Chapter 1: Introduction CyberLink MagicSports is a revolutionary way of watching your sports videos. It automatically detects highlights of the most memorable moments in sports from your recorded games. Note: The sports types available in CyberLink MagicSports are dependent on the version and add-on packs installed on your computer. 1

CyberLink MagicSports Navigation Controls The navigation bar across the top of the window contains a number of buttons for navigating around the CyberLink MagicSports program with a mouse. Select the Home icon to return to the Home page. Select the Back icon to return to a previous page. The Minimize, Full Screen/Window, and Close buttons have standard Windows behavior. Browsing for Media Content Media pages have functions on the left and a content browsing area on the right. Files are displayed as thumbnails (or icons) and organized in folders. Select a folder to display its contents. If the number of files and folders displayed exceeds one page in the content browsing area, use the up/down buttons in the lower right corner to scroll through the pages. You can also use the Up/Down arrows on the keyboard to scroll up or down one row, or the Page Up/ Page Down keys to scroll up or down an entire page. To go up one folder level, select the Up One Level icon. 2

Chapter 1: Introduction Remote Control You can use the remote control with CyberLink MagicSports for convenient media enjoyment from across the room. To control media playback using the remote control, use the dedicated playback control buttons. Most of the buttons behave like those on a consumer DVD player. Remote Key To view a list of the remote control buttons available and their functions in MagicSports, select Remote Key within the Select a Game window. The Remote Control Key displays the functions of the different buttons that are available in both the Playback and Add/Drop Scene windows. 3

CyberLink MagicSports Player Controls for Mouse Use To play a media file, select its thumbnail (or icon) in the content browsing area. The player control panel appears whenever you move the mouse, then automatically disappears several seconds after the mouse stops moving. Standard playback buttons include Stop, Play/Pause, Previous, Rewind, Fast Forward, and Next. Volume controls include Volume Down, Mute/Speaker On, and Volume Up. Other control buttons vary depending on the type of media being played and may also include Always on Top (TV window is always on top of other programs on your computer) and Subtitle (displays broadcast subtitles when available). Video Snapshot You can take a video snapshot of your sports video at any time by selecting the Snapshot button. When you take a snapshot, a picture (in the JPG format) is saved in the Video Snapshot folder located in the My Pictures folders. 4

Chapter 2: MagicSports CyberLink MagicSports automatically creates video highlights of the most exciting moments from your recorded sporting events. Using MagicScene analysis technology, CyberLink MagicSports identifies and filters out the less exciting moments and non-game scenes, such as commercials. After CyberLink MagicSports analyzes your video files, you can decide whether to watch the entire game or just view the highlights. You may also customize your own sports videos, creating a highlight reel of your favorite moments. 5

CyberLink MagicSports Adding and Analyzing Sports Video To get started, you must first add your recorded games to CyberLink MagicSports so they can be analyzed. To add your games to CyberLink MagicSports, select the Sports Type of your video from the content browsing area on the right, then select Add Game Note: MagicSports supports the following video formats: MPEG-2 in 720x480 or 720x576, or DVR-MS. 6

Chapter 2: MagicSports Browse through the folders to locate the sports videos you want to add. Select the box next to the sports videos you want to add and then select Apply. Note: You may preview the recorded sports videos before they are analyzed simply by selecting them. The video will automatically begin playing once selected. CyberLink MagicSports will begin generating the video highlights of your recorded sports program. As videos are being analyzed, a yellow progress bar indicates the progress. When analysis is complete, the progress bar will turn green, indicating the sports video highlights are ready to be viewed. 7

CyberLink MagicSports Watching Sports Highlights To begin watching your sports highlights in CyberLink MagicSports select the Sports Type of your video from the content browsing area on the right. Select the analyzed sports video file you want to watch in the content browsing area and then select Play Game to watch it at full screen. Note: If you are watching an analyzed baseball video for the first time you'll be asked to confirm the score and base positions. See "Confirming Score and Base Positions" on page 9 for more information. When you watch an analyzed MagicSports video, it begins playing from the beginning of the video file. To jump to the first highlight press the Next button. CyberLink MagicSports will take you to the first highlight and indicate the number of available highlights in the top right corner. 8

