Grades, attendance, discipline, and test scores are among some of the information that is available. The information is collected from the Merrillville School Corporations central student management systems and is presented to our parents in a clean and easy to read format. The data is live and up to the minute. The hope with this program is to help our parents become more involved in the day to day activities of their students. This packet includes instructions on how to create your username and password to access the Online Parent Access program. In order to create your account you will need to have an active account. This account will be displayed to your student s teacher and will allow them to communicate with you via . If you do not have an account there are instructions available in the packet to show you how to create an account. You will receive an activation number for student(s) that will be used when you are creating an account. One account will allow you to access your student(s) information. The instructions will walk you through the process of creating your initial account and also how to add additional students if needed. If you have not received this letter please contact the office of your student s school. If you have multiple students in different schools throughout the district you will need to have an activation code for each student. To begin the Parent Access Online logon account creation go to It is recommend that you bookmark this page for future visits. When you are at the site you will use the New Users box on the right side of the screen to create your account. Enter the activation code exactly as it appears on the activation code letter. The dashes do need to be entered. Once you have entered the activation code click on the Create Account button. The next screen that will appear allows you to create your username and password. The username needs to be unique and requires at least 8 characters, the password also requires at least 8 characters. This information is case sensitive. The address will be used if you have forgotten your password along with the Secret Question. The answer to the Secret Question will be asked if you forget your password to Parent Access Online Remember to document your username and password that you have created. Make sure to include capital and lowercase letters, the logon information IS case sensitive Once you have filled out everything and documented you username, password, and secret answer click NEXT 05/19/2011 Page 2 of 5

Your student s name is the link that will allow you to view their information. If you have activation codes for additional students in your household you can add them here by clicking on add a student. You will then enter the activation code as provided by your school. The student will then be added to your logon and appear on the left side of the screen. 5 Creating a Yahoo! Account 1. From your web browser go to 2. To create your new account click on Sign Up. 3. The Yahoo registration page will now appear. 4. Enter in the appropriate information for your new account. 5. The Select an ID and Password Section is the location that you will create your new address. This Yahoo! ID and name must be unique. You can click check to see if the name is unique. Enter in your password and retype it in the second box. It is very important that you remember your address and your password. 6. Answer the forgot your ID and Password Questions. This section will allow you to request a new password if you forget your old one. You need to answer these questions with answers that you will remember. 7. Type the Code shown on the screen. The code is to authorize the page to create your account in the next step. 8. Click Create My Account. 9. Once your account is created you will receive the verification page informing you of your address and other security related information.
