Tuesday, 6 December 2016 Industry Support for the IAEA Mission on Nuclear Security Organized by the World Nuclear Association (WNA) Tuesday, 6 December 2016, p.m. Conference Room M4, M building, ground floor This event will look at how the World Nuclear Association s Security of the International Fuel Cycle Working Group, a forum for industry experts that supports industry engagement with the IAEA in the field of security. A light sandwich lunch will be provided. Terror Unleashed - an Assessment of Global and National Impacts of a Nuclear Terrorist Attack. Organized by the NPSGlobal Foundation, the Latin American and Caribbean Leadership Network and the Permanent Mission of Argentina Tuesday, 6 December 2016, p.m. Conference Room M7, M building, ground floor This event will present a report focused on how a terrorist nuclear detonation, anywhere in the world would affect all the meaningful dimensions of human activity, in all countries. Experts will describe impacts on defense and security, international and national governance, economy and finance and behavior of individuals an societies. In addition they will share specific policy recommendations on prevention and preparedness, as well as on ways to enhance the current nuclear security regime.a light sandwich lunch will be provided.

Wednesday, 7 December 2016 Award Ceremony for the IAEA Nuclear Security Essay Competition on the Future of Nuclear Security: Commitments and Actions Organized by IAEA Division of Nuclear Security and the Permanent Mission of the United Kingdom Wednesday, 7 December 2016, p.m. Board Room A, M building, second floor Award ceremony for the three essay winners of the first-ever IAEA Essay Competition, in which students and young professionals were called to write about the future of nuclear security. Each winner will present his/her essay verbally and answer questions. The IAEA Director General and the UK Ambassador will present the awards and make remarks. IAEA Arrangements for Response to Nuclear or Radiological Emergencies Wednesday, 7 December 2016, p.m. Conference Room M5, M building, ground floor This event will present the IAEA arrangements for response in terms of scope, objectives, procedures, operational arrangements and training. 3 Keeping up the Momentum on Nuclear Security Improvements Organized by the Fissile Material Working Group (FMWG) Wednesday, 7 December 2016, p.m. Press Room, M building, ground floor Experts from the Fissile Material Working Group (FMWG), a non-governmental coalition of 80 international organizations working to provide action-oriented policy solutions to keep the world safe from nuclear and radiological terrorism, will provide policy recommendations on major steps to be taken to make achievable progress in nuclear security. Strengthening Nuclear Security through Exercises and Scenario-Based Policy Discussions Organized by the Permanent Mission of the United States Wednesday, 7 December 2016, p.m. Board Room C, C building, fourth floor This lunchtime event will share recent experiences in organizing Exercises and Scenario-Based Policy Discussions related to Nuclear Security. Scaling up Worldwide Capacity to Manage Disused Sealed Radioactive Sources Organized by the IAEA Thursday, 8 December 2016, p.m. Press Room, M Building, Ground floor This event will introduce the IAEA concept of Centre of Reference to support the scale up the capabilities for the management of disused sealed radioactive sources (DSRS) to improve global security and safety. Review the options for DSRS management, volume of work to be done, estimation of needs and current limitations to do more. Share experiences from Member States and discuss how to facilitate the optimization of DSRS management. Open discussion on the enabling conditions and gather all the thoughts, advice and potential support strategies of the participants.
