5 Environment Crane Electronics Ltd 1.1. Using Web Services Architecture If the database is installed on a single Desktop Computer, or a Laptop, the architecture would be this: If the database is installed on a Corporate SQL server then clients will NOT need SQL Server installed on local machine. The architecture would be as in the following sketch: Network The Network is represented by an arrow in the previous section. Depending on the customer requirements, the Network installation can vary. The Computers to Server connection can be a LAN (Ethernet cables) or a WLAN (Wi-Fi); The IQVu to single Computer connection can be a LAN (Ethernet cables) or a WLAN (Wi-Fi); The IQVu to Server connection can be a LAN (Ethernet cables via a USB adaptor) or a WLAN. In case of a LAN connection, you will be needing Ethernet cables, USB to Ethernet Adaptors and an Ethernet Switch (only if you use a Server architecture). 5

9 User Crane Electronics Ltd 2.1. Add a User Login in OMS. Click on the Setup Icon twice. Click on Users Icon. Click on the Add Icon to add a user. 9

10 Fill in the red fields. Barcode ID: Gives a quick single ID access (scan a barcode) when you log in, instead of using a username + password. User Group: After creating a User Group (See next section 2.2), you can Edit a user and allocate him to the group. Administrator: an admin cannot be in a user Group as he has all privileges. 10

11 2.2. Add a User Group Click on the Setup Icon twice. Click on User Groups Icon. Click on Add Icon. Input a name for the group. Click on the Green Bolt. Click on a Group name to see the permissions corresponding to it. The permission levels are: -No Access: the user cannot enter the functionality at all; -Read Only: the user can only View the Data but cannot Edit/Add/Delete them; -Perform Operation: the user can View and Add the Data but cannot Edit or Delete; -Full Access: the user can View/Add/Delete/Edit Data. 11

12 Exit/Minimise allowed for this group: if not ticked, the users from this group will not see the minimize icon on their OMS screen. Require non-administrators to enter Password for Certification and Calibrations: If ticked, the users of this group will need to enter a password for accessing Certification and Calibration. 12

13 Database Crane Electronics Ltd 3.1. Setup a Backup path Click the Setup Icon twice. Click on Database Functions Icon. Click on Set Path Icon and choose C:/Crane OMS/Backup Backup a database from SQL Server to your Backup path Login in OMS From OMS Click the Setup Icon twice. Click on Database Functions Icon. Click on Backup Database Icon. 13

15 From SQL Server Crane Electronics Ltd In case you cannot access OMS Application, note that there is a more direct way to backup or restore a Database. Go in SQL Server Management Studio. In Object Explorer, connect to an instance of the SQL Server Database Engine, and if not already, expand that instance. Expand Databases, right-click the database to backup, click Tasks, and then click Back Up... 15

16 Confirm the correct database is selected, and then click OK. 16

17 3.3. Restore a database from SQL Server on OMS Login in OMS. Click the Setup Icon twice. Click on Database Functions Icon. Click on Restore Database Icon. Scroll the List of Backups to find the Database to restore. Click on Green bolt. Click on Green bolt. Click on Green bolt. 17

18 3.4. Delete a database from SQL Server Users cannot remove a database from OMS and it is not recommended to do so. However, if you still need to delete a database you can proceed through SQL Server. Go in SQL Server Management Studio. In Object Explorer, connect to an instance of the SQL Server Database Engine, and if not already, expand that instance. Expand Databases, right-click the database to delete, and then click Delete. Confirm the correct database is selected, and then click OK. 18

19 3.5. Setup a database backup at a regular interval Make sure your backup path is correct (See section 2.1). Click on Settings icon 3 times. <<click 3 times On page 3, click on Misc settings icon. 19

20 Choose the number of hours you need for the Auto Backup Frequency (Hours) and click on the Green bolt. 20

21 Job To create a job, you need to add an Application first Create an application in OMS Click on Applications Icon. Click Add. Choose the Application settings and click on the Green bolt. 21

22 Choose Application Settings ID If you click on this button, all values in the Dynamic Torque section will replicate in the Static Torque section Create a job in OMS Click on Audit Tools on Applications Icon. Click Jobs. Click Add. 22

