1 ABBI - FAQ Frequently asked questions What does "ABBI" mean? ABBI stands for "Advanced Body Builder Interface". What does ABBI do? The program helps to coordinate order management between MAN and body builders efficiently. To do this, ABBI collects information from various sources at MAN and the body builders and puts it all together in the form of an online database for joint use by both partners. Quality acceptance by MAN is processed exclusively via ABBI. ABBI enables body builders to present their own products and services for MAN Sales and MAN Purchasing. Who can use ABBI? ABBI can be accessed globally via the Internet. Access is password-protected. Users first have to register. Companies active as body builders/fitters, converters or trailer manufacturers can register their company profiles and responsible members of staff in ABBI. MAN employees can register themselves in ABBI so that they can use the portal for coordinating order processing and for quality assurance. The prerequisite for registration is an MAN user ID. What is ABBI's Web address? What does ABBI cost? No charge is made for using ABBI. ABBI is a service for body builders. It was developed so that cooperation between MAN and the body builders would guarantee a high standard of quality and delivery reliability for our customers. MAN and the body builders benefit to an equal extent from this. 1

3 What advantages does ABBI offer MAN employees in Sales and in Order Processing? 1. MAN employees receive information on how the production of bodies is progressing and on the approval of the bodies by MAN Quality Assurance. 2. MAN employees (in Sales and Purchasing) receive information on the products and services offered by the body builders. They are able to search for companies, people and products. What does "OSD list" mean and what is it? OSD stands for "Order Specific Data". The OSD list is ABBI's central module. This is where MAN provides the data on the technical scope of supply and MAN production scheduling. Body builders supplement their data on production throughput for bodies. What does "AFK" mean? In the OSD list, the "Progress of body" field shows you how far the production of the body has progressed, using a symbol with the code "AFK". (This applies to twoinvoice transactions.) One after the other, the fields with the letters A, F and K are given green backgrounds, corresponding to progress in production. All fields are white = Order accepted A is green = Chassis is at the body builder's premises F is green = The body is ready K is green = The vehicle has been delivered 3

4 What does "AQK" mean? In the case of single-invoice transactions (with quality acceptance by MAN), progress in the production of the body is represented by a symbol with the code "AQK". One after the other, the fields with the letters A, Q and K are given blue backgrounds, corresponding to progress in production. All fields are white = Order accepted A is blue = Chassis is at the body builder's premises Q is blue = Body is ready for quality acceptance by MAN K is blue = The vehicle has been delivered What does "NO Q" mean? NO Q = The vehicle was delivered without the approval of MAN Quality Management. What do "FK" and "QK" mean? If it isn't a body that's being produced but a trailer, then of course delivery of a body to the body builder's premises does not apply. In these orders there's no need for the code "A" and so progress in production is represented by just "FK" and "QK" (instead of "AFK" and "AQK" respectively). What do the terms in the "Q progress" field mean? - Empty = There is no quality acceptance audit of the body by MAN (two-invoice transaction) - Open = The body builder has not yet registered the body for the quality audit - Open/date! = The body will be ready within the next five days (see: End of production) but no date has yet been set for the quality acceptance audit - Notification Q = The body builder has proposed a date for the quality acceptance audit - Date Q = MAN has confirmed a date for the quality acceptance audit - Reworking = MAN has not approved the vehicle for delivery - Reworking (bold) = the vehicle has not been approved. A reworking report is required - Reworking complete = The body builder has carried out the reworking requested by MAN - Approval = MAN has approved the vehicle for delivery What do the terms "single-invoice transaction" and "two-invoice transaction" mean? A single-invoice transaction is an order in which MAN is the General Contractor for the entire vehicle (the chassis as well as the body). In this case, MAN acts the ordering party for the body and is responsible for the quality of the vehicle as a whole. 4

5 For this reason, all these orders must pass though the quality acceptance process (see above: AQK). Such transactions must be documented in ABBI: this is laid down in the MAN order and is mandatory. A two-invoice transaction is an order in which MAN and the body builder each have their own order from a customer. In this case, MAN does not carry out quality acceptance. Which orders can the body builder see in ABBI? Two-invoice transactions: MAN stores the first delivery address for the chassis in the AVIS order system. If the body builder is stored as the first delivery address, ABBI will automatically display the order to that body builder. If the body builder is NOT the first delivery address (because, for example, the chassis is delivered to another body builder, to the MAN Truck Center or to the customer), that body builder will not see the order. Single-invoice transactions: Whenever MAN is the General Contractor for the chassis as well as the body, the chassis is assigned to a particular body builder in the course of MAN's order for the body. ABBI will automatically display the order to that body builder. How does the body builder make orders visible in ABBI? Orders in two-invoice transactions are not displayed automatically in ABBI (see above). The body builder can make these orders visible by entering the MAN order number and the abbreviated chassis number in a search field. (Main menu/osd/find order) How can I see whether other body builders are also working on a chassis? In the All participating body builders" field you will see a list of all the body builders working on the respective chassis. Note: The planned delivery date applies only to the first delivery address. In other words, it applies only to that body builder to whom the chassis is first delivered after it has been produced. What is the "planned delivery date"? The planned delivery date is the date of delivery to the first delivery address (delivery to the Region, the time needed for transport has already been allowed for). As a rule, the first delivery address is the address of the body builder. 5

6 If a body builder is NOT the first delivery address then the planned delivery date does not apply to that body builder. In the "Accumulated changes" field you can see who is working on the chassis ahead of you and can coordinate the delivery date. Why is the "Start of production" date shown in blue or red? Red means: date is prior to the planned delivery date. (This should only be taken as informative, but can be useful, for example in the production of box bodies.) Blue means: date is more than 14 days after the planned delivery date. (This is to be taken as informative and an aid in optimising throughput time.) Can the body builder store completed orders? Sixty days after completion of an order ("AFK" or "AQK" completely green or blue), it will be removed from the body builder's view. However, on request orders can be stored permanently in an archive. (Mark the completed orders and then go to the Action menu: "Archive".) 6
