2 Submitting an Application - CSC Online Application Process 2 This document provides a step-by-step guide to submitting an application to undertake a research degree at the University of Newcastle. This has been developed specifically to assist prospective CSC applicants. It is suggested that the workflow below be followed within the online application system: 1. 3 Access the Online Direct Admission System - CSC Online Application Process 3 Step 1 The online application system is accessible via the University of Newcastle webpage at: As per the image below, please refer to Step 4 Apply Now and select the register and apply online option.

4 Register Your Details - CSC Online Application Process 4 Step 2 The screen below will appear once you have accessed the online application system via the link or webpage provided on page 2 of this document. All questions with a red asterisk (*) require a response. Please provide an answer to these questions.

5 Submitting an Application - CSC Online Application Process 5 Step 3 After registering your details you will be sent an notification providing your username and password. Also provided within the is a link to the online application system. Please select this link to be directed to the webpage in order to commence your application.

6 Applicant Login - CSC Online Application Process 6 Step 4 By selecting the link referred to on the previous page of this document, you will be directed to the login screen within the online application system. Please login by entering the username and password that was sent to you in the notification.

7 Commencing the Application Process - CSC Online Application Process 7 Step 5 Once you are logged into the system you will be ready to commence the application process. As a result of logging on, an application will have already been created for you. You are encouraged to continue this application, as per the image below. A new application does not need to be created. Also provided on this page is your application reference number which is highlighted below.

8 Confirm Your Details - CSC Online Application Process 8 Step 6 When you continue the application as per the previous page, you will first be asked to confirm your applicant details. This information will be pre-filled based on the information you provided when registering your applicant details as per step 2 of this document. Once you have confirmed all details are correct, please select save and proceed to next page.

9 Study Details - CSC Online Application Process 9 Step 7 This page asks you to specify the type of study you will be undertaking at the University of Newcastle. For CSC applicants, the answers are as follows: Type of Study = International student at a campus located in Australia Study Level =

10 Program Selection Preference - CSC Online Application Process 10 Step 8 On this page you are asked to identify which specific program you are applying for. All questions with a red asterisk (*) require a response. Please provide an answer to these questions. Once you have identified the program of study, campus, research degree start date and intended start date, please select add to list. This button is highlighted red in the image below which will add the program to your application. You will then be required to select save and proceed to next page.

11 Qualification Details - CSC Online Application Process 11 Step 09 Please provide details of all your previous and/or current qualifications on this page. You will be required to select search for the institution name and follow the advice provided on the re-directed webpage. As per the advice provided on the previous page of this document, you are required to select add to list for the qualification to be added to your application. If you have an additional qualification, such as a Master Degree, the process should be repeated and then completed by selecting add to list. This button is highlighted red in the image below. Note: Please upload documentation, such as academic transcripts and certificates, associated with the qualifications you have entered.

12 Language Details - CSC Online Process 12 Step 10 Please provide details of your English proficiency. Note: Please upload documentation, such as IELTS or TOEFL results, associated with your English proficiency.

13 Employment History - CSC Online Process 13 Step 11 Please provide details of your employment history on this page. As per the advice provided on previous pages of this document, you are required to select add to list for the employment to be added to your application. If you have additional experience in separate roles, the process should be repeated and completed by selecting add to list. This button is highlighted red in the image below. Note: Please upload documentation, if applicable, associated with the employment history you have entered.

14 Research Scholarships - CSC Online Process 14 Step 12 You will be required to enter specific information on this page related to CSC. As per the image below, please select CSC as the scholarship you are applying for. This is highlighted red for reference.

15 Research Experience - CSC Online Process 15 Step 13 This page asks you to provide information related to any research experience you may have. This most commonly refers to research publications. As per the advice provided on previous pages of this document, you are required to select add to list for the publication to be added to your application. If you have additional publications the process should be repeated and completed by selecting add to list. This button is highlighted red in the image below. Note: Please upload documentation, such as research publications, associated with the experience details you have provided.

16 Referees - CSC Online Process 16 Step 14 Please provide contact details for up to two referees. As per the advice provided on previous pages of this document, you are required to select add to list for the referee contact details to be added to your application. If you are including two referees, the process should be repeated and completed by selecting add to list. This button is highlighted red in the image below. Referee reports are able to be uploaded if you wish, however this is not a mandatory requirement. As such, there are no standard University of Newcastle referee reports to complete.

17 Other Information - CSC Online Process 17 Step 15 Please refer to the questions on this page and provide information for those that are relevant to you. For example, if you have applied without the assistance of an agent recruiter, please leave this section unanswered.

18 Supporting Documentation - CSC Online Process 18 Step 16 Important information is required on this page. First, please provide the name of the academic you have discussed your proposed research with. Second, please enter "CSC 2019" as the pre-identified candidate code. Third, please upload your research proposal. This page also provides the opportunity to upload any additional documents to support your application.

19 Checklist - CSC Online Process 19 Step 17 Review your application and ensure all requirements have been met. It is preferred that all supporting documentation is uploaded within the online application system prior to submitting your application.

20 Summary and Submit - CSC Online Process 20 Step 18 You are required view the Terms and Conditions of the University of Newcastle and review the application summary before formally submitting your application.

21 Summary and Submit - CSC Online Process 21 Step 19 The process is complete. You will be re-directed to a webpage that confirms your application has been submitted.

22 Confirmation - CSC Online Process 22 Step 20 You will receive a confirmation to your nominated address that will also include your application reference number highlighted red below. Kindly quote this reference number in any correspondence with UON Graduate Research regarding your application via phone or

23 17 CONGRATULATIONS you ve successfully applied for admission and for scholarship consideration at UON. Remember that you will need to apply to the China Scholarship Council using the UON offer of admission and scholarship and meet all their conditions prior to their deadline, April 5, Your application will now be assessed.
