Originally developed as a simplified face, its design recalls the inscriptional and decorative tile work lettering of the medieval period. The strong treatment of the tails of certain characters departs from the more traditional style of tapering these finials, introducing a modern feel to the design. The contrasting proportions of the tall vertical strokes and the rather elongated counters lend a monumental look to, allowing its effective use in titling. During the later 1980s was developed into a traditional typeface, with the introduction of medial forms to improve character spacing and balance. Recently, has been converted into the OpenType font format, ensuring its continued popularity as a heading face for newspaper typesetting. The typeface contains two weights, and Outline. Both of the OpenType fonts include Latin glyphs from Clearface Gothic Roman inside the font files, allowing a single font to set text in both most Western European and Arabic languages The two OpenType fonts include the Basic Latin character set (Western CP 1252 Latin 1/ANSI and Macintosh US Roman) and the Arabic character set (CP 1256), which supports Arabic, Persian, and Urdu. 7 presented in: New Century Schoolbook Bold Italic FONT LOUNGE > > ARABIC FONTS IN THE LINOTYPE LIBRARY Arabic Fonts in the Linotype Library (Ismet Chanbour, 1985) is a traditional-style Arabic display typeface. Two is an outline version of One. Although their design is ultra bold, its forms remain a readable Naskh, in response to the needs of secular lettering for emphatic headlines and signs. One and Two are characterized by a distinctive, strong baseline-stroke, reminiscent of a similar handrendered technique traditionally used in Arabic calligraphy to achieve a bold appearance. Initially developed as digital fonts by Linotype-Hell Ltd. in the mid-1980s, One and Two have remained amongst the most popular heading faces used in Arabic magazine and newspaper publication. In 2005 these typefaces became available in the OpenType format. Both of the OpenType fonts include Latin glyphs from Syntax Ultra Black inside the font files, allowing a single font to set text in both most Western European and Arabic languages The two OpenType fonts incorporate the Basic Latin character set (Western CP 1252 Latin 1/ANSI and Macintosh US Roman) and the Arabic character set (CP 1256), which supports Arabic, Persian, and Urdu. 11 presented in: Fairfield 55 Caption Medium FONT LOUNGE > > ARABIC FONTS IN THE LINOTYPE LIBRARY Arabic Fonts in the Linotype Library ( Sobhi Mourad, 1996, 2005) is a traditional-style Arabic text face designed by Mr. Sobhi Mourad, an experienced calligrapher and teacher of the art. First produced by the Linotype Design Studio (U.K.) as a PostScript font in 1993, the family is now available in OpenType format. An individual Naskh style, cleverly combines elegant proportions echoing an inscriptional Thuluth in its tall vertical stems and deeply rounded final jim and ain. The effect of verticality is enhanced by the tense, reined-in kerning strokes of ra and waw, the well-poised lam-alif, and the compactly drawn ligatures. The broad-band strokes of Bold smooth some of the angularity and relax the tension apparent in the Light. The traditional-style ligatures are rendered with an easy flow. Because of the economical character count, Light and Bold text may be headed by the compact titling styles in the range (, ) as well as designs like or which answer to the inscriptional qualities of. In addition to other uses, would be particularly suited to document text-setting s two OpenType weights include Latin glyphs from Janson Text Roman, and Janson Text Bold, respectively, inside the font files, allowing a single font to set text in both most Western European and Arabic languages. 15 presented in: Shelley Script Andante FONT LOUNGE > > ARABIC FONTS IN THE LINOTYPE LIBRARY Arabic Fonts in the Linotype Library (Tim Holloway, 1994) is a traditional-style Arabic text face, designed in response to a demand for a traditional text face adapted to setting Quranic commentaries. Within the constraints of the standard character set and typesetting program, s design aims to recall the style and fluency of manuscript Naskh without, however, reproducing the idiosyncrasies of any particular calligrapher.the line weight chosen is heavier than usual for a traditional light face in order to benefit the reproduction of small size Tafsir text. A tall kaf, deep descenders and slightly inclined alifs and lams all help to suggest the cursiveness of manuscript. The type-style that emerges is characterized by restraint and clarity: qualities suited to s original purpose, and ones that recommend it for wider use ships in the OpenType format, and includes Latin glyphs from Janson Text Roman, allowing the single font to set text in both most Western European and Arabic languages. s code pages incorporate Basic Latin (Western CP 1252 Latin 1/ANSI and Macintosh US Roman) and the Arabic character set (CP 1256), which supports Arabic, Persian, and Urdu. 18 presented in: Linotype Ego FONT LOUNGE > > ARABIC FONTS IN THE LINOTYPE LIBRARY Arabic Fonts in the Linotype Library (Linotype Design Studio, 1978) is a traditional-style Arabic text face derived from foundry types cut earlier in the 20th Century, based on the calligraphic models in the Ottoman Naskh style (the traditional style of Arabic script for use in printing). Its graceful finials and elegant logotypes contribute to the classic look of the face making it particularly suitable for serious book and journal work. The conversion of the PostScript versions of these fonts to OpenType format has taken full advantage of the latest digital technology, allowing accurate positioning of diacriticals and kerning refinements. The typeface is available in two weights: Light and Bold. These two fonts incorporate the Arabic codepage (CP 1256), and support Arabic and Persian. They also include both tabular Arabic and Persian numerals.

