4 Viz Arena Release Notes Viz Arena is a minor release with new features. Please refer to the What s new in Viz Arena 4.8 document and the Viz Arena User and Administrator Guides for additional information on the added features. UHD Support Viz Arena 4.8 adds support for UHD in a two-box configuration. (RZP-373) Check the Viz Arena Admin Guide for further information and connection details Note: Only supported for two-box systems consisting of a standard Viz Arena tracking system and an UHD Viz Engine render system. Minimum requirement for rendering: HP Z840, 32GB RAM, NVIDIA M6000, Matrox x.mio3 video card. Note: Only supported with Viz Engine and later Advertisement Logger The advertisement logger keeps track of how long advertisements have been visible or partially visible on the various output engines and summarizes this information in a report file for further analysis. (RZP-366) Preview Engine The new Preview Engine in Viz Arena Control provides pixel accurate previews of the graphics before going on air. (RZP-164) Note: Only supported with Viz Engine and later Note: Not supported on systems equipped with NVIDIA Kepler graphics cards (i.e. K4200, K5200, or similar) Viz Engine 3.9 Support Viz Arena 4.8 fully supports Viz Engine 3.9. Note: Certain new features of Viz Arena 4.8 actually require Viz Engine 3.9 to be used. Viz Engine Starter The new Viz Engine Starter application simplifies starting the local setup in the correct mode, including all Viz Engine instances, Tracking Hub instances, and other processes with the correct configuration files. This only supports programs/processes running on the same machine as the Viz Arena Control application. (RZT-3071) Viz Arena One-box Bluefish only (without Matrox) The Viz Arena One-box solution now supports setups with only a Bluefish video cards and without requiring an additional Matrox video card. (RZP-327) Check the Viz Arena Admin Guide for further information and connection details Note: When using a One-box Bluefish only setup, the Tracking Hub is not required. 5 Improved the line-based calibration detection (RZT-2897) Optimized for minimal in-to-out delay (RZT-2671) Fixed issues from previous versions The following issues have been fixed compared to previous versions of Viz Arena: Calibration was not always detected on camera change when playing the video (RZT-2630) Viz Video Recorder could crash on shutdown in rare cases (RTZ-2709) Help function could point to the wrong directory (RZT-2866) Creating an enhanced database could crash in rare cases (RZT-3064) Various minor bugfixes (RZT-2639) Viz Engine Compatibility Viz Arena has been tested and is compatible to Viz Engine and Integration with Viz Engine needs to be set up and configured according to the Administrator Guide. The following features are only supported starting from Viz Engine o o o Viz Arena One-Box Bluefish only without Matrox video card Preview Engine UHD It is recommended to integrate with Viz Engine The Viz Arena One-Box requires 32 GB RAM to support Viz Artist and later To use Viz Engine 3.8.x integrating with a Matrox card, the Tracking Hub application must be installed and configured on the render system according to the Administrator Guide. Note: Viz Arena 4.8 only supports Tracking Hub v and later. To use the Scene Browser feature, the Graphics Hub REST service needs to be installed on the corresponding Graphics Hub system. Default Viz Engine configuration files are provided with the Viz Arena installation files. 5

6 Installation Notes for Windows7/x64 Required files Installing Viz Arena on Win7/x64 systems requires the following items: Type Filename Update? You will be provided with credentials to access to download area. Installation procedure for Viz Arena Install new software (required) 1. Run VizArena msi file (A) to install Viz Arena Run VizLibero.ApplicationData msi file (B) to update the Viz Libero Application Data Verify installation 1. Make sure you have a valid dongle 2. Start Viz Libero Administrator and perform all tests to show three green labels. Upgrading from a previous version of Viz Arena Upgrading Viz Arena to version can require to adapt the used Viz Engine scenes. According changes are described in the separate Viz Arena Scene Changes document. Note that a valid Viz Artist license is required to apply these changes. IMPORTANT: When upgrading One-box systems to Viz Arena 4.8.0, the GPU settings and assignments must be adapted according to the Viz Arena Admin Guide. IMPORTANT: On One-box systems the display must be connected to the rightmost graphics card (NVIDIA instance 1, see screenshot), otherwise input and output might remain black. 6

7 Upgrading to Viz Engine 3.9 Upgrading to Viz Engine 3.9 requires the Viz Engine configuration to be adapted if you did any custom changes on the configuration files deployed by Vizrt. According changes are described in the separate Viz Arena Configuration Changes documents. If default Viz Arena Viz Engine configuration files are used, then the new configuration files deployed with the Viz Arena 4.8 installer can directly be used without any adaptions. Upgrading to Viz Engine 3.8 Upgrading to Viz Engine 3.8 requires existing scenes (created with Viz Artist 3.7) to be updated and the Viz Engine configuration must be adapted. According changes are described in the separate Viz Arena Scene Changes and Viz Arena Configuration Changes documents. Note that a valid Viz Artist license is required to apply these changes. In order to send calibration data to Viz Engine 3.8 or later, the Tracking Hub application must be installed and configured. See the Administrators Guide how to set up and configure Tracking Hub. Note that Viz Arena only supports Tracking Hub v and later. Additionally, the NVIDIA driver settings should be adapted such that the Power manager mode of the Viz Engine applications is set to Prefer maximum performance. See also the corresponding section in the Administrators Guide. Project compatibility With Viz Arena it is possible to open and play back projects that were created using Viz Arena 4.0 and later. 7

8 Driver requirements Nvidia Graphics Card Nvidia graphics card type Any supported NVidia graphics card Recommended driver version 1. Right click on Desktop. Select NVidia Control Panel 2. In the following dialog, select System information on the bottom left. 3. In the following dialog, look at Graphics card information, left column. The current driver is shown in the right column unter Driver version. According driver updates are available from the same download as the installation files. Bluefish Video Card With Viz Arena 4.8.0, Bluefish Supernova and Epoch Neutron video cards are supported and require the Bluefish driver How to update Bluefish video driver to Unzip the Bluefish_Driver_ zip file (C) into C:\LiberoInstall\Drivers\Bluefish 2. Run InstallReleaseDriver64bitWin7Win8.bat from C:\LiberoInstall\Drivers\Bluefish\Bluefish \Driver 3. Reboot system How to update Bluefish firmware This step depends on you actual hardware. 1. Run BlueInfo.exe from C:\LiberoInstall\Drivers\Bluefish\Bluefish \Bin. This opens a dialog window: 2. In the top left of the window, your Bluefish video card type is shown: a. If it shows a Super Nova card: Run BlueFirmwareUpdate_SupernovaAndSPlus_2i2o_123.exe from C:\LiberoInstall\Drivers\Bluefish\Bluefish \Firmware\SuperNova b. If it shows an Epoch Neutron card: Run BlueFirmwareUpdate_Neutron_1i1o_V067.exe from C:\LiberoInstall\Drivers\Bluefish\Bluefish \Firmware\Neutron 8
