1 Managing Guardian Home Access Center Accounts in eschoolplus This is a step by step guide on how to maintain and troubleshoot your Home Access Center Accounts. Guardian Home Access Center Accounts Step 1: Locate the student whose contact needs assistance To do this, go to the link underneath it is the folder and click on it to expand it. The first link. Click on the link. That will take you to the tab creen (as shown below). Type in part or all of the Last Name field. Verify that the Building and Current Status fields are correct before clicking on the button. Type in part or all of Last Name here. Select all statuses to pull up all students, not just active. When the Student List reen is displayed name. This will take you to the Student Summary screen. Click button to pull up list of students meeting the criteria entered. Page 1

2 Step 2: Select the contact under the Contact Information ection On the Student Summary under the Contact Information section, click on the contacts name as shown below. Click the link to the contact name Step 3: Verify information on Student/Contact Relationship tab Clicking the contact link will take you to the Contact Detail screen (shown on the next page). It will default you to the Student/Contact Relationship tab. There are two important things on this screen. They are: 1. Contact Type: The contact type must be listed as Guardian or the contact will not be able to access Home Access Center. (Can t be Other Contact or Emergency Contact) 2. Web Access: This box must be checked in order for the contact to be able to log into Home Access Center. be able to login. Page 2

4 Step 4: Verify information on the General tab The General ab contains the contacts Login ID, Password, and a link to exactly what the contact can see when logging into Home Access Center. 1. Login ID: not see it, then the contact does not have an account. You can create an account by typing a Login ID in the space provided. The Login ID should follow the naming convention of First Name followed by a period followed by Last name (no spaces in between). For example John Smith would be John.Smith. Common names may require you to add a number to the end of the login. For instance, there are four John Smith s in the district. The first John Smith would be John.Smith, the second John Smith would be John.Smith1, the third John Smith would be John.Smith2, and the fourth John Smith would be John.Smith3 and so on. 2. Password: ome Access Center. If you are creating a new account, you can enter a password. You can reset the password simply by entering a new one. Password must be at least 8 characters long and it is case sensitive. 3. Impersonate (HAC): This link allows you to see exactly what the contact sees when logging into Home Access Center. This link displays only if you have the security resource to impersonate contacts in Home Access Center. You can click the Impersonate (HAC) link to open Home Access Center as if you were this contact. If you do not have this link and feel that you need it, you can have your building administrator submit a ticket to give you access. Access to this can only be approved by your building administrator. If the guardian has a login, it would already be listed. You can create a new login ID by typing it in. You can reset the password by typing a new one here. (Password must be at least 8 characters long.) Click the Impersonate (HAC) link to view what the guardian is seeing in HAC. Page 4

5 Step 5: Other information regarding Home Access Center 1. Login IDs and Passwords ARE case sensitive. Even if you put the login or password in all caps, it does not require it to be entered in all caps to log in. 2. A parent tells you that they cannot login to HAC. You should verify that the contact is listed as a Guardian in Contact Type and the Web Access box is checked. 3. A parent says that they have different logins for each student and asks to have just one login and password for both students. This happens because the contact has been entered into the system twice thus creating 2 different contact records for the same person. Each sibling is connected to a different contact record. exact same contact record there will be two different logins. The only way to correct this error is to delete the contact on one of the siblings and then re-add the contact using the exact same contact as the other sibling is using. In order to link the contacts, you must look up You can verify that you have the correct contact by the phone numbers listed on each duplicate contact. Please note that because sometimes a contact has different phone or address information listed for each student, it may not be possible to link the records. In order for parents to view assignments in Home Access Center, teachers must check the Publish Items and Publish Scores boxes for EVERY assignment entered.