Chapter 2: MagicSports Note: After the sports highlight has been played the video will continue to play from that point forward. You must press the Next button again to jump to the next highlight. To view thumbnails of all the video highlights, select the Video Highlights button. Use either the Previous Scene or the Next Scene buttons to quickly scroll to the video highlight you want to view. To begin playing the highlight simply click on the thumbnail. Viewing Each Pitch When watching a baseball video analyzed by CyberLink MagicSports, you can not only watch the highlights of the game, but also watch every pitch. When you select the Next Pitch button located near the bottom right corner, MagicSports takes you to the moment just before the next pitch. Select the Previous Pitch button to return to the last pitch thrown. Confirming Score and Base Positions To ensure the accuracy of the analyzed baseball video, CyberLink MagicSports asks you to confirm the score and base positions the first time you view a video after it has been analyzed. You may run this feature at any time on a baseball video by selecting it and choosing Enhance Accuracy. CyberLink MagicSports displays the base and score positions it detected. The positions are marked by colored indicators. If the positions are correct, select Correct and continue to watch your video. If they are wrong, select Incorrect to enhance the accuracy of the video analysis. 9

CyberLink MagicSports Confirming Base Positions Select the picture that contains the base indicators in it. CyberLink MagicSports will then ask you to choose the picture where the base indicators are in the correct position. If none of the pictures are correct, select Manually Locate. Use the arrow keys in the bottom left of the window to manually place each colored indicator on the correct base position. Select the Ok button to confirm each base indicator. Confirming Score Positions Select the picture that contains the score in it. CyberLink MagicSports will then ask you to choose the picture where the score indicators are in the correct position. If none of the pictures are correct, select Manually Locate. Use the arrow keys in the bottom left of the window to manually place the colored indicators on the score positions. Select the Ok button to confirm each of the score indicators in the baseball video. When CyberLink MagicSports has collected all the information it requires, you will be asked to select Ok to continue. CyberLink MagicSports will reanalyze the video based on the new information. 10

Chapter 2: MagicSports Making a Sports Video To make a sports video highlight reel that you can output as a file and share with friends, select a video and then select Make Sports Highlight. CyberLink MagicSports automatically produces a number of highlight videos that vary in duration, including a Recommended video that contains the most exciting moments. The Recommended video is the default video and can be viewed by selecting Preview. To view all the created highlight videos, select Change Duration. Note: The Recommended video may not contain all of the highlights created when the video was analyzed, just the most exciting moments. Conversely, the videos that are of a longer duration will include more moments that were not part of the original highlights. 11

CyberLink MagicSports You may also customize your own duration by selecting Customize. By specifying the desired length of the video, CyberLink MagicSports will produce a video with the most exciting moments that fit that duration. To preview a duration, select it and use the Preview button to view it. Select Change Duration to choose a different duration for your compilation. Add/Drop Scene Once you have selected the duration that contains all the highlights you want to include in your video, you can further customize your video by adding and dropping scenes. You can include certain scenes contained in the duration, while leaving unwanted moments out. To do this: 12

Chapter 2: MagicSports 1. Select Add/Drop Scene. 2. Select Play on the control panel. Use the playback buttons to control playback of the preview. A timeline shows which scenes are included and which are excluded from your video. 3. Select the Include the scenes button or press the keyboard Up arrow at the start of a scene that you prefer to include in your video. (These scenes are colored green.) 4. Click Exclude the scenes button or press the keyboard Down arrow at the start of a scene that you prefer to exclude from your movie. (These scenes are colored red.) 5. Click return to go back to the previous page. After you have selected your preferred duration and highlights, you are ready to output your file. Select Sports Title at the bottom of the page to give your highlight video a custom name. Click Output to File to save this compilation as a new video file in your default My Videos folder. Note: If you enable Preview During Production in the Video and Audio Settings, you can watch your created sports highlight video while it is being produced. 13
