2 Colors Text should stand out from the background, but not contrast too highly. Colors should fit together in a recognizable pattern, like hues of blue or Spring colors. Light text on a dark background will lose the thickness of its lines. Here are some samples:

4 Backgrounds You should have a background, aren t these white backgrounds boring? Backgrounds should fit the purpose of your presentation. Backgrounds should not distract from the material of your presentation. You can make your own backgrounds too.

5 Cool colors make people feel down or sometimes calm. Use light colors to create your text.

6 Warm colors can make a presentation more cheerful.

7 Avoid backgrounds that are visually distracting.

8 HELP!!!! Make sure your background is comfortable to look at.

10 Pictures can serve as bold backgrounds. Be careful of overpowering the text.

11 The Right Image can really set off your text, especially if you adjust its brightness.

12 Text Don t get carried away with different types of text. Text should represent your subject. Text can be used to focus your audience s attention! Switching text colors too often can be confusing to the audience.

13 Fonts Serif fonts have little parts that hang off the letters, this appears more formal, or professional. Sans Serif fonts miss these little parts and appear more modern and informal. Some fonts are for fun. Some fonts are only for special purposes, like sci-fi.

14 Text Bullets Bullets can be designed to appear automatically, and even animate in different ways. See this? They can appear and disappear. Try the Custom Animation menu.

15 Text Organization (Title) Bullets let you highlight each idea under the Title. If you have a second idea to express, use another bullet!

16 Transitions Consider how each transition can be chosen to convey a different attitude to your presentation. Transitions to new slides can also be automated. This presentation is automated. Here are some different considerations.

17 Transitions can be fast for impact, you can also include sounds.

18 Transitions can be slow to allow a background to slowly appear.

19 Try several shapes of transition to see how they make your slide appear.

20 Insert Objects People get tired of reading text, give them something exciting to see or consider! Make sure your objects are appropriate to your presentation, beach balls don t belong in the Texas Revolution. Consider whether you should use a picture, clip art, graph or shape.

21 Pictures If the picture is not free use, credit the original artist. These can be gathered from the internet to use in your presentation. You can take your own digital pictures and insert them into your PowerPoint. If you use a picture, be careful of enlarging it, it may become poorly defined (pixelated).

22 Sadness Destruction. Make sure to label your pictures, otherwise the audience may not understand why you included them.

24 Clipart Clipart allows you to illustrate your presentation. It can downloaded from Microsoft and saved in packets or in PowerPoint. You can find the Microsoft clipart page at px?lc=en-us Select the images you want to use, then download them to your computer.

26 Last Ideas! Preview your slideshow often. Save your slideshow often to your disk. Try to keep the size of your save file small, multiple groups are using the same disk. Use the same disk and computer everyday.
