4 Introduction Mail Processor 4.4 provides a number of problem fixes. These Release Notes describe the deployment and setup for Mail Processor 4.4 (MP 4.4). This document details the process of upgrading from MP 4.1 to MP 4.4. Hardware and Software Requirements Hardware and software requirements vary depending on your deployment. See the Hardware and Software Configuration Guide for the specifications for your particular environment. MP 4.4 has been qualified for use on Sostenuto and above, in order to correct two issues with the REST API on which some functionality of the MP depends. See the Sostenuto Release Notes for further information. Earlier versions of Mail Processor supported Java 6 whereas MP 4.4 supports Java 7 only. You must upgrade to JDK Update 51 before attempting the upgrade to MP 4.4. See Upgrading to JDK Update 51 on page 5. Limitations and Caveats The Sunrise HTML5 interface only processes records from registered users. If you are running MP with Sostenuto 4.5 or a later release, please ensure that the Sostenuto Account used for logging into the MP has logged into the Sunrise HTML5 Interface at least once. This will ensure that, when the MP processes an with an attachment, the Sunrise HTML5 interface can open the new Incident record. The following REST API issues were fixed in Sostenuto 4.1.4: PRB002439: REST API fails to add record if message body is too long. PRB002461: REST API cannot add attachments with apostrophes in their filenames. They are supported in Sostenuto 4.6 and above, but not in Sostenuto 4.5. Page 4 of 8

5 1. Upgrade Procedure Obtaining the installation media Using the URL provided, download the Mail Processor folder from the website and save it locally. T: +44 (0) E: 1 Using the URL provided by the Service Desk, download the zipped Mail Processor 4.4 file from the website. 2 Extract the Mail Processor 4.4 files to the machine where Mail Processor is installed. Backing up Files and Folders The upgrade procedure does not affect the configuration of mail boxes or operations that you have set up; however, you will need to back up the interface.properties file so that you can reference it to restore your Database and REST connections after upgrade. This file can be found in the <Mail Processor installation root>\config directory. For example, C:\Program Files (x86)\sostenuto Mail Processor\config. Upgrading to JDK Update 51 If your installation uses an earlier Java version than JDK Update 51, you must upgrade your Java version before upgrading to MP 4.4. Open the Installation > Java folder in the Mail Processor 4.4 download. 1 In the Java folder, locate the appropriate JDK for your server: For a 32-bit server, this is x86 > jdk[update number]-windows-i586.exe. For a 64-bit server, this is x64 > jdk[update number]-windows-x64.exe. 2 Double-click on this executable to begin the installation. If a User Account Control screen is displayed, click Yes to proceed, then follow the instructions to upgrade the JDK. The configuration changes will take effect when you restart your machine. Upgrading Mail Processor 4.4 Follow these steps to upgrade SMP 4.2 to MP Back up the Mail Processor folder. 2 Ensure that the Mail Processor Service is stopped. 3 From the downloaded installation media, open the Mail Processor > Upgrade folder and copy its contents into the <Mail Processor installation root> folder. 6 4 When the following prompt appears, check the Do this box at the bottom of the screen and click on the Copy and Replace option. 5 Open the setenv.bat file and update the JDK version to Update 51 as shown: Save the file. 6 To update the registry, open the registry editor using regedit command either from the Start menu or a command prompt. Then navigate to: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET\SERVICES\Sostenuto Mail Processor\Parameters 7 In Parameters, update the Java path to show the new Java version by replacing java6 with jdk1.7.0_51 as shown in the example below: c:\progra~1\java\jdk1.7.0_51\bin\java.exe -DinstallPath=C:\PROGRA~2\SOSTEN~1 -jar C:\PROGRA~2\SOSTEN~1\lib\smp-runtime.jar This completes the upgrade. 8 Once the upgrade is complete, you must re-enter the database connection and REST API connection details in the interfaces.properties file when accessing the MP configuration for the first time. Please refer to the backed-up interface.properties file for your previous settings. 9 Restart your machine. Page 6 of 8

7 Corrections This section details the corrections that have been included in this release. Issue No.: PRB Attaching a file with the same name as an existing file through Mail Processor fails to upload. When adding an attachment through Mail Processor, if an attachment with the same file name already exists on the record, the new file SHOULD BE renamed and uploaded to the record, allowing certain version control. Issue No.: PRB format is lost when displayed in Sostenuto. When s are logged by SMP4, the format is lost when the record is logged in Sostenuto. This was corrected in Release 4.2. Further scenarios have now been identified and corrected. Issue No.: PRB Sometimes SMP4 only adds the subject and doesn't populate the body. The SMP4 occasionally skips adding the body of the mail to the mapped field in Sostenuto - this is intermittent and it may log the next record as expected. The issue seems to be arise when the has attachments. It may also happen in reply s that are set up to add a note to existing incidents. This was corrected in Release 4.2. Further scenarios have now been identified and corrected. Issue No.: PRB Mail Processor will not read from IMAP Subfolders. When configuring an IMAP connection in Mail Processor, you can select a folder to scan. It is only able to pick up s from the Inbox. When another folder is chosen, no s are found. Page 7 of 8

8 2. Issue No.: PRB Unicode 7 and 0x1, or non-standard encoded s processing fails. If an has been encoded with UTF 7 or 0x1 (for example a postmaster delivery failure message from exchange), the Mail Processor cannot process it. Also, it will not skip the and therefore stops processing all s within the mailbox. Mail Processor doesn't show any error status when this happens and reports "checking for new messages", as if everything is normal. The only indication of this issue is within the Mail Processor logs. Issue No.: PRB SMP4 does not create new logs each day or on a restart. The SMP4 does not create new logs each day or after a service restart and just keeps adding to the same files. This causes the files to get so large that they are difficult to open and they cannot be attached to incidents. Issue No.: PRB Unable to load BODYSTRUCTURE error due to Mail handling of partial fetches. Sometimes the following error is reported by the Mail Processor: javax.mail.messagingexception: Unable to load BODYSTRUCTURE This occurs where JavaMail tries to fetch parts of an that cannot be read due to parsing or protocol issues in the Mail server. This stops the Mail Processor processing any further s until the offending has been removed. Issue No.: LAM-2658 The installer does not auto-detect the installed Java version and amend the setenv.bat file accordingly during installation. While installing the Mail Processor the installer previously looked for a hard coded path to a specific version of Java and did not detect the current version of Java that was installed and update the setenv.bat file accordingly. The following issue was investigated but could not be recreated on Mail Processor v4.4: Issue No.: PRB Issue with multiple mail boxes - can perform operations not assigned to that mailbox If there are four mail boxes, each using a different account to connect to the relevant mailbox and inbox, with each mailbox configured to perform a specific operation in a specific service and route the request to a specific team, then it was reported that Mail Processor would often add a record to the incorrect service instead. This was thoroughly investigated by the Sunrise development team but could not be replicated. Page 8 of 8