23 Samples: number of different jobs to perform on a part. E.g. 5 screws to fix on a car chair. Subgroups: number of times to perform this job on a given period. E.g. 7 chairs in a day. Application: e.g. a car. Name: e.g. car seat. Measurement Mode: to perform readings with a WrenchStar or CheckStar you can choose between peak, impulse mode. Click on the Green Bolt. The job is created. 23

24 4.3. Set up the connection type for a job (USB Connection ONLY) Click on Job Comms Icon. Scroll the Connection type and select the COM Port (See Appendix B). If you want to use a USB connection with the IQVU, the port used is DRIVER Download a job from OMS to IQVu With Web Services (LAN or WLAN) You need to Set up a connection between the IQVu and OMS via Web Services First. From the IQVu, click on Jobs Icon. Click on the Cloud Icon, and Download the job. 24

25 With USB Cable From the OMS device, click on Audit Tools On Applications Icon. Click on Jobs. Click on a given job row, then click on Job Comms. Set up the connection type for this job (see section 3.3. Set up the connection type ). And click on the Green bolt. In the new window, click on the Download Icon. In the new window, click on the given job name and click on the Add Icon. Click on the Green bolt. 25

26 4.5. Upload a job With Web Services (LAN or WLAN) Click the Jobs Icon, you will see this screen. Then tick the job you have just completed. 26

27 Press long on the job row. A menu will appear. Click on Upload With USB Cable On the OMS device, click on Audit Tools On Applications Icon. Click on Jobs. Click on a given job row, then click on Job Comms. Click on Upload. OMS should detect the IQVu device. 27

32 Web Service Crane Electronics Ltd 5.1. Delete a service In Windows search box, type IIS. Open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager in the list. In the left pane, unroll the hierarchy and right-click on the service name, select Delete. 32

33 Report Crane Electronics Ltd 6.1. Export Job Data to CSV Readings can be saved in a csv Document, between a Date range, on a specific path. You can choose to view all values in that Excel sheet, or only keep values that are between Lower and Higher specification limits. 33

34 6.2. View a report Generic reports exist by default in OMS. You can either view your data in that report format or use your personalized report format (To create a customized report, see next section) View readings in a generic Report 34

36 Filters before generating the report Some reports have one or more filters set up prior to executing the report script. Therefore, you can either filter by choosing the conditions and clicking the green bolt, or not apply the filter by clicking the red bolt Understand a Report: Correspondence of OMS Database with Report values This section explains how data appearing in OMS can be used in reports Data in OMS Click on Audit Tools on Applications Icon. Then click on Jobs Icon. And click on View Data. 36

37 Click on View Subgroup. Job name is New Joint And Data Set Number is 8, 8 In the report, we will see on X axis, the subgroups 1,2,3,4,5,6 and 7. And the mean/range or StDev of each subgroup in Y axis. 37

39 We select only: Job name is New Joint And Data Set Number is 8, 8 Click 3 time on the Green Bolt. A command prompt black screen will appear for a short moment. Then an Excel sheet will open containing the Report and the existing Data. 39

40 For job name New Joint and Data Set Number 8 : Subgroups 1,2,3,4,5,6, and 7 have respectively a sample mean of 2,3,1,4,4,2,5. 40

41 6.3. Create/Edit a customized report ## THIS SECTION IS FOR IT ONLY ## It contains technical IT notions (database administration, Excel macro, VBA Script) Click on Design Reports Icon. Existing reports can be Edited if you click on Design Reports Icon, or new customized reports can be created. 41

42 Auto-run report You can choose to run a Report when OMS is launched, after a Certification/Validation or at fixed intervals Edit Report In this section, the Copy Icon allows you to Edit a new copy of an existing Report. You can choose a name for the copy of the existing Report. The new Report will be saved in User Reports as it has become a customized report. 42

43 Add Filters After choosing a name for your report, you can select the fields from OMS that you will be using in your report. The first column corresponds to the database table name; The second column corresponds to the database column name; The third column refers to filter conditions. 43

44 Create New Customized Report Clicking the Add Icon allows you to create your personalized report from scratch if you understand VBA scripts and can design Excel reports using Macros. Or you can also contact Crane to Design a customized Report for you. 44

47 Appendix B: How to find port used Crane Electronics Ltd First run CP210xVCPInstaller_x86\x64.exe from path OMS 5.05\USB installation XP, 7, 8.1. Then open Device Manager and look for ports when usb is plugged. A new line should appear as a driver. 47
