GINA DONLEVIE KATHLEEN DUSEBOUT SCOTT THOMPSON THOMAS THORP August 21, 2017 Dear Ridge High School Students, Parents, and Guardians, Pursuant to Mr. Markarian's letter of August 11, 2017, the district is moving to Aspen as its student information system effective August 28, Students and parents should access student schedules through the Aspen Student Portal by following the directions below. The Student Portal will not be available until August 28, To access the Student Portal on/after August 28: Website: Log in: Google login (Full name up to 21 characters) - all one word, no spaces (i.e. - johnsmith for John Smith). Password: student s ID number (same number they use to pay for lunch). Current students who do not know their ID number should contact the counseling department. New-to-district students will receive a separate later this week with their ID number. When students log in to the Aspen Student Portal for the first time they must initiate their account. In order to do so, students will need to acknowledge their receipt of and obligation to follow three documents: 1. The Acceptable Use of District Technology Policy; 2. The Student/Parent Handbook; and 3. The Student Code of Conduct. After students have completed these acknowledgements to initiate their account, they should log out of the Aspen system, as the system will then take approximately one hour to refresh/update before full viewing rights of schedules/student data become available. After the approximated refresh/update time, students will need to log in a second time to view their schedules. In order to first initiate their account and then to view their schedules after the refresh, students should refer to and follow the companion documents attached with this correspondence, which provide screenshots of the Aspen system with step-by-step instructions to complete these tasks and to ultimately gain full access to student schedules.

2 To recap the process described above in order to obtain student schedules: Log in to the Aspen system. Acknowledge the three documents listed above by following the step-by-step instructions on the companion documents, which have screenshots of the Aspen system for easy reference. Log out of Aspen to allow the refresh/update to occur. After the refresh/update period (approx. one hour), log in to Aspen again. Access student schedules by following the step-by-step instructions on the companion documents, which again have screenshots of the Aspen system for easy reference. If, after following these instructions, you have trouble accessing the system, please give the system an additional 30 minutes of time to initiate. If you are still experiencing difficulties accessing ASPEN, please contact the main office at Please also note that the Aspen Parent Portal will not be operational until on or about October 1, Thank you for your patience as we roll out this new, more robust and more user-friendly system. 3 Initiating Your Aspen Student Portal Account Please use the instructions below to access the Aspen Student Portal for the first time and to initiate your full Aspen account access. Open your browser to connect to the Internet. Go to Enter your Username (Google Login) and Password (student ID). Your Home page will then appear. You will have a limited view in Aspen until you initiate full account activation. To do so, navigate to the TASKS pane at the bottom right of your home page and click on INITIATE. A window will then open for you to begin step 1 of the process. Ensure that Student Acceptance Usage Policy and Annual Forms is selected in the Workflow field. Smith, Suzie Click on the magnifying glass in the Student field to bring up a new window to select your name and click OK. Click Next in the original window.

4 You will then be brought to step 2 of the process. There are links to access the Acceptable Use Policy, Student/Parent Handbooks, and Code of Student Conduct on the district website. To accept that you have been given electronic access to the documents, you will click the box provided and click NEXT. You will then be brought to a confirmation page. Click FINISH to complete your account initiation. Smith, Suzie The window will close and you will be brought back to your home page on the portal. (If you click FINISH without checking the box on the previous page, you will receive an error.) You should receive an shortly after to confirm your submission. Click LOG OFF in the upper right corner of your home page. You will not have full access to the Aspen portal until your account activation has been completed and you have received a SECOND confirmation. This process can take up to an hour. After you receive your second confirmation , you can log back into Aspen to enjoy the additional features.

5 Schedule Access On The Aspen Student Portal After you have received your confirmation stating that your Aspen account has been fully activated, please use the instructions below to access your schedule in the Aspen Student Portal for the first time. Open your browser to connect to the Internet. Go to Enter your Username (Google Login) and Password (student ID). Your Home page will then appear. Click on the MY INFO. Click on CURRENT SCHEDULE. By default, the schedule will open in a matrix view. To change to the view, click on <<LIST VIEW. To switch back, click on MATRIX VIEW>>.
