NAVIG8 (pronounced navigate) is a multi-platform digital mapping application created to give visitors the ability to navigate their own way to and around your premises quickly and easily with the aid of pre-programmed digital maps. PLAN AHEAD & MAP FROM HOME Using smartphones, computers & tablets, patients and visitors can access preprogrammed digital routes to and around the hospital grounds from their home or office. By simply putting in their start and end destinations the software provides the fastest and most accessible route. Users can re-route to as many destinations as they wish, and when they have accessed the appropriate route the map and text instructions can be uploaded onto a smartphone for them to use on the move. NAVIG8 ON SITE DDA compliant digital kiosks can be positioned around the hospital in convenient areas to allow visitors to view a simplified digital floor plan of the hospital. Using the kiosks position as the start point, users can route to any preprogrammed room or department within the hospital and its grounds. The kiosk software is full of intelligent functions which help make it quick and easy to use. 6 FAQ. How much does it cost to set up? Each job is different. What do these include? There is an annual NAVIG8 software licence fee which permits you to run NAVIG8 for the benefit of your hospital and visitors, as well as giving you access to the mapping software. It also covers the cost of regular software updates required to ensure compatibility with new versions of Apple & Android software. NAVIG8 software is monitored remotely 24/7 to ensure trouble free performance. If NAVIG8 kiosks form part of your package, there is an annual maintenance fee for remote 24/7 monitoring. This ensures that any software issue is detected remotely and, in the majority of cases, can be resolved remotely. If an engineer is required to visit your premises, this cost is covered by the service charge. Can the interface be customised to look the way we want it? YES. We can design the interface to suit your business or personal needs. We are adding new buildings to our premises, can we map these ourselves? NO. This requires professional software programming skills and will need to be carried out by NAVIG8 engineers. Will we be able to edit and update routes on the maps ourselves? YES. NAVIG8 mapping is easy to edit and update. Appropriate training is part of the NAVIG8 package and no software programming skills are required. We are too busy to look after mapping updates ourselves. Is this a service NAVIG8 can offer us? YES. For a small monthly fee, NAVIG8 will manage all your mapping updates for you. Will the map work on Apple and Android? YES. The software is compatible with both Apple and Android. Is the Kiosk DDA compliant? YES. The kiosks comply with all current relevant DDA regulations. Are NAVIG8 kiosks treated to assist infection control? YES. All standard NAVIG8 kiosks have antibacterial touch-screens to minimize the spread of infection. Can NAVIG8 show a visitor s actual position in relation to the route they are following? YES. This is possible, but requires the installation of inexpensive ibeacons in your hospital. If I get lost can I reroute from my current location? YES. With bluetooth turned on, your mobile phone can connect to ibeacon signals which will locate your current position. Is the kiosk setup with a hearing loop? NO. The kiosk does not use sound so it is not setup with a hearing loop. Are there other styles and colours of kiosks? YES. We source our kiosks from a number of different suppliers and we can supply you with options. How long will it take to deliver from the date of our first meeting? Every job varies in time over the planning process. We aim to deliver to your premises within 6-8 weeks from the date of sign off. Do you need to connect to the hospital wi-fi? NO. Wi-fi connection is not needed although the kiosks do need an internet connection to allow remote access and updates. We recommend hardwiring the kiosks to the hospital s internet for a stable internet connection. 2D, 2.5D or 3D maps. Which should we have? NAVIG8 can produce all types of maps. De Montford University shared with us their extensive research into wayfinding, suggesting that the key consideration is to keep the maps as simple as possible. For this reason, we suggest 2D or 2.5D maps, stacked in the case of a multi-floor building, are likely to be the easiest for visitors to use. Do the kiosks need an external power supply? YES. All internal kiosks plug into a standard 13A power supply socket. Do you have outdoor kiosks? YES. We can supply kiosks which are weatherproof and suitable for external use. What happens if we close off areas in our hospital? The NAVIG8 mapping management software is easy to use and is designed so that routes through any area of the hospital that is not in use can be suspended either for a specified length of time, or until they are re-opened. During this time, visitors will be re-routed to their destinations by the next quickest or accessible route. How do you create the maps? Using site plan drawings, usually supplied in the.dwg format, we redraw a simplified version, keeping only the essential information. We have a lot of service engineers visit our hospital. Can we use NAVIG8 to their advantage? YES. NAVIG8 maps can include the locations of all serviced plant, air-conditioning equipment, fire equipment, planters, water coolers etc. Service engineers can be given access to the map relevant to their service to help make their visit as efficient as possible.
