5 IIRSM Updates Notice of IIRSM Extraordinary General Meeting Monday 13th August 2018, IIRSM HQ Having received independent advice and following its meeting on 26 June 2018, IIRSM Council has considered and approved some significant changes to the Institute s governing documents in order to modernise its structures.
6 IIRSM Updates Notice of IIRSM Extraordinary General Meeting These changes require approval from the membership at an Extraordinary General Meeting, with 75% of votes cast by Fellows, Specialist Fellows, Members, Specialist Members and Associates, required to be in favour of the changes. Option to Vote online or via proxy was provided via shot on 23/7
7 IIRSM Updates IIRSM President Andy Hawkes will make his first visit to the UAE 8 th - 13 th September, escorted by Chief Executive Phillip Pearson Branch Committee will plan a schedule of meetings with Regulatory Authorities, and other interested parties. Members are welcomed to suggest persons of interest or volunteer to host an organized site visit during their stay
8 UAE Branch Updates Registration of IIRSM UAE branch has taken a significant step forward, with budget and next steps approved at the last IIRSM Council Meeting. Formation must be through Dubai Chamber of Commerce, with a physical address (e.g. Hot desk) at Dubai WTC. This may potentially be achieved in time for the UK Leadership visit. Benefits: Work within the UAE s legal requirements for associations Access to excellent meeting room facilities in Dubai Enable ability for local banking facilities, assisting with membership payments and local transactions (e.g. sponsorship & merchandise etc).
9 UAE Branch Updates Data Protection Regulations Due to the introduction of the new Data Protection Regulations in the UK, the UAE Branch Committee who are considered agents of IIRSM, are currently NOT permitted to send s to Branch members directly. ALL Branch communications will therefore be originated directly from UK on our behalf. IIRSM members will shortly be requested to provide consent to receive correspondence from authorized agents of IIRSM