20 presented in: Icone Extra Black Italic FONT LOUNGE > > ARABIC FONTS IN THE LINOTYPE LIBRARY Arabic Fonts in the Linotype Library (1991, 2005 ), a traditional-style Arabic text face, enjoyed widespread popularity as a dry-transfer typeface prior to being licensed by Letera Arabica to Linotype-Hell for font production. In consultation with the Linotype Design Studio (U.K.), the artwork was redrawn by Adrian Williams to render the typeface into a complete, unitized Arabic font with a full complement of traditional-style ligatures suitable for digitization., which has two weights, first appeared as a 202 font in 1987 before its eventual conversion to OpenType in Thus Linotype s font can be described as a trend-setting modern Naskh design that retains a sense of the fluidity of Naskh calligraphy: the letters, when composed, appear as freshly-written text characterized by rich, inky horizontals, tapering swash strokes and contrasting delicate ascenders. The Bold exploits these features of the Regular without excess, tempered by the need for clarity at smaller sizes. Regular and Bold are eminently suited to text and titling in broader column work (brochures, magazines, advertising, coffee-table books etc.,) and are thus able to extend the range of the Linotype Arabic library in areas of work where the more compact text and titling fonts would create a too concentrated effect Both of the fonts ship in the OpenType format, and include Latin glyphs (from Palatino Medium and Palatino Black) inside the font files, allowing a single font to set text in both most Western European and Arabic languages. s OpenType code pages incorporate the Basic Latin character set (Western CP 1252 Latin 1/ANSI and Macintosh US Roman) and the Arabic character set (CP 1256), which supports Arabic, Persian, and Urdu. 25 presented in: Linotype Syntax Lapidar Text Medium FONT LOUNGE > > ARABIC FONTS IN THE LINOTYPE LIBRARY Arabic Fonts in the Linotype Library (Moufid Ali Mehdi, 1976 ) is a distinctive, bold Arabic display face, suitable for heading and titling work in Arabic newspaper and magazine composition. In this typeface the rounded internal counters and dots contrast with the angular and more robust outlines of the letterforms to give a decorative, harlequin-like appearance. The design was originally developed for use in drytransfer format, and was first produced as a digital font by Linotype-Hell Ltd. in the early 1980s. Initially a simplified face, with its inherent limited range of letterforms, was enhanced during the late 1980s by the introduction of medial letterforms to improve character spacing and balance. The recent advent of OpenType has led to the release of Mofid Mahdi. This OpenType font includes Latin glyphs from Memphis Extra Bold, allowing users to set text in both most Western European and Arabic languages without switching between fonts. incorporates the Basic Latin character set (Western CP 1252 Latin 1/ANSI and Macintosh US Roman) and the Arabic character set (CP 1256), which supports Arabic, Persian, and Urdu. The counters and inter-character proportions of are characteristic of Persian display lettering and typography. This is particularly true of bold, which gives a strong image when used for display purposes. possesses fuller, deeper characters than is normally exhibited in Arabic typography: its angled counters contributing to fluid, well-balanced, yet vibrant, letterforms. 30 presented in: Linotype Syntax Regular FONT LOUNGE > > ARABIC FONTS IN THE LINOTYPE LIBRARY Arabic Fonts in the Linotype Library (Linotype Design Studio, 1956) is an Arabic text face that was developed by Linotype & Machinery in 1956 for hot-metal typesetting. Similar to the typewriter fonts created during this period, it utilises a limited range of letterforms to represent a full Arabic characer set, thus forming a style of type design known as Simplified Arabic. The skilful reshaping of letterforms demanded by the constraints of the original restrictive technology has given a very dynamic effect, and has helped to produce a design whose overall pattern works particularly well in newspaper setting. Digital technology has enhanced the original design by permitting the introduction of wide characters and some additional letterforms, and by improving the joining of the strong, slightly curved baseline. is available in two OpenType weights: Light and Bold. Both of the fonts include Latin glyphs (from Times Europa Roman and Times Europa Bold, respectively) inside the font files, allowing a single font to set text in both most Western European and Arabic languages. incorporate the Basic Latin character set (Western CP 1252 Latin 1/ANSI and Macintosh US Roman) and support all languages that use the Arabic script.
