Instructions for Publishing Student Thesis in DiVA Updated

Transcription
1 As a student you register your student thesis by filling out a form with information about the thesis and uploading a file with the thesis to DiVA. The thesis should be in one file and in PDF format (if it is a text file). When you have registered your thesis in DiVA, someone at your department administers the electonic publishing, i.e. approves and publishes your thesis. When that is done you can find your thesis on the web. Here you can find student theses on the web: Uppsök Swedish student theses in full text (only in Swedish) - Swedish student theses in full text (only in Swedish) Swedish student theses in English in full text DiVA Umeå - portal.org If you have any questions, please ask your supervisor or contact diva@ub.umu.se.
2 1. Log in to DiVA with your CAS username (the name in your student e- mail address) at portal.org/dream/login.jsf. For more information about CAS, please contact ICT Services and System Development (ITS) 2. Click on Continue.
3 3. Enter the following information in the form: Help texts explaining each field are shown if you hover over the question mark?. Fields marked with a red asterisk (*) are mandatory. If there are several authors, click on Another author and fill in all details. Select the organizational affiliation, i.e. the name of the department where you have written your thesis. Click on Choose organization and search for its name or browse. Click on the name of the department and the chosen affiliation is shown in the box just below. Note the title and the language of your thesis. If the thesis is made in collaboration with an external partner, e.g. a company or an organization, tick the box External cooperation and enter the name of the company/organization in the box that appears. External cooperation is defined as works that are done In collaboration with an external party outside of academia and where a resource person must be available.
4 If you are not sure about the level and number of credits of your thesis, please contact your supervisor. Educational program and subject/course are not mandatory fields. Note the year of the course and the last numbered page. Choose subject category by clicking on the button and search or browse for subjects. Delete a chosen category by clicking x. To ensure that your paper will be possible to find in Essays.se and Uppsök you must select a general subject category here. Note keywords to help others find your thesis.
5 Type or paste an abstract/summary and specify the language of the abstract. Fill in the name and department of your supervisor and examiner. Contact your department if you have any questions. When you are done, click on Continue.
6 4. Here you upload your file in PDF format. The pdf- file should contain a title page with information about author, title, the level of the thesis and that it is written at Umeå University. Select fulltext and pdf. Name the file and upload it by clicking on Browse and selecting your paper. The file must be in PDF format. Read the conditions for electronic publishing and tick your acceptance. Then click on Continue.
7 Check that all details are filled in correctly. If you want to change something, use the link Edit information or click on Back to return to the form and make the necessary changes. When you are satisfied, click on Submit. Your thesis is now submitted to DiVA. Note that your thesis will be checked by an administrator at your department and published after approval. For this reason, you will not be able to see your thesis immediately after you have registered it. Please notify the DiVA administrator at your department that you have registered your paper.
