VEHICLE 7523 Tonight (12/29) my GPS was not working AGAIN. I originally called about this problem on 12/21, OVER A WEEK AGO. My GPS shows my location where I initially log on to the laptop and stays at that location. When I arrive at a call, it will sometimes then show my at that location...and stay there till I arrive at another call...and then stay there. In the past turning the computer off for 10 minutes and then back on has sometimes worked after multiple reboots. Tonight however it will not work. I called the computer room only to find out that my original problem ticket (below) was still open and had not yet been resolved (again, OVER A WEEK AGO). FYI- on the 10 minute shutdown, to turn computer on and log into all systems, set up your map list capabilities on visinet, log onto mdt and afr takes 8min and 21sec (I timed it). So "simply rebooting" actually takes us either out of service for approx 19 minutes each time or we remain in service and risk getting into an incident and hope that the dispatcher and other officers heard our check out location. THIS IS AN OFFICER SAFETY ISSUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you wonder why you do not get a lot of s regarding connectivity it is because officers are tired, as am I, of sending s constantly for the same issues. Let me assure you that the system IS NOT running as it should and there are CONSTANT issues with connectivity, GPS etc. Of the millions already spent on this system, how much did a system that works cost???? These updates will be minimal. We have asked repeatedly for changes and are told that most of what we are asking for are enhancements. These enhancements have a dollar value attached to them. We are currently in the process of acquiring Columns. We don t have an exact date as to when it will come on line, as it is still in the negotiation phase. We would like to get Columns in place, test it, and then see what, if any, enhancements will be needed at that time. Columns should address most of the concerns that were relayed at the meeting. The SAFFE office here at Central have a lot of complaints about RMS, I am not very familiar with RMS or how it s used so they gave me a quick run down of what its used for. Anyway most of the guys in SAFFE are not computer savvy as they are mostly close to retirement and are used to the old mainframe way of pulling information. Is there a simplified training doc on how to search in RMS that I can forward to them. I believe the reason they are having so many problems is because they really don t know how to use it. Ex. I had one officer type in a person s name and DOB and nothing came up but another officer typed the same name without the DOB and the name appeared 3 times two of the entries didn t have all the data and one of them did. That confused them as they do not realize when searching they have to use different parameters to find what they are looking for. So basically I need a very simple training doc that I can give to them I am hoping there is

We believe this might be related to another tablespace issue, but we have not confirmed that. The date range leads us to believe that during this time period, there was an issue. Investigators are not able to use this system as it was supposed to be used. The cost factor of researching an apartment complex is very time consuming, when searching for a specific apartment. I know I m preaching to the choir, but I believe this needs to be addressed. Wouldn t the easiest thing, be, to have an advanced search, much like the phone number the caller is calling from in a drop down-box, added for apartment number. This way the investigator can use contains in case a number sign or other than simple numbers added to find a specific apartment at an address? I realize Columns may be the up and coming system to use, but how long before this comes on line? The information is already in RMS from Officer s report entries. It is sad we cannot extract the information from a system in which we input the information into. And, since I m on a roll, have ya ll seen how long it takes to run an advanced search of a phone number the caller is calling from? I use contains simply because I know the RMS system responds in different ways to the way we ask it to research something. This issue only affects CFS numbers worked the night of December 31, 2011 on the cusp of the New Year: SAPD-IT is working with TriTech on a known CAD issue where Dec 31 st 2011 Calls For Service incidents were issued case numbers incorrectly. In some cases, case numbers were issued as SAPD12xxxxxx when the CFS was for In other cases, the case number was issued reusing case numbers from last year. For example SAPD was issued where the year did not roll up to 12 but the last six digits rolled for the new year. The end result is there are old case numbers reissued for the new year. Records will be rejecting back reports submitted with an erroneous case number to minimize reports flowing into RMS with erroneous numbers. Action Please keep these rejected reports in your Inbox on the server so the case can be paired with a correct 2011 number. We anticipate by the end of the week the correct case numbers can be communicated out for those CFS that were worked on the cusp of the New Year. Investigators are not able to use this system as it was supposed to be used. The cost factor of researching an apartment complex is very time consuming, when searching for a specific apartment. I know I m preaching to the choir, but I believe this needs to be addressed. Wouldn t the easiest thing, be, to have an advanced search, much like the phone number the caller is calling from in a drop down-box, added for apartment number. This way the investigator can use contains in case a number sign or other than simple numbers added to find a specific apartment at an address? I realize Columns may be the up and coming system to use, but how long before this comes on line? The information is already in RMS from Officer s report entries. It is sad we cannot extract the information from a system in which we input the information into. And, since I m on a roll, have ya ll seen how long it takes to run an advanced search of a phone number the caller is calling from?
