3 1.1 Purpose 1. Introduction The SDS shows how the software system will be structured to satisfy the requirements identified in the SRS. It is a translation of requirements into a description of software structure, software components, interfaces and data necessary for the implementation phase. Thus, SDS is the blue print for the implementation activity. 1.2 Scope friendster.com is a web-based service which intends to connect students and staff of Banasthali. It will also help to connect external users to maintain their own pre-existing social networks. friendster.com will help a user to: Construct a public or semi-public profile within a bounded system. Articulate a list of other users with whom they share a connection. View and traverse their list of connections. The scope of the project can be listed as under: This site aims to provide a special functionality to Banasthali users like Banasthali map, notices and current affairs of Banasthali. Banasthali map will help the users to identify various departments, hostels and to get a look and feel of them. Administrator will be responsible to update overall database of the website. Teachers will be able to add or update different notices to inform the students about the activities going on. Users will be able to create different communities. Users will be able to send messages to their friends or to entire community to which they belong. Chat facility will be also provided. Four types of users will be using this website.user can be Student, Staff, Administrator and Visitor. All the users will have different access and rights granted by this website. 3

34 4.1 Description of the user interface Registration Module Description of Component 4 User Interface Design This module allows the new user to become the member of the site. Interface Description Inputs: - All user details Outputs: -The successful User register submission page. Processing Details Display the form containing fields of user details to be filled by user in order to get registered. Check whether the information submitted is proper or not and all fields are properly filled or not user id is unique or not Login Module Description of component In order to make the system safe from unauthorized access it is protected with user name and password, so that only valid and legitimate users can access the system. Interface Description Inputs: - User type, User ID and Password Outputs: - The Home page will open up. 34

35 Processing Details Display the form with user type, user name and password field. Mark all the fields as compulsory. Check whether the user name is valid or not, if yes check whether password matches or not. Open the main form after clicking Login button after validation checking Friend invitation Module Description of components To add any register user as friend we have to know the user id and that should not be in friend list. Interface Description Inputs: - User ID Outputs: - User Home page Processing Details Display the users Home page in which send friend request button is present. For sending friend request user should be registered and in processing, friend id is given to send friend request. Check whether friend request is already sent and till date he/she is not rejected and also check he/she is not in his/her friend list. After sending friend request user s home page is redirected. 35

36 4.1.4 NOTICES Description of components This module is used to view, add and delete notices according to user authorization. ADD NOTICES Description Admin and staff member can add the notices. Interface Description Input: - Notice topic, Notice detail, date of issue, date of expiry, concerned person and category. Output: - New notices Processing Details Admin and Staff members can click on add notices option to add any new notice. VIEW NOTICES Description Admin, staff member and student can view the notice. Interface Description Input: - Click the notice button Output: - View notices Processing Details Admin and Staff members can click on notice subject to view any existing notice. 36

Processing Details Admin and Staff members can click on notice subject to open the notice and then use delete option to delete any existing notice Update module Description of components This module is used to update the database by Admin. Interface Description Input: - Account details, event details. Output: - Update the database and display a message for updated successfully. Processing Details First admin enters the desired information which is to be modified And then submission of changes is done. 37

Interface Description Input: - Member detail Output: - Searched detail Processing detail First user fills member details, verification is done, if verified then results are displayed Profile Updation module Description of components This module is used to update the profile information of the user. Interface Description Input: - User can change any field information. Output: - Updated information. Processing detail User enters the required new information Verification is done on input data If it is invalid, an error message is displayed Otherwise users profile information is updated. 38

Processing Details VIEW s User can enter the text message to be sent in textbox and then click the send button to select the person to whom the message is to be sent, a message will appear that your message has been sent successfully. 49 5. Testing Issues Software testing can be stated as the process of validating ad verifying that a software program/ application/ product: 1. Meets the requirements that guided its design and development; 2. Works as expected; and 3. Can be implemented with the same characteristics. Testing is the process of making sure that the program performs the intended tasks. Unit Testing: Each component or part of the system is tested individually. Module Testing: A collection of dependent components such as an object class, procedures and functions are tested in this testing. Integration Testing: In this, many units tested modules are combined into sub systems, which are then tested. System Testing: Entire system software is tested. It is a testing of the system against its initial objectives.
