Installing CHART To simplify the process, we have included the software with this guide.

1 Setting up CHART This procedure provides a step by step guide to installing and updating the Primis CHART tool which is used for the Diabetes Deep Dive project. Prerequisites 1. Local admin account for managing your practice computers, this is applicable for practices who are part of the Wandsworth PCT domain. The CCG have confirmed that each site has been provided a single local admin account. Please note this account is needed for both the installation and refresh procedures but not for the normal use of the CHART tool. 2. Registered Primis user, this is required to download and register the software and autorenew the licences each month. Anyone can register for a PRIMIS account using the link, 3. Access to a machine which will be used during the Deep Dive visit. It is advised to limit the number of machines to 1 or 2 as every time a refresh is run you will need to login with the local admin account and run the refresh procedure again. This would be time consuming and some machines may fall out of sync. Installing CHART To simplify the process, we have included the software with this guide. 1. If applicable, login to the machine you ve chosen for the visit using the local admin user account. 2. Login to the Primis portal, 3. Download CHART installation file, saving it to your Desktop or Shared folder (H or N drive). 4. Once downloaded, double click CHART_ msi to start the installer.

2 5. Click Next. 6. Click Install, please DO NOT change the installation folder.

3 7. Click Finish

4 Configure CHART The next few steps are only required to configure the application on first use. 1. Start CHART by clicking its icon on your Desktop. 2. If you get an alert at the top of the Excel screen as shown below, click Enable Content. 3. You may get an alert now asking for permission to VBA project object model. Click OK. 4. You will now be shown instructions on how to do step 3. Click OK to continue. 5. If you did NOT receive the prompt in step 3 above, proceed to step 12. We now need to enable the VBA object model, click the File menu at the top left in Excel.

5 6. Click Options at the bottom of the side menu.

6 7. Click Trust Center at the bottom of the left menu. 8. Click the Trust Center Settings button as shown above. 9. Click Macro Settings on the left menu and check the box Trust access to the VBA project object model

7 10. Click OK to return to the previous Excel Options screen and click OK again. This will return you to the CHART tool. 11. Close CHART and restart using the Desktop icon. If you are prompted to save the file choose Don t Save. 12. CHART will now detect that it is missing the practice details and will prompt you to complete. Click OK.

8 13. Fill in your Practice ID Code, this is your NHS ODS Code (usually H***** or Y******) and select EMIS Web for the GP System field. 14. Click OK to save the practice details. 15. Agree to the Data Protection Warning by clicking I AGREE. You will get this popup every time CHART is opened.

9 16. CHART will now warn you that there are no libraries installed. Click OK to proceed. 17. To register CHART and download the Diabetes library click the red Check for Updates button. 18. At this point you will need to enter your Primis credentials which you setup in step 2 of the prerequisite on page If your credentials were correct you will receive notification that CHART will connect to the web to confirm the installed libraries. Click OK.

10 20. A browser will open a page displaying the currently installed version of CHART and any installed libraries. Click the Download button to download the Diabetes library. 21. Once downloaded, we need to install the Diabetes library for CHART, double click DIAB_2.3.1_EMIS.msi to start the installer. 22. Click Next

11 23. Click Install 24. Click Finish 25. Click OK and CHART is ready for use.

12 Running and Exporting EMIS searches This procedure can be used for both the initial and updating of the CHART data. You will need to login using your local admin account as the export process requires accessing the C drive of the computer. The Federation has already imported the searches in to EMIS and can be found in FEDERATION -> > CHART Diabetes -> Diabetes Open Population Reporting and navigate to the folder shown above. 2. Select one of the folders in the left panel, click the Run button. 3. You should get a prompt asking to confirm running all the reports in the folder. Click Yes. 4. Once the searches have run, you will need to export the report data to CSV files. 5. Only the reports in the Diabetes Care Report (File for export) and Diabetes Case Finder (Files for export) are to be exported. 6. Please note that the exports MUST be saved to the CHART folder. C:\CHART\Responses\ 7. Open each folder and export each report in the right pane.

13 8. To export the data select a report and click the View Results button 9. Now click Export 10. When prompted for the export format choose CSV and click OK. 11. Now select the folder to export to. Again, this is important, you MUST save the files to the C:\CHART\Responses folder for CHART to find them. If you can t see this folder you will need to login using the Windows Admin account.

14 12. If this is an updating procedure you will already have data in the responses folder, so you will be prompted to overwrite the files. Click Yes to replace the files. 13. Open CHART again to see the new data. 14. Repeat this process whenever you need to refresh the CHART data.

15 Renewing licences On the first of every month the CHART libraries expire, this simply requires clicking a Check for Updates button to renew. This can be done by all users and is not necessary to login as local admin. 1. Start CHART by clicking its icon on your Desktop. 2. Accept any prompts. 3. Click the red Check for Updates button. 4. Two things happen at this point, first a web page opens showing the currently installed application and libraries which have been registered with Primis. You can ignore and close the webpage. The second is that the CHART tool will display the licences which have been renewed for your practice and when they will next expire. Please note this lists all the free libraries have been licenced however this procedure only refers to the Diabetes library.
