to lift a small item for better viewing. (Please label as yours). We will allow a ceramic grouping similar to the jewelers such as a teapot with an accessory item, or plate, cup, bowl together. With our short time to work on this, everyone is going to have to be flexible and understanding if something is submitted as a set and only part of it can be displayed for space reasons. Sculpture: Follow the usual ALOG guidelines of weight and height restrictions, but keep it to a size that can be easily displayed in a covered case.
