1 Genesis Parent Portal at DBMHS FORMS AND DOCUMENTS FOR PARENTS SEPTEMBER 2013 M. Little, DBMHS SLMS

2 Required documents and forms in Genesis Instead of signing papers, parents and students will use their Genesis Parent Portal accounts to read and acknowledge required papers, and submit start-of-year forms this year.

3 Parent Portal Message Center Communication from the school throughout the year may also appear in the Message Center, which is your home page in Genesis. Computers can be used at the public library, or you contact the school to use school computers during office hours if needed.

4 Your child has a separate Genesis account your Genesis Parent account has forms to complete and documents to acknowledge which are meant for the parent/guardian to complete, not the student. your child has his/her own Genesis account to review grades and see report cards.

5 If the school does not have your current address. Please use this form to provide the school with your current address, so a Genesis Parent Account can be created for you.

6 From your parent/guardian account: Read and acknowledge all documents on the DOCUMENTS tab Complete and submit all forms on the FORMS tab Enter or correct all emergency contact information on the CONTACTS tab.

7 To access Genesis, use Firefox, Chrome, or Safari browsers Do not use Internet Explorer for acknowledging documents in Genesis, because the popup blocker causes difficulties. Instead, choose from: Firefox, Chrome, or Safari.

9 Click the first link on the page

10 Parent Access is for Parents and Students

11 Your User Name is your full address. Parents/Guardians User Name: The full address you gave to the school at the beginning of the school year is your login to Genesis Parent Portal.

12 Your User Name is your full address. Password: a temporary password is ed to you when we create your account.the first time you log in you should change it to something you will remember. Check your Spam or Junk folders if you do not see a Welcome .

13 Forgot your password? Click the forgot my password link and it will send you an message with password recovery information. Check your personal look in your Spam or Junk folders if you cannot find it in your Inbox.

14 After logging in, you should see Parent on the left. If you do not: your account may be set up incorrectly, or you may be using the wrong account Call the main office, the IMC, or guidance for help.

15 Click Student Data if you are at the Message Center

16 Click the Documents tab

17 You should see 5 or more documents. Click to read each one.

18 After reading, acknowledge by clicking buttons on the right Acknowledge each one

19 When acknowledging, type in popup window

20 The button on the right disappears after you acknowledge the document

21 Next click FORMS

22 Click each Form and answer the questions Click to edit each form

23 Click to answer questions, then UPDATE

24 Click CONTACTS 1. Enter or correct the contact information here 2. click Save All Changes, above

25 Forms and Documents are due ASAP It is important for the school to have up-to-date contact numbers and health information about your child Acceptable Use (AUP) and other policy documents are needed so your child can use school computer equipment/accounts Some documents (like AUP) require both the student and the parent/guardian acknowledgement
